Jakks had this retarded idea of selling grayscale recolors at Spencer's as exclusives. Finding later waves with Skull Kid, Falco and Iggy was hard enough already. It probably killed WoN too, now that they're doing Mario fulltime, and the others less

I once played NES on an old BW TV, framed in wood and had a dial on it. That's how I know what "Don't touch that dial" means. Anyway, it was all they had, but still a great childhood memory

But there was zero demand for these recolors. It would be a giant middle finger if revealed that they actually bothered to color it with paint. Shadow Link and various Mario recolors actually have an excuse to exist

Are you dumb or stupid? The greyscale Fox figure clearly is covered with multiple paint apps all over it. The reason it was made was to stretch out the tooling and get more money's worth out of it. You know, the same reason every toy company does repaints.

Based. We had a color TV with a dial in the 90s. Was probably from the 70s. Honestly it made sense back then when switching channels was instant unlike modern TV.

NTA but they're not actual prototypes, they're just meant to look like "prototypes" as a gimmick, hence the deliberate grayscale color. It's similar to their gold painted Trophy series figures.
