Toys as invesments

No.10869809 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I know this is a controversial thing to talk about in toy communities but let's discuss it. Because many of us love the idea of holding onto something that will definitely become expensive in the future.

I've been collecting figures since 2007 and I had some figures in the boxes when I bought too much stuff in the 10s when everything was cheap and Ebay didn't have godawful shipping prices (remember those times?).
Now I have a couple of figures that go for $1000+. Some of the figures that go for $200+ despite i bought them for $20-50 price range.
It makes me feel really nice. I never cared about investments - I just bought what I loved.

BUT it seems that after covid figure collecting hobby became insanely expensive. Everything is either expensive or expensive + shitty shipping prices which makes it more expensive.
Lots of elite level figures that cost $50-70 from the beginning.

I sometimes search on Ebay for figures i own and it feels good to know that there are sold listings in February 2024 that go for much more than i bought those for.

Do you have such figures?
Do you invest in toys?
