I remember when he was so pissed when his "OMGWTFBBQORIGINALCHARACTERDONOTSTEAL" instructions for transforming and combining his scrap pile got leaked. It was all lego connections and a giant metal rod bolt and nut that was shoved through the middle to keep everything together.

You could say this about literally anything. You could do this with a wooden block or a $200 dollar masterpiece. It doesn't speak much of the actual figure quality, of which CW devy has very little.
86 devy most certainly will have individual bots that can actually do anything worth a damn, that will probably transform better, and will certainly look better, while being able to pose better — both individually and while combined — while also not being oversized and unwieldy for no reason.

One step changers might be more your speed if all you care about is bashing them around, honestly

He's deluxe class, the mold is just a retool of Kingdom Sideswipe. It wouldn't make sense to include that minicon in that size class when other uses of the previous mold were sold under deluxe. I expected Wheeljack would be another multipack or bumped to voyager. It would be very weird if they included that minicon, they'd essentially toss in a $7-$8 figure for free.

Hasbro has been known to to meltdown and reuse parts. We've known for years that many weapons figures are missing are part of thr mold and Hasbro chosen to not include them.

For a recent example of this, Javelin should still have the pistols Arcee had, but they weren't included despite that type of plastic being used for several parts on both figures with none of them bring omitted on the toy.

It's also possible that either the minicon does use it's own separate mold from Wheeljack, or at least a percentage of those minicons made will go on to be used for a minicon only pack.

Prime flopped because it didnt appeal to Japanese tastes at all, they threw in gimmicks with the toys just to help it sell there. And now anime is more popular now globally than ever, a Trigger Transformers series for older audiences and otakus would be insanely popular in Japan and the USA. Auto correct changed soured to spur, but yes, those aren't good things to me. The rubber degrades pretty fast and kills rolling wheels, chrome needs extra care so ir retains luster and it can chip like mad. Die-cast is mostly applied inappropriately and it also means a whole area on the toy is painted, I can stomach it on certain figures but not on transformers.

Fuck it, you know what? I like this look for him. The chestplate in particular is far more interesting than the generic 'flat slab of metal' thing he's had going on for decades, his cannon looks awesome, his face looks pretty good and definitely far closer to what he's supposed to look like than the Bayverse design, and I like the little touches of red on his arms and ribs.

I own a G1 Prime reissue from 2004 and none of these has any damage. I'm only aware of the rubber because my Magnus from back then has a couple of cracked wheels, but it's an easy fix as they split longitudinally following the molded grooves.

I got him - he's not a bad toy, even though I've never seen Stranger Things and all of the references in the packaging went right over my head. Despite how he looks, he's not actually a Siege Ironhide/Ratchet retool, and has a much better looking alt mode. The weapons are kinda fun, but they tend to pop out of the little slots they tab into in van mode; also, he (sadly) cannot actually hold his little pizza prop.

Presuming that Superion and Bruticus even retains the Scramble functionality. I imagine it'll be like Menasor, all the limbs are Deluxe while the torso will be Commander. In Silverbolt's case he'll probably be a Leader sized toy since he's pretty tall and comes with parts that'll form the armor of the combined mode as well as partsforming into a landing platform like the original toy.

Superion's Sunbow model is very similar to Menasor. The arms looked like jets slapped on to arms as armors and the legs similarly has jets on the back of his legs. Not as obvious as Menasor but you can tell the artist didn't know how to properly translate Menasor and Superion onto the animation and starting from Defensor and Bruticus is where the combiners looked like they actually combined.

There's a lot of weird fuckery with the animation model because it came from a jank 80s cartoon, so much of the toy's detail was lost and reinterpreted differently into the animation model. I think they will do what they did with Motormaster onto Silverbolt, just not entirely the same.

As I said, not entirely the same. Motormaster basically turned into a black block with a head and slapped onto the exoskeleton much like the rest of the Stunticons. With Silverbolt I can see him transform into the lower part of the torso and legs while the pieces that he comes with that transform into a launch pad (and is thus the equivalent to Motormaster's trailer) will become the upper part of the torso and exoskeleton arms of Superion. Basically he gets involved in the combining but he still needs the additional armor parts to help complete his torso mode.

Yes, but not on par with Menasor. You can actually tell what parts of the toy inspired the show model, there's no vehicles on top of limbs that appear out of nowhere.

You guys keep forgetting that the frame needs to come from somewhere. None of the other combiners have something as convenient Motormaster's trailer to be repurposed as the frame, a solution that actually killed two birds with one stone as it also made Motormaster be in scale with the rest of his team in robot and vehicle mode insead of being a giant robot or a small truck.
People don't give enough credit to that idea.

You're forgetting that the original Silverbolt toy came with parts for the combined mode, and they also doubled as a launch pad when combined with Silverbolt. If Silverbolt is a Commander then he'll most likely come with those parts that will help him out in combined mode like >>10885807 and >>10885814 mentions. Silverbolt could transform into one part of the frame and the launch pad will become the other part of the frame and complete the torso mode.

I remember that and all the other ramp modes of the torso bots, but I disregarded the chance of them including that aborted lauchpad function. I can see Superion working fine without the need of a whole frame like menasor, only needing some pieces to complete the look.

Then again all this speculation is pretty silly taking into account there's absolutely no word about a Superion for now. I'm more interested to see what they do with the Constructicons first.

Can someone redpill me on the 13's appeal? I mean it, if you like them please tell me bout it lol, I'm curious.

Don't get me wrong I like DW The Fallen and Vector Prime, but I really didn't like [the group] in IDW and Aligned-whatever. Just thought they were a bit of a wet fart the story actively undermined (also didn't like their designs much). Makes me wonder what kind of stories Furman originally had in mind for them in the first place, do we know at all? Or just the toy bios/lore guidebooks?

Anyways sidenote but I hope this means we'll also get the Guiding Hand, I like their concept and designs, even if I have mixed feelings about the finale dissolving ang ambiguity regarding them.

Like I get the idea, trying to give identity to the various factors that make up Transformers as a civilization such as Transformation/Adaptus Energon/Alchemist Combining/Nexus etc etc, but it feels like it's trying way too hard, especially when I'm pretty sure it's mostly just a pretense for the whole Megatronis-Antichrist analogy.

As mentioned earlier, again Onslaught could indeed be the commander for all we know. But even if not, yeah, Swindle would make the most sense to release singularly first.

Personally this's good for me; I'm on track to buying WAYY too much shit this year in TF alone, so if all I'm interested in next year is Megatron, Devastator, Red Alert, Heatwave, Skybyte, The Fallen, and the first small beginning of a Bruticus? Yeah, I can deal. ...god, I hope the commanders/titan/haslab won't be anything that'll appeal to me.

Also I don’t blame you, Prima is so fuckin unmemorable as a character that I’ve seen dozens of people confuse his name for Solus. For people who don’t remember, Prima prime is the first bearer of the matrix of leadership, who first appeared in the marvel comics as a random orange Prime, and was the predecessor to Optimus. He appeared in the cartoon during “Five Faces Of Darkness” part 4 as a blue gladiator with orange accents wielding a tire shield, fighting for the quintessons amusement, though this wasn’t revealed until 2010, in an “Ask Vector Prime” section in the Allspark Almanac ll.

In other continuities he’s been both a selfless leader, aswell as a major racist towards beastformers and organics. One of his most notable stories saw him partially responsible for the death of his brother in arms lover, the only female character of his group, though he never actually took responsibility for this.

That entire description also perfectly fits sentinel prime for some reason

I doubt Leader class Thundertron is a new toy, I'll probably include some other toy or accesories to bump up the price. If they do make another, then I'll be surprised, that kind of thing is rare, specially if the character doesn't have multiple designs (like Optimus).

OK, I've got a weird conspiracy theory boiling right now.
So, obviously we still don't know the cores/commanders/titan/haslab/store exclusives/etc, but I find it conspicuous so far that in all of the GenPrime listings for next year, the only Animated character we're getting is a mild retool, and we're getting absolutely no TFP, RiD15, or CV characters. Technically there's the 13, but they're kinda specific-series-agnostic, being able to apply to anything from the 2010s (+Dreamwave & Galaxy Force).

Looking at it even closer, there's only a single UT lad for Armada (not counting Wheeljack), a single JPG1/BW guy in Skybyte, and that's it. Honestly I'm shocked there's no BW rep at all to begin with, and I'm not even a BW guy; 2025 looks to be primarily reissues and G1, with a light sprinkling of anime + comics.

I'm thinking, could they finally be rethinking how they're approaching TFA/TFP/RiD15/CV toys, after they were met with such distaste in Legacy? I mean the only new mold for a post-2007 character we're getting next year (besides the 13) is Heatwave, and as I haven't seen any RB fans complain about Chase yet, that sorta makes sense.
Maybe they really are working out a "Studio Series Animation" line for them after all..?

"Almost" rock solid. The only thing I dislike about him is the stupid combiner wars connectors on his knees, I need to be mindful when moving them so the connection doesn't start sliding out.

I never understood that stupid design, it just feels like they were in their way to make a perfecly functional locking mechanism but for some reason they made the inside of the lock slanted too instead of flat, so you don't even need to manually move the spring loaded piece up to unlock the thing and it just slides. What's the fucking point then?

So yeah, fuck combiner wars.

Honestly I'm of the opinion G1 combiners are just kinda doomed to fail. They either end up with a shitty combined mode, compromised individuals, tonnes of partsforming to the point where the individuals contribute almost nothing to the actual combiner, or a mix of the three. Also doesn't help most of the combiners were completely forgettable in the show (both in terms of design and character).

Eh, if you need to cheat almost the entire combiner at that point it's a case of the concept being fundamentally flawed and not worth pursuing. I can accept hands and feet partsforming because at CHUG scale it's borderline impossible to get them integrated (especially if you go Scramble) but when you get shit like, say, IF Liokaiser where the entire leg is a partsforming piece that the robot just plugs onto, you find yourself asking what the point is.
"Proper" combiners are possible (I have Maketoys Giant, the second ever 3P combiner, and he's held up pretty well, wiht a partscount similar to modern TFs) but with HasTak being beholden to the G1 cartoon designs (which almost universally sucked in the case of combiners) they won't happen.

All the last ones were earth-ish tanks and stuff right? Well, if he's not a gun (maybe he could be fanmoded potentially), they could do a very blocky Cybertronian tank or Galvatron-esque mobile tripod, and the thing is that has very direct retool potential.
They have a comic line now, plus their next trilogy is focused on Primes or whatnot. Either one might be the perfect place to do an Emirate Xaaron, who:

Liokaiser is pretty damn good, as the only extra piece is the head. You can tell Takara was trying new things as far as combining robots go and they would continue to experiment in Brave.

It only needs some adjustments (like better feet) and added articulation, a modern toy following this combination scheme should be pretty good.

I don't know about the rest of /tfg/, but I'd actually really like a subline of Transformers human characters. I don't need (or want) them to transform to justify their inclusion, I don't really need them to be in scale, just 3.75 inch, 5 POA figures of the stand-out human characters in each iteration of the franchise, you could do three or four packs and stick them up on fan channels exclusively.

I’ve debated trying to design and print out new locking mechanisms for my Menasor. It’s so annoying how they just slide out from barely any force. Granted, I bought my Menasor with the DNA kit installed on it already so maybe the old pair of legs might work better. I hear ya man. All of these Leader releases the past few months are just bending us over and fucking us. Tigerhawk in Legacy United apparently has a ratchet that just stops working eventually in his right leg with basically no warning. 2 Left feet on a LOT of the Megatrons apparently. I got lucky with that one.

I miss when my toys would last like 30 years before a QC issue emerged. Gonna try fixing Tigerhawk in a week or so once I find a good way to remove the capped pin.

I've used a soldering iron and a strong magnet to remove capped pins before. It can be a pain in the ass but it seems to be the general consensus on how to do so.

If you need the step by step guide:
>put soldering iron tip on the cap
>wait for it to heat up
>use magnet to try and pull the pin out a little
>you might have to repeat the previous steps a few times
>once you've got the pin out a decent way you might be able to use pliers or some other tool to pull it out entirely

Thanks! I luckily have a beat-to-shit extra TM2 Megatron to practice on with "modern" plastics and metals. I just googled and apparently a good magnet to use is "neodymium?" The only place around me that sells the sized I need is Hobby Lobby and they take the day off to hate homosexuals on Sunday so I won't be able to try until tomorrow.

I'll be back with results. I honestly think the Tigerhawk issue is not actual breakage. I think they use those shitty soft ratchets in there with the springy rectangular tooth thing and wherever it was mounted it kind of got pushed out and now it just freely rotates. Could also still be breakage I guess. I guess I really just want to see what the insides look like because it seems to be covered by a cap/disc thing that I can't rotate freely. This motherfucker is also out of stock everywhere so I'm a little scared to do this and fuck it up. It doesn't ruin the figure, but my autism is destroying me seeing one leg with a ratchet and one without, but with decent friction.

You're welcome, Anon. One thing to keep in mind is that ABS releases toxic fumes when it melts so make sure you have a respirator, good ventillation, etc. You shouldn't be outright melting the plastic when you do this (it should just be getting softened slightly) but I like to be extra careful with that sorta stuff.

If you guys had to get one of these, which one would you get?

I like the look of Bee in general, but his clear plastic and reports of it cracking kind of have me worried. Windblade, despite everyone shitting on her, looks pretty cool and almost everyone that owns her says good things about her. I don't have many fembots either. Prime, while looking like a beast, is yet another Prime, and I'm not currently looking to fill basically my entire Legacy Autobot roster with that many Primes (I have Armada and I'm funding Fire Convoy, and I also have Lio Convoy). Especially since I'm about to eat Prime shit for like an entire year with these lame ass 13 Primes.

Any thoughts?

Also, did they ever fix the yellowing and loose joints on Jhiaxus? Just asking because I can get him mad cheap now online and my current one has yellowed a little bit and has some loose joints. He's one of my fave Legacy offerings that's why I ask.

That Prime and Bee are just modern animated toys with smalller heads, if I wanted animated toys I'd buy the superior originals, these "safe" remakes are boring.

Windblade at least added more detail and has the excuse of her original cyberverse toy been limited on articulation.

Well I guess I give it try consider this is like the first time a proper local distributor getting them out over here. All of the previous super 7 stuff are expensive as hell being parallel import so these are my first super 7 toys at around 22 usd

Besides your typical minor retail massive produce paint issues, they do look good. Kinda wish someone resurrect the action master line. These would probably work but they need more articulation- at least knees and elbows.

For some reasons, dinobot's teeth is not painted all the way white to the left cheek. I thought it was just a fucked up paint job, but strangely if you look at the sample good on the back, you can see the even the photo is like that too. Maybe they try to emulate a side way grinning face?

Probably will get cheetor and be done with the line. Primal is way to expensive due to the rarity and I don't care for spider

Might just be 13 toys that turn into vague cybertonian whatevers. The only one with a concrete alt mode is Vector Prime. And only he and Alpha Trion have definitive robot modes.

If we go by the most fleshed out version of the 13 lore, the aligned version, Amalgamous is the only one of them that can transform at all
We're probably going to see some Jhiaxus retooling

I read all the US and UK stories minus Earthforce so far, which I'll also get around to.
Sidenote but how are the UK stories considered noncanon in G2/RG1/'84? Because it seemed very clear to me that basically everything from the UK stories was made retroactively canon in the US stories after Furman took them over, and I don't quite remember anything in G2 necessarily contradicting anything...
