Even when DC licenses for sale by Spin Master, the smaller (e.g. 3.75"-4" - or even 5" sized smaller), cheaper quality plastic that still can articulate, they retain or expect some QC; Imaginext toys that Mattel still has the license for are also not cheap ass quality, for what they are and the license they are aimed, just lower end, price point wise and where they are sold/marketed.
It also probably has to do with how much the designers are taking into account character design for this stuff.
