>>10902133>I'd love to find more local ones but it's oddly difficult to get any info on these things.Same here. I've been going to one in Philly for years and really only lucked into hearing about it. The dude that runs Zolocon/Zoloworld and I used to go the same flea market (sadly bulldozed for another Amazon warehouse). Some of his friends stopped by and talked about this new show starting up.
The thing with these shows is that so many of of them are ridiculously expensive to rent space at. Like I mentioned Zolocon, they were on a break while the guy was making his MOTU lookalike toys. When that was over with, the shown started back up.
Dude schedules it for Valentine's Day (joke all you want but cucks get shamed out of fun stuff on Valentine's, Mother's, anniversaries, etc). And it was the coldest windiest day in decades. I barely made my table back but I was willing to give it another shot. What does Zolotorow do? Makes it two days, triples booth prices, requires Friday setup, and schedules sit over Valentine's Day again. Nope'd right out of that and never went back.
Another guy out in Pittsburgh did the same sort of stuff. Huge price increases, Thursday setup, full price helper badges, dude even rents chairs separate from the table. Went from $100 to $500 inside of 5 years.
We had a local show at in Hershey but it was run by the guy who took the Harrisburg ComicCon registration money and ran. Second year he wanted Paypal friends and family instead of sending invoices. Clear as day what he was planning so I balked. Third show never happened, complete with "spend more time with family" speech.
