Yeah, it's the WCF head on a mash-up of various figures' bodies. I was thinking about switching the top half out for Figuarts Renji's upper body but then I think the skin tones would be too different and I think the edges of his tattoos are molded in, so that's just a little more work than I think it's worth.

What's the likelihood they actually improved the hips on this version of Luffy? I got Kaido today and after an hour of wrestling with that monstrosity, I pulled my Luffy out of storage and his right leg just falls off if you try move it at all, while the left one is still squeaky tight.

I dunno. They are both just on a straight peg, so come off easily if you pull them. Maybe they did it by design to avoid it snapping if they put a cap on it, but honestly I think the first Luffy was just rushed.

Regardless, i'm really looking forward to this one.

Talking of Kaido, how did you find him? I just can't stopping looking at him. Makes me wish we had other enemies for Luffy to fight, but honestly I think i'm the only person who would pay $200 for a Kaido sized Hody Jones.

Yeah found some pics and she's too tall. The height difference differs from scene to scene and Luffy is on the shorter side anyways but she's still only 6'3, she isn't meant to be bigger like Franky and Brook. They don't look as terrible as I thought they would side by side though, since you're sorta used to them being so different in height when you see Luffy and Hancock in the show. Its just next to stuff like Chogokin Franky or SHF Yamato she'll look weird since she isn't meant to be close to their height

She's honestly a little too big for my liking, maybe by a cm or so. It's not just the height, it's the overall scaling. Whilst it helps she has a smaller head compared to a lot of the other VAH figures, it doesn't quite work for SHF imho.

That said, I will concede that she looks a hell of a lot better with the SHF luffy than she does with the old VAH ones, lol.

I found 2 different sellers who sold me croc for $150 and WB for $200 recently. I can't justify any of the others.

It was a lot, but compared to the most aftermarket prices seemed fair.

Mihawk re-release was last summer and they didn't announce any others after which seems weird. I'm guessing it was an attempt to cash in on the Netflix buzz, but then why not also do east blue Zoro?

Megahouse are a funny company. Been following them the past 2 decades with their POP statue line and there is absolutely no rhyme or reason to their design, character choices or release schedule.

I paid the eBay price for Buzzmod Kanrogi and Rengok2, gonna fuck around with them later if anyone wants to see anything specific about them. The way they did Rengoku's haori (is his still a haori? I don't know Japanese robe designations) is a bit awkward but better than I thought at first.

The new Rengoku's haori has a big velcro strip on the back and a velcro attachment square that plugs into the hole in his back. If you don't want to put him in an action pose you can just skip all that and lay it across his back naturally.

Like you mentioned it gets a lot of statues so in a general sense it must be fairly popular if they keep making them. I always thought this series would be something figma would do but probably not with how that line is nowadays. I would hope someone other than anime heroes would pick it up, they probably wouldn't even make the girls.

I got Denji in. I think he looks fine if you pose away his shoulders and don't use his smiling faceplate that makes him look like the kid from Problem Child. Unfortunately, Denji's most natural look is some kind of neutral pose.

I only read the manga but my friend told me the Reze arc in the anime is going to be a movie. That being the case I think there's no way we don't get SHF Aki and a couple Reze figures from SHF or ThreeZero at the very least, so I'm happy with what we got even if they don't make much more.

Here you go. Yamaguchi on the right obviously. They only made this one in the line (with an interchangble torso) and then moved to mini for the others which are only around 4.5 inches.

Shame as I really want a Blackhole and Pentagon, but they're too small to display with figuarts.

His chest is a bit soft and squishy, it’s some kinda silicone. I’m always going to worry about tearing cause I’ve seen previous Storm figures that look really ragged, but he looks and feels good right now.

He's 1/6 which is fine for me since I collect hat scale. Raoh is coming soon. The rubber feels like the same material storm use for their torsos so hopefully it will like and the jacket and pants are real leather so won't flake.

I just wish he came with more heads. Gonna be pissed if they do an alt blue with red undershirt ver that has a screaming head.

I don't have Law in-hand yet, and he seems solid, but I'm not a huge fan of how the 'cape' was done. And the fact that it's permanently affixed isn't great.

That said the original 'problems' with the line were from the first 2 releases. Luffy was pretty solid, but the knees were honestly embarrassing. They were half done, and instead they just glued it down. Then they aren't particularly functional, getting less than 90 degrees of movement. All this when there have been examples of the same knee setup in different figures where it was done well, looked good and was functional. Then Zoro happened and he was an unmitigated disaster. Terrible shoulder setup, terrible 'dress' setup, just really bad, and this was for the second most popular character in the series. This was also around the time G5 Luffy was announced, and there was a ton of pessimism about how that will function. The 2 most popular characters being lackluster releases was not a good start to the line, but Sanji came out very solid, and Yamato was likewise good. Kaido is massive and a solid release as well. I think it's pretty safe to say that none of the releases so far have been exceptionally great, and with such a bad start (overall between the 2) it hurt the optics of the line. Things have definitely gotten better, and Kidd is looking great so far, I think.

Yeah Luffy being flawed didn't help. He's not nearly on the same level as Zoro though, he's a good figure with clear issues, unlike Zoro who's just outright bad. I've only heard good things about Kaido, Yamato and Sanji. Gear 5's limbs will likely be shit. Kid will probably be fine. The fact that neither this gen nor the SHF one have blown up with videos of broken Laws and complaining yet means that he's probably also fine. If he's really good I may even get him myself

There's a figma of Yoh and Anna, but for Yoh I like the rio:bone more. It comes with parts for his Byakko OS and I feel like it captures Takei's weird proportions and soft features a little better than the figma, probably because the figma is pretty clearly going for the look of the 2021 series. The rio:bone is also like three times more expensive on average, though.

My Luffy was terrible, I'm gonna replace him with he reissue. Zoro is fucking terrible, even after fixing his skirt his scabbards are still terrible. Sanji, Yamato, and Kaido are all incredible. I didn't buy any LA shit, I don't like Tamashii LA printing. Law and Kidd both look okay, the yellow looks like an old Laffy Taffy, and Kidds metal arm not being metallic painting look dissapointing. But if they can both stand with those big ass cloaks and little ass ankles, I'll be impressed.

Will a western toy company make anime/shonen toys again? I remember when Mattel made toys for shonen jump back in 2000s such as Shaman King, One Piece and Naruto or YuGiOh. I would enjoy that, I think a modern Mattel would do a great job, or Jazwares. I just want more anime toys in the west since it seems anime is on the rise again. Mattel DBZ would be cool.

Bandai have been slowly expending more and more into the western market and have the monopoly on most shonen licences. I dont see this changing, just bandai putting out more retail lines that appeal to demographics, like anime heroes and dragon stars like anon pointed out. I think they own the evolve line as well.
