>>10908881I think everyone agrees that the biggest problem with this line is the availability and, especially, rares and chases. But just how big a problem is it? I just spent a couple of minutes estimating in dollars how bad it is. After looking online to see how available things are to buy. I check my walmart and targets a couple of times a week when I'm in buying other shit. Finding stuff randomly is hit or miss, and finding rares and chases is impossible unless you devote all your time to it.
So with that in mind, how much would it actually cost to buy a single wave of this stuff, like the OP image of wave 5 not counting the exclusives? At approx MSRP the wave 5 stuff would be around $175-180 for one of each if you could just, yknow, actually get them without blind box shit and impossible to find items.
But, looking at it from a practical standpoint and going off of most common resell numbers of rares and chases, getting a complete wave would be closer to $550. This is on the low end of that too with me being generous torwards chase pricing.
So for the wave 5 picture it brings the average from just under $10 per ship(including all small blind boxes) all the way up to over $30 per ship. So in order to collect a single wave of this line you have to significantly overpay for every item. This wouldn't be such a big deal if chases and rares were more things like holo ships or gold painted stupid shit or even battle damaged versions of pre existing vehicles. But since the majority of these ships are often unique characters and sometimes even main characters it's absolutely insane. Even people who only want to focus on certain groups are screwed since things like jedi, villians, rebels, etc all have appeared in these slots.
