The sculpts for their larger figures look pretty rough, but at the micro scale they looks pretty good. I've never seen them in person though, so can't say for certain. If I ever found some at the dollar store I'd definitely grab a few. I assume the cards would be too big for figures to hold, but they're small representations of them, I guess. Maybe for 1/6 figures.

I mean, they're Happy Meal toys, I don't know why anyone would expect anything other than a lackluster toy/plush. They're basically just a cheap plush with faux parts and texture. The appeal of these are strictly the mash-up, YGO, and/or HK. And for what, the equivalent of 2 or 3 dollars apiece they're not bad.

I absolutely hate Funko Pops with a passion, but Cyber Dragons are my favorite archetype to play and I'm pretty starved for any merch these days so I bit the bullet and bought the Cyber End Dragon they put out. It's cool. For the most part. They went with a real drab grey for the main color, which is just unpainted plastic (that would've looked better with a metallic finish or something) but I can live with it. The little they DID paint could've stood to be painted sharper too, but whatever. The sculpt is nice though. It sort of looks to me what a Toon version of the card would look like. And it's a decent size. It would probably look good with some Figma or Phatmojo, but I don't have those. If you want one I'd probably say to wait for a discount, but it's supposed to be a Gamestop exclusive (?) so I dunno when that'd be.

To be fair, they look bad even for Mcdonalds toys.
They are esstially just two printed fabric sheets sewn together. Compare that to the old TY plushes they used to release at Mcdonalds, which weren't amazing but had actual three dimensional features.

Yeah, the best attitude to have i suppose. Humanoid Funkos suck dick, but the dragons have some cartoony charm.

Honestly a figure-rise cyber dragon would be so amazing. The mechaness suits model kits perfect, they'd be cheap so you could buy tons to make stuff like twin, end, zwei, etc.

Mattel also made those articulated ones in the Duelist packs. Maybe we'll luck out and get them in SHMA. That's probably the best direction they could go sales-wise. SHMA Blue-Eyes seems to have and be selling pretty well, and Red-Eyes PO have sold out really quickly, so hopefully that line is doing well and more will be on the way. Same for all the other lines.

The thing about Yu-Gi-Oh is that it was released at a time when a bunch of toys were being made, but as a franchise its fanbase just isnt big enough like Pokemon or Star Wars to have every single toy and toy line of it documented. So it has a bunch of toys lost to time forever

I saw BBTS has preorders for SHMA Blue Eyes. Is this new wave getting a model update or is this just 100% reissue? I can get a full set for 110 each off eBay, but if the new release has some upgrades I might be willing to throw out the extra cash. I know a handful of Blue Eyes where excessively white in some places so I am curious if maybe they did a new paint job or something on the reissue.

Not a biggie, a new one can just be made. Hopefully there will be some new toys to discuss soon, like an SHMA, possibly and SHF, more model kits, and I would assume a painted proto of Junk Warrior before we see anything else from Kaiyodo.

I think Mattel did a good job with the monster selection. I do wish that we got more, but I am grateful for what they were able to produce.

There were so many random ones that nobody cared about, but that's a good thing. That to me is how random buyers got new favorite monsters. That era where minifigures were so common was always great for lots of variety. Sadly it doesn't seem like brands like YGO will reach that point again, at least for toys. I'm still glad with what we're getting though, and I hope it keeps up. In the last year we've had toy announcements for BEWD, REBD, Exodia, BLS, E Hero Neos, Junk Warrior, Accesscode Talker, Divine Arsenal Zeus, and even IP Masquerena. That's a lot of high-end YGO toys in not too long. Kind of odd that we haven't heard about a new DM or DMG (or a reissue Figma, since they're reissuing the Nendo) given their iconic status.
