Also, just got my VAMP today and it's great. Maybe I became a HasBro but this thing surpassed my expectatives, bigger than I expected and definitely worth the price.
I'm leaving Clutch and Grunt together, I remember them being pals in the comics.

For what its worth, I got retro Duke, retro Recondo, Quick Kick, Big Boa from Amazon and Techno Viper from hasbro pulse all this last Monday. Retro Scarlet, from Amazon, is the only preorder I had that did not ship. They may not have produced as many, and we just have to wait for the actual release date on her.

It is kinda fucked up to see people complaining about the other lines in ways that sound like Hasbro raped their dog, meanwhile my worst complaint recently is Quick Kicks swords fall out very easily, but even that I realize is because it would scrape the paint I guess. I would have preferred dull unpainted plastic for swords that lock in better

Same, I'm familiar with G.I. Joe after first seeing the Built To Rule sets as well as the Sigma 6 anime but never really got into the toys since I was more of a vehicle guy than an action figure guy and I wanted the vehicles to be big. Nowadays one thing led to another and I've dived into the action figure rabbit hole and ended up here. And just in time as Hasbro are now starting to roll out vehicles suitable for 6 inch figures. Got a pre-order in for the Heatseek Missile System, just need to track down a VAMP here in Australia to tow it once it arrives.

I really like Classified but the QC issues are just starting to get to me. The quality of the army building figs recently has been garbage. I bought 3 action soldiers at full price for $120 after tax, all three have.

Yea they look nice and the paint apps are good, the parka is cool but fuck do the downsides sucks. This shit isn't cool for a $35 deluxe figure.

Heads, hands, gear but if its just a cheaper plastic or poorly constructed figure then yeah its a gyp since its re used parts. I look at legends and transformers and dread the day we get the budget cuts. Neither of those lines are nearly as good as they were a few years back.

After this last Classified wave I kinda feel like both Classified and ML have been going on two different trajectories in terms of QC issues. Like Classified is getting worse where surprisingly ML is starting to get better. Some of the comic figs they've put out lately aren't bad. Classified still has vehicles going for it though and the VAMP is awesome.

Big Boa>Airborne>Quick Kick>Metal Head>Techno Viper

I was really looking forward to Techno Viper but he is by far the biggest disappointment second to Metal Head. I like the look but TV has major qc issues with the build being super loose and the accessories are really soft. MH has the lame issue with the rockets but it edges out over TV because it's build issues aren't near as bad as TV. Big Boa and Airborne came out better than I expected.

Damn, all this talk about the newer figures having issues is kind of bumming me out...

Though, to be fair, as much as I like the VAMP, my Clutch's right leg pops off constantly. Either his ball socket isn't formed right, or the ball peg isn't formed right, but for the life of me, I can't figure out what the problem is to get it to stay on better.

I mean it's not that bad, I don't have any real issues with Airborne, Quick Kick, or Big Boa. I have zero problems spending full price on those figures and I'm happy with the purchase.

Agree. Last time I had a problem was like a year ago with Storm Shadow having a super stiff balljoint on his right hip, but it was really easy to fix, just a bit of sandpaper.
Tbh, I'm not that bothered with that kind of qc problems; could be seen as conformist but for 25 bucks a Joe, it's not that big of a problem.

Didn't buy Action Soldier but maybe I'll do. Still deciding if that one or Tunnel Rat.

I can't get him to hold his rifle in a way that looks natural. The oversized forearm bracers just get in the way, beyond that, he's beautiful. Mines extra tight, but a guy earlier in the thread had an extra loose one, so your experience may differ.

They didn't really even talk about anything new for GI Joe. The things they did, we've already known about for a while. All they did was announce POs opening on the 4th, and name-dropped the Once a Man CC, which will be kind of weird to even think about for Classified.

So that's why the Classified Ferret main gun got a nerf in size compared to the original, it's to make it wieldable by the driver. I'm ok with that though I would've still preferred the howitzer-like gun of the original, it should still be wieldable despite the size.

Quick Kick is basically a low rent Shang Chi. Japanese-American soldier who's into kung fu. In the 80s cartoon he has a frat bro personality that made him kind of fun to play as though IDW ruined him by having him come out as an anti-white bigot who brutally assaulted Snake Eyes out of the blue while calling Snake Eyes a racist for daring to be into ninja shit, because Sitterson was a shitstain who hates any white guy who is into king fun/ninja shit. In the comics, he didn't do much except job to Storm Shadow and got killed by a Saw Viper, as Hama hated him for upstaging Storm Shadow. .

Techno-Vipers, their shit depends on your lore. File card-wise, they are basically the mechanics of Cobra, who repair and service vehicles for the organization.... but Hama used them as literal "tech" guys, who run and operate Cobra's computers as a sort of companion squad to the Tele-Vipers.

Big Boa was created for an aborted plan to get the rights to Sylvester Stallone/Rocky for an exclusive figure that got killed when Stallone instead sold his likeness rights to Remco instead for a Rambo toy line. Big Boa was going to be a Cobra boxer/rival for Rocky but got turned into a generic masked trainer for Cobra troops; think Beachhead but evil. I think Quick Kick was Chinese-American, he's a silent weapons expert, and in the cartoon he was a martial arts actor and stuntman who joined the Joes after he saved Alpine and Bazooka from being eaten by seals. But you're basically right that he was fun in the cartoon and didn't do much in the comics. The IDW Quick Kick vs Snake Eyes thing was part of the wider "westerners doing martial arts is cultural appropriation" thing that people like Sitterson went all in on, a lot of them finally shut up about it when Cobra Kai was too popular for them to kill.

Quick Kick's Classified figure comes with the chocolate bar he'd been filming an ad for in the cartoon that introduced him.

While I have no experience swapping limbs and such I do know that head-swapping can be a pain. Head peg size between the figures are inconsistent, some are the same and some are not. In some instances, a repaint might have a differently sized head peg than the original mold it repainted from like the BAT bots.

The unmasked head sculpt's been positively received especially given how they didn't technically have to include it but not only gave him an alternate unmasked head but also did a steller job quality-line, especially in light of how they fucked up Cover Girl, Falcon, and Metal Head.

While Barbacue never had a proper unmasked head, Airtight had an unmasked head in the POC line and Copperhead and Wild Weasel had their faces shown in the Faux Thunderbolts storyline in Devil's Due (and Wild Weasel's face was also shown in the famous dog fight issue of the Marvel series)

The 12" joes were my first joes, never really got into the 1/18 ones. I remember buying a bunch of clothes off monkey depot and at garage sales to dress up my main guy, my dad rode a harley and once when he was buying some parts for his bike the guy through in pic related and I loved playing with it. I'd really like to see hasbro do a "vintage" line where they remake some of the older joes whether there adventure team or historical or just interesting like the motorcycle cop or astronaut, sorta in the same way they did the recent action soldier and action sailor.

That's the point, seeing them unmasked wasn't treated like a big deal, the comics or cartoons could just casually throw in scenes where you got to see their faces. It was never treated like there was some secret about who was under the mask, they were just normal looking guys with no mysterious past. Cobra is all over the place ideology-wise.

Cobra Commander is part G Gordon Liddy, Richard DeVos (founder of Amway, and father-in-law of Trump Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos), and Bloefeld. With elements of Hitler (mostly visuals of Nazi rallies/Hitler giving speeches not ideology) and Yosemite Sam tossed into the mix (as the cartoon writers explicitly stated they began writing CC as if he was Hitler 2.0 but only really started to find the character's voice when they ditched the Hitler angle and wrote him as a terrorist version of Yosemite Sam. Same, I have a few hundred army builders from ML, Valaverse, and Classifieds. I have the most red ninjas, around 26 both of them (Cobra and Hand), 12 Cobra troopers, 40 Hydra goons, and around 20 each of the Valaverse troop builders. I'm going to be getting about 20 each of the Monster force guys depending on quality, there is a blue soldier zombie that can be a pretty good proxy for Cobra troopers.

Also that company is literally like two or three people so it's okay if things move slowly for them. They pretty much have to wait until they get a certain number of preorders in until they can commit the factory time. They post test shots and paint samples for Monster Force on their IG if you want updates to make yourself feel a little better

You can probably count on one hand the number of truly "bad" head sculpts. Overall, I think they've gotten better over time. The first Scarlett was probably just one of the better sculpts in the line, and Duke was pretty good, but naturally, all the whiny pissants had to screech about how they looked like Fortnite characters or whatever, so they started changing everything.

Tiger Force Outback has probably my favorite head sculpt and paint job out of all of the Joes.

So the half dozen Lady Jayes at my local Wal-Mart and the last remaining Scrap-Iron have been dumped into the discount section and marked down to $16 and $29 each. Worse, a random Wal Mart worker I talked to said "they aren't going to carry GI Joe anymore he thinks", since they already did their spring reset of the toy department (which wasn't a reset at all so much as moving everything around and no new products put out)

Local Gamestop recently put out a random loose Rock and Roll they had in the back and the new employees (the store has horrific turn around because the manager is an asshole) has no clue if they'll get any new figures in and haven't had any new figures in ages.

And my local comic shop has sworn off the line after the first and only wave they got in was the god-awful Nunchuck/Bazooka/Tunnel Rat wave which has shelf-warmed like crazy to the point I'm tempted to just buy Nunchuck and use him as a generic ninja henchman since no one fucking wants him.

I finally broke down and got Hawk and Big Boa off of Amazon and hope to get Shockwave and Techno-Viper next payday. But I still need to save up cash for Vamp/Clutch online but it's going for rape dollar price of which, I could finally freaking get Serpentor for the price of Clutch/Vamp.

Half of this shit wouldn't be so bad if I could get figures at retail but this is some stupid fucking shit as the line is once again dead where I live in person buying-wise.

Walmart sucks, because they had so much of the retro-carded shit on pegs for so long. I'm fucking over seeing carded Baroness, Lady Jaye, Destro, and Gung-Ho. Even the Crimson Guards were starting to peg warm.

The stuff hasn't been difficult to get online, though. Some of the stuff does sell out quick, especially the vehicles which kind of sucks, but when it comes to the vehicles, you do kind of have to jump on them right away unfortunately.

Really, it seems like figures that go up and then just never come back in any capacity are actually pretty rare. I can only think of a few things like the Range Vipers, Big Ben, and a couple others (not counting like, actual convention exclusives like Serpentor, Mindbender, etc.) that were truly nearly impossible to get.

I'm not a Premium member either, and I got the VAMP just fine. It was up for a while, as I think the price was a little bit of a turn-off for some people at first. Though, as it got closer to release, it sold out. The Ferrets sold out pretty quick too. I'd say it just isn't a good idea to take too much time on the vehicles. Even if you're not sure about them, you should still probably get them, because chances are that if you end up not wanting it, you can still end up just reselling it for more than you paid anyway.

Even if this version of the VAMP doesn't come back in stock (which would be sad...I think it will/should) I'm sure there will be many, many repaints of it.

Yeah turns out it is, I'm assuming they advertised it upside down because it's more natural to reach for the tools under rather than over the back. But at the same time it makes the hose connection more awkward, at least it's as easy as turning it 180 degrees on a single peg. Imagine if it was a specialized connection like Metalhead's.

It didn't carry over until the current Classified wave that he would have a beret accessory and part of me thinks they only gave it to him to wear accessory-wise, because they needed another character to have one so they could justify having Flint have said accessory instead of just molding his head with the beret on it.

People do talk about it some, but I think it is almost exclusively because many of the figures are more traditional soldiers and stuff, plus he actually managed to also do some figures like Sgt. Slaughter, and some "not" versions of some classic Joes, but many of the females look like trannies, and the rest of the figures are incredibly stock. He's also doing a vehicle that looks like a Soccer mom SUV, and the figures can tend to be pretty brittle.

I think just about the only thing I can say is that some of the generic bad guy troopers are kinda cool looking, similar to a lot of cobra troopers.

But honestly, there's tons of companies making figures similar to Classified now, and they almost all look more interesting than the Valaverse stuff.

If Classified didn't come out as hard and fast as it did, I probably would've grabbed a few Vala figures. But with the Joe line being so damn consistently top tier and dropping so many figures so often, I haven't felt any need to supplement my forces with Vala's more generic soldiers. The figures on average cost more, look far more boring and have the cheesiest story attached to em, so my interest in the line is pretty much non-existent and I feel those are common complaints from people who avoided Action Force.

Had his vehicle not been a soccer mom SUV with a turret, I might have been interested in that. But it's not only fairly bland looking, it's also excessively overpriced and doesn't even include the missile launcher as that's an add-on set. If it ever hits a deep discount, it'd be a maybe since 1:12 vehicles are rare in general, but it's not something I absolutely need on my shelf.

Typically, you want the filter on one side, so you can still attempt a proper cheek weld with your rifle. So with your guy there, he'd have his left filter on since he looks right-handed. It isn't such a hard rule, just common practice with a lot of gas masks.

In NJ the better Walmart near me only had Lady Jay clogging the pegs; even worse when they were finally clearanced the pegs had labels for retro Destro & Crimson Guards, figures I actually was looking for. I’m happy that the retro line is both no longer Walmart only, and getting better.

I may have to double dip on this quad. I normally avoid the TF repaints but Wreckage just looks all kinds of fun. And that helmet is so cheesy I kind of need it in my collection. With PP Pods still haging around after the 50% sale at my local targets, I think I'll just wait. Well considering the fact he was literally just a Firefly repaint originally, I don't mind this reuse. He does come with the alt helm if it's that big of an issue though.

That said, I like the original Classified Firefly so him using the Retro head bothers me even less since for me it would a new head.

Yea, didn't even have a chance myself. I'm hoping this thing floods shelves and goes on discount like previous vehicle packs. I remember seeing the TF Duke set for dirt cheap, but I never wanted the set so I always passed on it.

Yeah, i passed that duke too since it was so common but now im sol. Its no biggie really, ive got the cobra ferret, so missing out on tiger paw pre orders is ok. I do like the paw driver though.

It's fine don't worry. Duke Ram and Pods sold out online when it was first announced, then it just piled up in stores. Duke Ram ended up at ROSS for $10. TF & PP isn't like the CI troopers and vipers and Major Bludd, they're not a must haves for the majority of fans.

Man, the field variant Scarlett head looks so much better on the retro body than the new head does. skin tone is a perfect match for the neck too, the only problem is the neck ball on the new body is too small for the old head

Looks a tad small, but glad to finally see someone do it. I always preferred the paler skin tone of the wave 1, but the darker hair of the field variant. May have to grab yet another to try a hair swap with the Retro.

I like the wreckage repaint, and i dont have that helmet in any shape yet so itd be nice to have. I never found that boat, i saw the glider but passed since itd just take up space.

I'm getting to where more and more I'm just wanting to wait until release to see how figs turn out with the exception of vehicles. I don't care about getting figs quickly anymore after the garbage ass QC on some of the figs in this last wave. I can deal with soft weapons but this shit isn't cool. For $35 the action soldier is built like fucking trash.

I have two and the waist is really loose on both of them causing them so swivel freely by about 30 degrees. I have more but I don't know if I even want to open them. The overall build just feels really loose and janky. My techno vipers have issues as well. What I think is happening is Hasbro is just running the molds into the ground on troop builders so there isn't out of stocks. Which would explain why some peoples are fine and others are garbage. The exact same thing happens on repaints when a mold has been used way too much and that's why figs like crimson B.A.T.S are worse than the original ones when it comes to build quality.
