>>>6249540 As much as I hate the Transformers movies you don't see that brand getting dumped by retailers after the films.Yeah, but retailers continued ordering GI Joes after the first movie. It got rebranded because Hasbro didn't think it was worth it to keep using Paramount's royalties, but retailers continued ordering GI Joe products because they still sold.
GI Joe 2 being rescheduled and being stuck with the product for a year without any support is what killed it in retailers eyes. Movie lines are sold mostly through the recognition of the characters, and because GI Joe 2 pretty much was a redo with a whole new set of characters, both fans and casualswhobuymovieshit weren't buying up toys of characters they were familiar with. So that shit stuck around for an entire year, if stores even bothered to stock up after wave 2.
I know my local Targets stopped ordering stuff despite empty shelfs after two months, so wave 2.5 never happened for me.
Transformers got support because none of their movies ever got delayed. If there was a year from release of the toys to the release of the movie, you can bet your ass retailers would be soured and fans/casuals not buying the mess of characters no one knows.
>>6249578My TRUs went through their stock in 3 weeks. So they never even made it to the first holiday, Thanksgiving/Black Friday. They got one resupply, two weeks after they were initially put out.
>>6249793No thank you.
I enjoy my army men with a twist of scifi and fantasy. No Adventure/Safari/IndianaJones shit, plz.
