the torso is as old as the second Ninjago wave. It also has only one center hole, so it doesn't fit on Lego legs. You can gowever put it on Kre-o legs, but they are slightly higher than Lego's, so there is next to no difference

You need to be in a special lego club consisting of the 30 best builders world wide. These people will get an invitation to a special event where half of them are allowed to buy this set. Show had a lot of good sets, especially in the pirate and ghost waves, but I like the general aesthetic of movie ones more, also having civilians in a lot of sets is a nice touch. So far my favorites are red mech and modular.

Well,Season 8 is done. They are working on 9 and 10 right now. I think 10 is the finall one and then they will introduce Bioncle G3 reboot which will be a succes and then they will try to reboot Ninjago wich will be only 2 years because it will suck.

Odds are high that after s10 they'll do a second movie. Since bonkle and chima didn't do well enough, UA didn't catch on at all (probably due to boring as fuck good guys), and while NK seems to sell well it's not ready to replace Ninjago, it's probably here to stay for now - or at least until some new similar theme will be similarly succesful, like pirates in the 80s/90s and bonkle in the 2000s were before Ninjago.

I think Lego considers keeping Ninjago afloat to be a good idea at least partially since you can basically sell anything under this label, though. No point in introducing separate themes focusing on mechas or dragons if you can just add some Ninjago figs and sell them under this banner. I don't really mind myself, I just wish there were some more playsets alongside the vehicles and monsters, surely making stuff similar to the D2C temple and now market street on slightly smaller scale wouldn't be too hard?

Bionicle lore was only good before the movies, ninjago lore is too simplistic to care and boils down to "here's the new bad guy"
or "new bad guy resurrects old bad guy and they team up". Since the Ninjago movie seems to have a fun cyberpunk aesthetic, based on this I'd rather have more of this than tribal robots, though.

Had this happen to me with a bar and another piece in the Metalbeard's Duel set. I couldn't get the two pieces to separate without breaking them, so I called Lego and complained. They sent me two replacement pieces that attached properly.

I used a pair of clips. That's how I make most of my hoverklocki, since it's a very space-efficient way of making a 180-degree rotation and gives you some SNOT pieces perpendicular to whatever you're joining together.

I don't know how some of you do it, but taking a good series of photographs is like an olympian feat for me. After a good 10 hours i only have a rather slim selection of pictures. Atleast i made some modern art of toiletpaper and masking-tape in the process.

Man was super hyped to jump back into Lego again. Not only made a bunch of stuff i want to show you guys, but i'm still recovering from last threads news.
I simply still can't believe Lego is actually releasing a huge multi-level cyberpunk modular just before my birthday.
I've said it before and i'll say it again, in the future we'll look back on this era as a new goldenage of Lego.

I will be more than happy to make a poster at that scale/dimensions for anyone who wants it. When the Ninjago typeface is released I might remake the poster using that instead.

This was pretty much where I was putting the parts of anything I wasn't planning to put back together. Got close to full after the first 2 times, so I had to go out and grab something larger to keep them in (which I didn't even think about getting a picture of). Sorry about the blogpost.

Also, quick question - is it better to pour in pure Simple Green for cleaning or to dilute it in water a bit?

I freely admit I have Nostalgia vision, I loved them when they first came out, had a lot of the slizar/throwbot stuff too (lost most of it sadly), I like the creator sets because they tend to come with a decent variety of pieces. Ninjago and Nexo Knight are at the top of the list because it's what brought me out of my so called "dark age"

my friend never had legos growing up. and for some reason, i am dead set on giving him legos for his birthday.

i have no idea what to get him. i tried asking him what he likes and he was like 'video games, rpgs'.

i managed to get from him a few useful things, though.
character customization is a thing he likes, a lot, he mentioned he prefers not playing predefined characters and 'doing his own thing'.

It's going to be more effort than getting a set but lego doesn't have a straight-up fantasy line going at the moment, and besides a more personalized gift is more better

I'd put together an adventuring party, then get a bunch of hair, weapon, equipment etc. pieces so he can swap shit around and customize them to his heart's content. CMF Knight and CMF Rogue are an obvious start, I'm pretty sure there's also a wizard.

Yes and no.

Not sure how their current system works, but it used to be that missing parts orders got reviewed manually (often because the parts selection on the website is missing pieces, or certain selections are just out of stock, so reps have to manually find substitutes, like updated molds or one of the mini bags that contains the piece you need).

They could also see the dollar value of all missing pieces sent to you/your address ever. So, if that number was high, it typically meant they'd review your previous orders and see what the situation was (sometimes a part in the system might say it's worth $10, when it's really a 10 cent piece, or if you had a bad Power Functions part, that'd make your total jump up. And minifigs).

If it seemed like you were abusing then the next step was to request proof of purchase, such as a copy of your receipt.

But it wasn't an automatic thing, unless your account had been flagged by someone paying attention. So, if your order was looked at by someone that wasn't thorough, or cared, then you'd probably get it no problem.

If you CALL to get those parts, instead of use the web system, you could probably distract them/bs your way through it so long as your account wasn't flagged already.

Well there are different level to enjoy Lego (and toys in general for some).

Some have a starwars ship in their closet as decoration and a fun "nerdy" novelty.
Others because they apreciate the design of the original material/characters and/or the lego set aproximating it.
Some just love putting bricks together to wind down and relax.
Some have sets around they used to like as nostalgia.
Some use them for display only.
Some do it just for the collecting aspect.
Some rare true OG niggas don't give a fuck and actually enjoy pewpew playing pretend with them.
A lot of them atleast customize the models and/or build custom models, dioramas or even entire landscapes completely by their own design.
Some like making cool photos of said things they build. Posing figures and vehicles around.
Some make elaborate backstories and lore for them.
Some make comics or stories.
Some even do interactive D&D style tabletop games with them.

Feel free to combine any of these and you get the idea.

But of course every mech needs a mech pilot. I looked around through all my spare torsos and saw the two pink 80s Workout Lady CMF torsos I have. I have been meaning to heresy them to make them plain pink female torsos, but it was a daunting task since there was so much printing to remove directly adjacent to printing I wanted to keep, and just a lot of printing in general to remove.

But I decided that the time was right, so I started in on it, and surprisingly was able to get it just about perfect. I only had one tiny bit left to clean up, so I started back up again, and five seconds later realized that I hadn't put down a guard strip and I had just erased half a boobie.

The AT-TE and Republic Gunship are nice (though the cone cannons are silly). I really wish something could prompt a rerelease of the best Prequel ship, and that is the Venator Class Star Destroyer.

It's a great set. Sits nicely with the wing folded up and doesn't take up anymore room than the Tydirium Shuttle does. It's wingspan is comically huge though.

It does have 2 exclusive figures of the only likable characters, so that's a plus in K2S0 and Director Krennic.

Finally finished this one, been under construction for couple of months, but I barely touched it. Turned out much flimsier than in the upper part I expected - both arms and the back of the cockpit just hold on 8 studs, and this is considerable weight, like half of overall weight or so. But despite the fact you have to hold this flimsy part together with the front while acrticulating arms, it's pretty stable. Need to make some poses later.

Yes. Try not to notice all the molding seams and plastic-reducing cost cutting methods on the new molds. Also try not to notice how many bricks- especially whites and yellows- come discolored brand new.

New Y-Wing is great. Is much bigger than you'd expect and has nice playability. It's so solid as fuck considering the engines are only connected by 2 pegs each.

It's also the only way we probably ever get Admiral Raddus or the big White monster dude...so they'll be a collectors item on the future.

Pick up any standard new 1x1 brick. There will be a very visible seam on one side.

Chima is alright
Some heads are cool (crocs and birds) while some are terrible (lions) but the actual heads have some pretty neat face prints that make great aliens and monsters
The sets themselves are also hit and miss and are usually just "animal head on vehicle". It's really not for adults

Try maybe checking craigslist/letgo/kijiji, there may be some people selling gallon-sized plastic bags full of parts, $10 per pound or so. Usually each bag is "themed" (grays and blacks, colors, technic pieces, etc). Definitely a better deal than buying complete sets, unless there are specific pieces from the sets you want.

What's the best way to become a Lego designer? I'm sure there are others here who are at least somewhat interested in becoming one.
I've talked to a few Master Builders (surprisingly a lot were freelancing industrial art/sculpting college grads), read designer interviews, and sat through a few presentations of the set design process. Aside from basic advice like "Build a porfolio to show" or "Work as an intern and climb" there seems to be a lot of different avenues in landing the job. I know some were Mocers before, some were hired based on location, and still others who were hired simply because they worked at lego before. I was wondering if anyone else knew more about the subject. Are there any skills, traits, or qualities that lego looks for when hiring designers?

So I got bored and gave 7 wide a try. I'd say it was easier than the 5 wide, but you have to have a ton of plates handy. Especially 3 wides.

The shape certainly looks better in this size as well, and I was even able to get functioning doors on it.

The A-Wing is also probably the best version we've ever gotten. Sturdy as fuck, the spring loaded shots are hidden and don't look out of place, has good size, very easy to swoosh around.

Making a megaship out of two ships that don't have matching color schemes? No go. I'd take the Phantom apart though, looks like a chicken nugget and could definitely be made into something better. Keep the Milano intact though, and mod the interior like I did

From the Sariel interview (wich admittedly was more technic specific) they said it was generally not a good idea to specifically try and get a Job at Lego because the teams are so small. But if you do want to have a shot, engineering and design background is the way too go, prolly together.

Don't quote me on this though, the interviews and tour around the billund factory are on youtube. (that walk through the warehouse memory lane with every created set ever was magical and almost brought a tear to my eye.)

I assume he's talking about those slideshows that Lego shows from time to time. IIRC Bionicle G2 and NK had few nice ones and I remember at SW celebration they did a good one that focused on Rey's Speeder but also the process of designing SW sets as a whole.
