How does the old classics Devastator scale up with next to the CW Combiners? I know he's far from being great but I frankly do sort of like his overall clumsy aesthetics and I want something on the same size as CW Bruticus and Menasor.

People have been pointing out he may have broken it since he pulled it out while the head was still attached to the bubble. So while it is fragile due to that section having a pin that goes through multiple pieces of thin plastic, the guy was also an idiot for not making sure it was safe to pull it out.

Im new to transformers and i wanted to have Scourge
but...looks like there is Takara Scourge that is way better color-wise than regular scourge.
But my regular scourge already on the way to me.
Oh well... should have search further before making an order.

Takara's scourge has a fucking glorious color-choice while regular one is a blue plastic brick for me now...

Look, I say this as an owner of one takara, 3 hasbro scourges, you didn't fuck up, hasbro did, but you can just grab a silver sharpie and just color up the arms a bit or white if you wish.

If anything the shipmode is better on the hasbro, just be glad you didn't get pic related, although a reissue on him is coming out so unlike scourge no wallet rape

I do agree that vehicle mode goes for Hasbro... takara didnt paint exausts on both sides for some reason
and i think decepticon symbol looks better on Hasbro vehicle mode on that clear empty space

That's par the course. Takara has a strong emphasis on show accuracy and doesn't have a rigid class price point, so they can afford to have more paint and sometimes even new tooling. Sadly Takara reveals their versions of molds after Hasbro, which can sometimes be months after the fact.

You have to set your priorities since sometimes Hasbros can be just as good but in a different way. It's all on your own personal taste and how much you want to spend on it, especially when a Takara can go for twice as much or more plus import.

Also you may want to act quickly on those Scourge reissues. They seem to be sold out on almost every site I frequent.

Reshelling is another phrase for retooling, which is changing some of the molding for a toy. Reshelling means that new tooling goes towards the vehicle mode, though there's very few examples I can think of that really fit that definition since most also change the robot mode as well.

Closest I can think of is Crumplesone and Dark Crumplezone from Cybertron. The Prime Beast Hunter Autobots also come to mind, those are closer to standard retools.

I haven't seen anyone else with the leg issue, but thin face paint is pretty common so you got a good one.

I can agree that it does feel cheap in hand. The arms being Overload-tier takes a lot away from it's solidness.

The Classics / Henkei is stumpy in terms of articulation but he still looks pretty decent as a G1-ish display piece in both modes, hence why it's so fun to army build his repaints. If they built a Voyager centered around the same overall design but with better clearance for articulation and slightly more slender proportions then HasTak would have a winning formula to shill out new Seeker / Conehead / Rainmaker repaints for years to come.

During RotF, energon Superion got repainted and released as a box set. I was hype too, since I knew about the Aerial Appendage upgrade and planned on having "the best Superion!". Never did get the upgrade set, other stuff came up, but looking back now it's funny how we desperately clawed at any representation of certain characters, you just HAVE to have certain people in your collection no matter how bad the toy.

I mean, seeing a G1 character being decently reproduced on that scale, especially in a mass retail product, was pretty impressive for the time. Universe and Generations would outdo Classics and early Henkei molds in every way but finding a line directly based on G1 reincarnations back in 2006 was nothing short of amazing.

Yep, I didn't complete any combiners besides Bruticus, and that's because his proportions can at the very least be improved with a slightly different leg positioning. Nothing else interested me in the least when it comes to CW, I would have probably dropped out of Transformers if it wasn't for the at the very least aesthetically competent molds of TR.

It's not a homonym for retooling.
It's where the figure is identical aside from the outer panels which make up the alt mode. See: FOC Jazz -> FOC Sideswipe for the perfect example of a re-shell

I took a dip into the Legends scale poor today. I ordered ten different ones from CW and TR from BBTS for $98. They didn't have Brawn. You himself, so I had to order the wave set with Roadburn too. Wanted Bombshell and Powerglide, but they were $28 for the pair or $25 for those and their two wavemates. Two extra toys for less money? I'll bite.

Not a bad deal overall. I haven't ordered from them before, so hopefully it gets here okay. Email says it'll be here by next Tuesday. That's about how good Amazon's free shipping usually is.

Hasbro Kup might have an ugly helmet and disgusting arms but it doesn't look autistic like the Takara version. Hasbro Hot Rod has the most retarded sprue distribution ever but it doesn't use transparent plastic for the chest. Hasbro Astrotrain looks bland but at least you can check if it has one right hand and one left hand and will often come with one side each unlike Takara Astrotrain. The only one of the EX sets that got anything else were the Lynx Master team (Ratchet got Rooks weapon, his axe was given to Hound), and the Baldigus team (their normal weapons, Computron Hands and Feet, plus extra weapons from Scattershot and some of the Constructicons).

Yeah, and all those 2nd string heroes and villains from Marvel Legends just fly right off the fucking shelves instead of Wolverine #552 right? They totally don't sit there shelfwarming until the end of time during which Walmart finally shoves them into a discount bin 4 years later.

People want characters they know. This holds up for any franchise. "Literally who's" always shelfwarm, and can usually be found for a deep discount. And shit, most of the Headmaster's characters fall pretty firmly into the "Literally who" catagory anyway, because they were never really that popular. Atop that, TF's has an absolutely titanic roster of characters compared to most franchises, to the point that they have a metric shitton more "Literally who's" than probably any other franchise out there. So that much more to shelfwarm and ignore unless you happen to be a fan of some random fuck from a line 30/20/10/etc years ago.

My point is toys have to sell. They have to be something people want to buy. Shelves full of literally whos don't make money, they make trash bin fodder. Possibly because thats what started the whole thing, and just like comics and movies and anything else, ANYTHING new is compared to the old and fans draw people to the original or best versions of the material. Those are the designs that sell best, that people want the most. A whole fucking industry has popped up to give people more of that, something that has never happened with any other toy line. You don't have chinese tripping over themselves to make all new super articulated MP Luke Skywalkers, but they're doing it for TF's.

It's really astonishing at this point people can be so dense and blind to what the fandom at large wants. It should've slapped you in the face the moment we started seeing the ultra cartoony MP's. Not liking it personally doesn't mean your opinion is the majority's, and it's obvious what the majority wants by seeing the newer Gen designs, the MP's, etc.

After RotF, the only way I could watch AoE was drunk and pirated. It was indeed garbage. One scene I recall laughing at during the leadup to the film was from the trailer, when Optimus punches Grimlock into the ground the fucking grass combusts, like a small explosion occurs where Grimlock's head makes contact with the ground. It's sort of amazing how shit these films are, yet still rake in cash.

I'm still hoping for a proper Warpath and Gears someday. I bought Marvel's Transformers #3 new so I will always have a special spot for Gears. I need a tiny Spider-Man to go with him.

The Gears repaint of Generations Swerve is about as good as it gets, if you need one. Thundercracker isn't needed unless you have or want the other two, Windcharger is pretty lackluster and will get a better version soon, everything else you listed is pretty great. I skipped Bumblebee since I have so many but Roadburn is pretty great, I love the little orange face.

IDW's honestly pretty good. Like, easily the best TF fiction we've had, period, thus far in the franchise's history. It's really no better or worse than most comics out there, so you don't have much to lose by reading it. Like any comic, it has highs and lows due to the revolving door nature of comic writers.

This. I always imagined the war lasted so long because it was being fought by nearly-indestructible robot warriors who hardly aged, and both sides were constantly forging more. It became a battle of attrition where it was hard as fuck to actually keep a soldier down.

I'm not complaining about them making him something different than what he was in the geewun cartoon; I'm complaining that they had to make him a fanfic writer and treating that almost as a running joke.
It's kind of interesting but it feels like they are swerving his character from what was the logical conclusion to his G1 bio into a SO FOONEE ECKS DEE punchline of a character. Like, he is now more "that WACKY robotman that writes about office ladies" than the heroic robotman that stopped Megatron's final solution.

TR Windblade is the best non-3P version of the character so far by a long shot. For one, she can actually stand, which is a leg up over the Gen. version. Her only real downside is the stuff hanging off her back (which, lets face it, is far more common in TF's than anyone likes to admit), and her kinda thin wrists. Not that they'll break or anything, just the rest of her is so UNGH THICC that the small wrists/forearms are a little off model, so to speak.

The point is that Thundercracker doesn't care anymore. He doesn't want to be a part of the war. Thundercracker may seem like a joke if you only read a few pages, but he's proven himself to be an asset to both Earth and the Autobots. I'm pretty sure Optimus Prime officially welcomed him as an Autobot, but he prefers to pursue his own interests, which honestly makes him a unique character among most Cybertronians.

$30 with Chromia is pretty alright, considering they were around $15 each at retail. Get Victorion if you just want femmes period, she's not terrible. Strongarm is good too, at least one of her toys is. Get Ripclaw if you haven't, she's a dragon predacon.

My local TRUs and Wally-Worlds are stuck on the Hot Rod/Twinferno wave, half of the shelf space got replaced with wrestling figures.

Maybe I'll take a look at reviews for Chromia and Arcee after getting TR Windblade - if one fembot isn't enough, may as well have three

Maybe generations Arcee isn't too bad, but she just has bits of black on random spots around her body

Kinda shit because they're big silver and yellow things, but given if you collect toys you're probably going to be drowning in extra guns/swords, you'll surely find something you can give her.

I honestly think people would be better receiving of her swords if they were cast in purple and not piss yellow.

Yes, though her tits are more of a shelf as opposed to the custom you may have seen floating around here in the past. I have no connection to RiD but I like my Strongarm well enough, a police cadet fembot is a nice addition. I lucked out and got Victorion for $50 when I had more disposable income, and wound up pleasantly surprised having expected very little, Pyra Magna in particular is great.
You could always track down Energon Arcee and her various repaints, if you're hard up for girl-bots anon.

Just to be sure I double checked on Ebay and there are only sealed ones so I can't confirm the numbers Transformers Land gave it; MISB is still more expensive on Ebay than in TFL but Ebay is full of scalpers and scammers.

RotF DID have a fantastic line, no lie. Even though I've soured on the films I do have a soft spot for some of the '07 designs. It seems like the best of the line came from non-screen-appearing characters like Wreckage.

I take it you like it because it builds on the sensibilities of the AOE which broke with the old one that emphasized complex transformations and alien designs and you weren't all that into it.
HFTD was the last movie line to be unquestionably good. DOTM was just okay.
TLK's toys are just as mediocre as AOE but this time they are putting some effort, there's more than one decepticon unlike the shitshow AOE was, and there's more than one good voyager.

It's shit. More than half the line are repaints or reshells of AOE toys. New molds like Steelbane and Dragostorm come with issues. It's the 2nd time they've used Knight Optimus but he's still a shellformer. Not to mention the prices are jacked up.

There's a few gems like Hound and Megs, but as a line it's pretty crappy.
