Theme Name: Building Bigger Thinking
Sets: 10405 (red brick bucket with 2x4 brick shape), 10404 to 10401 (gradually smaller "set shaped" boxes, not shaped like creator brick boxes).

Release Date: January 2018

Tagline: "Get Ready to Celebrate 60 Years of Creativity and Building Bigger Thinking!"

Also note the 60 years logo looks just like the 50 years logo on the Town Plan anniversary set.

Now my speculation: 10405 red brick bucket is probably a 100+ USD set, 10404 around 60-100 USD, 10401 around 10-20 USD. I'm not sure it will be a legends type remake of old sets, given the theme "building bigger thinking," although that would "celebrate 60 years of creativity." I don't think it will be brick boxes besides the obvious one either. I think it may be something more unique, maybe all the sets will combine in some way?

Is this one of the most detailed knight minifigures?
I hope the next Castle line will live long to have fantsay era elements,new creatures,more factions and more details. I would love some new armor pieces and shield pieces. The Castles should be detailed,I mean look at the Nexo Castle,that one is more detailed than the last ones. I like Nexo but the sets are pretty dissapointing,I hope that the 2018 wave will make me want to buy some.
What would you guys want form,the next Cstle/Space/Pirates theme?
Space and Pirates might come soon. Pirates 30th anniversary is in 2019.

Pic related is probably the most detailed licensed "knight" minifig, frightening knight is certainly a frontrunner.

I would prefer more historical, but the factions allow them some room to have a nice dissonance between minifigure design.
As for set design the vikings line is a good blueprint if they think it's too soon to retread 2009's fantasy castle, if they go the fantasy route with the next castle line I would love it to be myth/legend inspired.

I think an ancient Arabian or ancient Greek theme would be cool, especially if it was based on mythology from the respective places.

LEGO is crazy about vehicles so it wouldn't work. You can only sell so many chariots, brown ships and giant brown horses. They could try giving the theme ancient cosmonauts twist, but Nexo Knights is already doing the old-made-new thing.

Seems like lightsaver hilt attached with LOTR chrome ring piece to a jumper plate, which is in turn attached to that 1x2 brick with studs on the front and back with either the new 1/4 circle tiles or a regular round circle cut down attached to it

But the bricks with studs on the sides can't accept the longer side of a technic pin from the bottom, there's no space for it.

It might just be some unstable connection, maybe the two bricks with studs on the sides (or the 1x2 brick underneath) and the 2x1x2 brick that seems to form the bulk of the blade are connected with short axles? It doesn't really create a firm connection but should be enough for photos.

Does anyone else make BL orders just for cool pieces and not for a build? I've order a bunch of hot pink and medium blue parts because I had a cyberpunk diorama in my head, but I kinda changed my idea. I also love buying "standalone" pieces likr animals, trees, etc. As an AFOL who only got out of my dark times about a year ago, I just realized now how much the lego system caters to my creativity and spatial sense autism. Lego is truly the thinking man's toy

So with the Halloween set and pic related's Thanksgiving set, I'm liking where Lego is going with these holiday themes. Hopefully they do more like these where it's some useful parts and a neat scene.

Yes. Just did an order of €500+ euros that had a shit-ton of rare and wacky parts and colours that were on my wantedlist since forever. Most of them were semi-planned out projects and alternate outfits and stuff, only a bunch of pieces for a vehicle i'm doing and upgrading other mocs.
On top of that you find new stuff every time. I'm absolutely addicted to exotic pieces and printed parts.

Yeah it's kinda tacky. While the amount of amazing prints and minifigure parts are through the roof in the current era, you also get a lot of stuff that looks kinda bland and kitschy (the bad playmobil way). Classic era Lego had less to choose from per year maybe, but prints and designs were always on fucking point and incredibly consistent quality-wise. Designs today feel a lot more "american" than they did up to the millenium. Not necessarily a bad thing, but seeing oddly mismatched baseball caps and those little vests with sashes and jewelry is strange here. (getting burgercar sets like the Model A and 1969 Camaro z28 was a dream come true though)

This won't produce what's shown in >>6537577. Look at the two quarter round tiles, they're set flush with the light grey hilt piece, meaning the top stud of the snot bricks face the hilt. The technic pin solution would be upside down. I suspect the 1x2 plate just below the sword tip is a heretical stud to stud connector.

or the sword has something that puts it together on the backside, and for this there are literally thousand of ways to do it

What are your biggest lego regrets?

I got a UCS Super Star Destroyer for free, and I sold it on craigslist for ~$170 because I didnt have the space for it. Should've just held onto it or cannibalized it for parts instead, I still cant forgive myself for selling it so cheaply.

I like both for different reasons although Castle was definitely better in terms of how individual sets look. Nexo has great villain figs and a lot of solid fodder for mecha mocs and that's more or less it.

The only castle themes within last couple years I disliked were KKII and this shit. Every other one had some gimmick that made it stand out - skeletons/orcs, peasants, most 90s castle themes had something unique about them too - but this doesn't even really try to stand out, t's weird considering how distinct even most of CMF castle/fantasy figures look like.

I think being more cautious with licenses that aren't guaranteed to be a success would be a good move, not many people would be upset if Lego never made Simpsons CMF or Angry Birds. It'd also leave shelf space for one or two more original themes per year - a return to short ones with 5-6 sets meant to only last for a year or two like Pharaoh's Quest or Vikings could work, I guess? It seems like they basically stopped doing these. Also, more than 2-3 huge webstore exclusive sets per year are unnecessary.

Otherwise I don't think there's need for many changes, if the company is meant to stay afloat. I'd like Ideas to favor original builds over poorly put together rooms from 80s tv shows and the like but that's a detail.

Preferences, wanting to to use the exisitng kits to make into a new one.

For example, I'd love to use the malevolence ass a base for building an better malevolence or invisible hand.

And I recently got into the modular building scene, so having a discontinued modular building sold for 1/3 of its original sale price when adjusted for inflation is a pretty good deal.

The biggest appeal for leppin kits to me is the price. Normally because I am rather poor and I have to spend most of my money on tuition and books, it is very hard for me to afford a normal lego set, especially now with how expensive the brand has gotten and the general decline in the quality of sets does not make me want to buy lego. But with Lepin, I could buy 3 replicas of a successful set for the price of 1 crappy set.

Pic Related costs 50 bucks. It was my most recent lego purchase, but I felt mild buyers remorse. Because even though I enjoyed the set, I felt like my money was wasted on a kit that should be sold for 35 to 40 dollars. (And I bought two)

Well this is what I'd do

However, instead of them being normal sized modulars, they'll be smaller/cheaper modulars. There'll still be a "normal" sized/style modular released each year.
Think of the pet store. Just the pet store not the townhouse. Or you can think of the townhouse instead of the pet store. Now take the top floor off of it. That's how big they'd be at their biggest. They'd be smaller, cheaper sets designed to help expand hardcore collectors/city builders cities, while offering kids/smaller collectors a way into modular sets. Think things like single story takeaway food places (Sushi, burgers, coffee, etc.), or a news agents or book store and so on. Maby even have some little parks and stuff.
And speaking of modulars, the list of regular modulars for the next 5 years would be as such; Doctor's Office, Arcade and Apartment, Police Station, Radio Station, Mechanic's Garage.

Work out some way to bring one or the other, or both back.

Smaller scale sets that could be released and sold for a cheaper price, while keeping them interesting. Like a Slave I that's maby slightly bigger then a microfighter and comes with a nano-figure Boba Fett that can fit in the cockpit. Or a Captain America Civil War set based on Ant-Man/Giant Man where you get a regular minifig version of Ant-Man, with a small build-able plane and some nanofigs for the other heroes.
As well as just smaller sets in generally, like as a few others have pointed out, instead of including the Nexo Knights hover horses in bigger sets, release them on their own, there by giving parents cheaper, smaller sets to buy their kids and lowering the prices of the bigger sets, even if it is just by a few cents.

I'd start by cancel the build-able figures. The microfighters would be capped at 2 waves of 2 fighters a year, assuming that they're still selling alright. Battle-packs and UCS' would continue as is. The UCS' for the next 5 years would be (In no particular order); Nebulon-B frigate, Naboo Royal Starship, Super Star Destroyer (With nano-figures for internals play/display), Cloud City and Ebon Hawk.
Yes that's right I said Ebon Hawk. We'd start making sets based on Legends. Just 1 or 2 sets a year. Like the Ebon Hawk UCS, as well as a smaller version (for people who don't want/have the money/space for the UCS), the Outrider, the Moldy Crow, etc.
But the biggest change to the Star Wars line would be how we expand it; 'Star Wars: Creator' and 'Star Wars: City'. Basically they'd be what they sound like, Star Wars versions of Creator and City. They would NOT effect the regular Creator or City sets, instead filling the space left over from the build-able figures, as well as some of the regular set places. Neither of these sets would focus on preexisting characters, instead creating their own generic characters (both human and alien) that encourage kids to create their own story.

Daft Punk Team Pack, Sauron Fun Pack, maby a Lord Vortek pack, and a few others that I can't think of at the moment.
But beyond that, look into the possiblity, or more importantly the viability of getting Disney to allow us to use Star Wars and Marvel Superheroes in the game. If that looks like it could breath some new life into it, while keeping it profitable, then give it another few years. If not, then wrap it up.

Things like 'How to Train Your Dragon' and 'Star Trek', maby even 'Battlestar Galactica'. No going over board with fuckloads of sets, just a couple of sets for a few years and then move on.

But I see your point. The Majority of the kits these days are way over scaled beyond what the actual scale of what the model is. The Original X-Wing and Slave 1 where perfect examples of good scaling. I could hardly fit the current versions of those sets on my desk.

I imagine the sets as being just Lego City, if it was in the Star Wars universe. So little speeders instead of cars, alien and human minifigs instead of just human. Maby a toy shop with the teddy bear or microfig piece done up to look like an soft toy Ewok. And Star Wars styled emergency services, so Cops instead of City/Forrest/Water/Swamp/Mountain/Whatever Cops or maby even one of those fire fighting ships from Ep.III. So maby each wave/series could be a different planet, instead of just a different city location.

The idea I had, which I think I've mentioned on here before, was for it to have a the arcade on the ground floor, with a little hallway and stairs leading up to the first floor (or second for you yanks), which would have another little hallway and stairs (leading to the roof) that connect to a studio apartment that takes up the rest of the floor and would be done up to look like it was a gamers place, so game posters on the walls, a big TV on the wall with a print that looks like either a shooter game or a fighting game (or maby multiple so that you can choose what they're playing) and game consoles.
It would be done in such a way that you could build another first floor and slot it in, so in theory you could have it as many storeys as you want.

As for the games in the arcade, it would use Lego properties for the games, instead of either getting the licenses to real games, or making up fake games just for the set. So like a Lego Racer Daytona-esq racing game, or a Slizer vs RoboRiders 2 player fighting game, a Ninjago Platformer and maby a Alien Conquest shooter. As well as Lego Movie and Bionicle Pinball machines. Maby even some kiddy looking Fabuland game.

Also for those interested in the smaller modular idea, this is kinda what I had in mind.

I worked at LEGO as the Community Manager for the LEGO Universe game. During that time I was given this prototype of a personalized mini-fig in its own capsule. When the studio was shut down, we were basically told to clear our desks and take everything but our laptops. I found this in a box recently and wanted to share. I put the big plastic on his desk and drop the badge on the floor. I see myself out of his office. What a shame. This city needs more officers like me. Not that it matters. I was a week from retirement…

The sets were ugly as fuck, feeling more like they were made out of spare parts with the exception of the new prints and trans-colored helmets, and they were probably the first series that as a whole was only released in the US so in pre-internet times not a lot of people outside of it knew about that theme.

Nothing much. There are some background villains for backstory. There is also a shark submarine which I think isn't a set yet. Idk if we'll get the Narwhalls and Pirahna minifigs.

Not him but aren't the villains just placeholders? One looks like he has a Monster Fighters vampire torso.

The small bots have skeleton legs for sure but that might also be a stand-in for something new, the proportions would be off since the shoulder pieces are massive.

I feel your pain. But it sort of makes sense for this enemies, I guess. It makes LOTS LESS sense for stone monsters. I mean, these ones are virus-barbarians, they must basically raid and leech to survive. But STONE monsters must have a STONE MOUNTAIN to live in. I think the bad guys are some sort of cyborg Insect viruses. Their color scheme is kind of "poisony" and these little white things have the "datalines". Also makes sense with the infection-theme. And they have a similar colorscheme like the hacker villain from UA.

While the first movie was supposed to cater to my nostalgia, i wasn't all that excited about it. Was kinda neat seeing the world in lego and the sets were nice, but the overall story and characters didn't really do it for me. Benny was supposed to make me feel happy but he was semi-annoying.

With the TLBM i knew better what to expect and dial down my expectations. I'm not even into comics. While the story in the first one was somewhat coherent and tried to have drama. This one was complete chaos 100% of the time. Like you really need to have advanced ADD to stomach it. It's fucking stupid and over the top for the most part.
But strangely enough i enjoyed it a lot better than the first one. I'm not really into current era action/adventure movies with their weird tempo and editing, but this one was so overwhelmingly intense and dumb yet with so much love put into it that it did it for me. At any moment you can zoneout and concentrate on one of the 11 other things going on if you get bored with a joke or dialog. Severe Lego autism is mandatory though.

I personally think more than 6 or 7 studs wide is too wide for minifig scale cars. The two brick high windshields make cars pretty tall even if you make them as low as possible. But If i can make the decision between a car that is 6-wide, seats two and is quite tall versus a car that has an accurate beltline and roof but only seats one figure i'll take the former (excluding stuff like special race-cars and stuff) As long as minifigures standing next to it can look over the hood i'm happy.

How did you do the stancing? I've always considered trying it but never did. Do the wheels roll well?

You'd think this guy would be a good guy, and he was when he first showed up on the scene in my adventures, breaking the seemingly unstoppable power of the Dragon Masters with their dragons, magic, and well-armored soldiers with long-reaching halbreds through pure bravery and good old-fashioned swordsmanship and a well-trained group of knights, but he eventually became a very greedy man and taxed the peasants to death. The Forestmen were his biggest annoyance that fought back usually. Also here in Australia we never had 'Dark Forest' either, never knew that existed many years later.

Honestly the sets were kind of average and looked like they were made of surplus Castle parts.

Could the person responsible for the leaked images please produce some 2018 Technic set images? On Brickset for a short while there were two 2018 Technic sets called "Whack!" and "Bash!". They might just be pullback motor sets, but part of me believes they might be Vehicles with striking functions like Cyberslam/Competition.

Dark Forest was a weird theme. It only had three sets, and it was a lot less inviting than the other Castle themes.

It came out right when I was getting into my dark age, but I always imagined that the Dark Forest was some kind of supernatural forest that wouldn't let you leave, and the people in the sets were Forestmen, Wolfpack, and Dragon Knights remnants that banded together for mutual survival, and that all the structures were abandoned buildings from before the Dark Forest became self-aware that they now inhabit.

As much as I'm a spacefag, the setting sun and desert-like background of the old Castle sets really flipped my switch as a kid. It really set the mood for a "dying empire" tone that strongly resonated with me even though I didn't really have any exposure to the concept at the time.
