It's a contingent issue from the design, sure, but I honestly don't think he would work any better with longer arms. In the end, I'd say that is a necessary evil for a proportionate figure.

If you want a robot that looks like MP10 and is the size of MP10 to stand in front of your CHUG collection, why settle for the poor man's version?

Pic related has a passable bot mode like PoTP, has an abomination of a vehicle mode like PoTP, but achieves all this while still managing to be somewhat in scale with the rest of CHUG and also being in the correct colors without huge unpainted slabs of grey everywhere! This shitty, widely-hated deluxe is literally a better CHUG Prime than PoTP Prime.

I actually love the proportions of the robot mode, slim anthropomorphic Prime will always beat a wide shoulders / "superheroey" one for me. Sadly, the vehicle is an absolute mess and the rotating hip has to be one of the worst gimmicks I've ever seen in a modern Transformers figure.

IMHO, Hasbro should unirionically remake that figure in Voyager size with all the issues fixed and the gimmick removed.

I never owned this toy, and always wanted to, but it started to get really expensive, and then MP-10 happened so I moved on with my life, and apart from the forearm kibble, I've always liked the look of it. I really miss the reimagined versions of the characters that the early classics were all about, especially now that both the main retail lines and MP are about strict geewunn accuracy or death.

Honestly, that picture just solidifies my opinion that Classics/Henkei Prime is best CHUG Prime. The slavish geewun of the shrunken MP looks out of place with the modernized designs of CHUG, PoTP will suffer the same issue while being horribly out of scale and not even worth transforming.

I understand the debate between Henkei and MP10/undersized MP10s, PoTP literally has zero things going for it especially considering MP10 exists. The trailer Gattai isn't even good.

Not even joking here, Kiss Players might have been disgraceful but these have to be the most adorable G1 repaints I've ever seen. A pity the complete set costs around 100 bucks in Ebay nowadays, getting an Encore of these for half the price with all the original material included would be so sweet.

what the fuck is the point of having vehicle detailing that isn't actually a part of the vehicle?

Sure, this goes all the way back to powermaster prime/ginrai, but i've still never liked it.

either incorporate the vehicle into the robot mode for real, or just make it like robotic detailing.

Still loving these guys. I kinda wish the Targetmasters could turn their heads, or had ball joint hips, or that maybe the backpack collapsed or folded just a bit more, but considering the low budget they were delivered in, and completely out of thin air, I guess I can't complain too much. Basically all they have on TMs is that their legs can move separately, and given that they're so much bigger, I wish they had maybe given them a bit more. They are better-sculpted, but, that kind of goes with being bigger.

It's still impressive these molds were created brand new and took the place of the regular weapon/titan master vehicle combo in the LG deluxe sets for no extra cost.

My fave Transformer character, I love every Swindle figure I come across, but this guy could use some longer arms, he's built like a football player, but I don't mind much.

Man that rotor suuuccks in robot mode, also one of my rotor blades likes to pop off a lot and I'm worried I'm going to lose it. I like the colors a lot, and I think his robot mode looks good overall, but having to deal with that rotor is just a huge pain

>Brawl
I wish his torso attached to his waist a bit better, he just feels floppy in robot mode, but he's nice and solid in tank and leg mode.

>Blast-Off
Wish I had the Hasbro version desu. I'm a fan of the look, but he's a tad on the floppy side and I always thought a space shuttle didn't fit in the Combaticons. I don't think he looks particularly great as an arm or leg, and as an arm his forearm likes to come undone.

Really like the colors and for my first Takara figure I've got no big complaints. I feel that Takara took the cake as far as their UW selection goes in comparison to Hasbro, but I'm not a huge fan of their TR stuff especially since even when a character is marginally better the Hasbro version is cheaper and more convenient for me personally.

I'd trade a nut for G1 Dinobots. But I know how unlikely that is due to all the molds having to be remade.

Other than that the only reissue I'd really beg for is a fixed MP09, but that's a seperate line from Encore.

I'd like Wheeljack and Mirage. I'd buy doubles and I'd even buy red Mirage. I'd also buy Sideswipe and Hound in Encore boxes even though I have the TF Collection versions. The Encore boxes looked so classy.

The only molds they had to restore for Encore were the Constructicons and the face for Jazz. Everything else was available from TF Collection years back (Soundwave and Hound were restored).

But that truck cab is fucking inexcusable, lower price point or not. Thanks to that, it'll always be miles behind MP-10. Unless some turd party manages to fix it, anyways. But then, the upgrade kit would probably cost $50+ and negate the price tag as a selling point.

I still wish it was more a toy redeco rather than a ALTERNATIVE show redeco, they could have easily just thrown on some toy decal markings ala artfire and it would have made it more of a reason to buy 2 of the exact same figures for more than the original (hay, I bought the mp primal redeco because of how drastic the paint jobs were).

I suspect its a stopgap to gather funds, I suspect after this will be mp dinobot, with a mp megatron2.0 redeco somewhere around the corner, who else afterwards who can say

The peg for offshoot would need modification anyway as its not actually compatible, as I read later on the pegs intended for mp09 are thicker

Websites (especially the tf wiki) keep saying the engine block port itself was modified, what we should do is check the takara tomy mall listing and see if we find anything or even the dengeki hobby website, sadly my japanese is zilch so it'll take some time to locate and even more to make sense of it

Actually I spouted out that assumption multiple times as soon as I seen the pictures to signal boost it until people assumed the same.

And its not better, when I spouted that I kept saying they retooled the ears to be more blunted.

Its a good head, but its not better, but its a respectable attempt.

I'll say my thoughts, big difference between the 2, if you love prime and want prime "as he was in the show" its mp10, if you want gimmicks you get mp01, if you want "good enough to play with and not worry about damaging him without significant loss" you wait for the takara redeco of the POTP optimus, that orion pax gimmick is pretty sweet but it made sacrifices to do so (incomplete truck cab and trailer looks etc).

And no, don't get the hasbro version, only poor fags do that.

I was about to suggest for the sake of keeping cost down while getting something nice was to get the mpp10 upscaled prime but I could reccomend the incoming mp10b which omits the trailer.

He may not be quite prime but he's the same rock solid figure, he may be lacking in articulation and expressiveness like mp36 but he would blend in with top of the end chogokins.

I hope we don't see a new mp prime any time soon, the mold has aged well and seems like a waste to not just go anime+ redeco at this point

Most of them work well.
The single missile, triple missile rack and the rocket pod are from the same guy and they are the best. Fit nicely in any 5 mm holes.

Both main guns looks great and play great.

The rocket pod on Broadside's left hand is ok, but it is rather loose on a 5 mm hole. Not to mention there is a slight extension on the peg for 4 mm hole so unless it is a deep peg hole or a hand hole, it will have a hard time staying in place.
The same looseness goes to Brawl's gun used on CW Brawl. The gun was designed for FOC Brawl but it does work here. The other choice on site was just too big.

If you are going to get the Slipstream heels, get the black one. Even though the original heel is purple, but Shapeway's color selection does not cut it. Get the black to fit with her front feet.

Going to wait until LG overlord to try the Overlords gun and digging out FOC Starscream during the weekend for the crown.

I suspect takara will put them all in a box set, I doubt the figures will change much, but omitting the stickers and using (maybe) some gold paint would help, or least a shade that's a bit brighter

I mean, yeah, as far as official options go, the Dinobots got the shaft. These new ones are a shamble of cheap gray plastic, missing accessories and trashy modes to accommodate a combining gimmick nobody asked for, and even as far as MPs, the only one they made was Grimlock, and that mold is old and tired as fuck. For such popular characters, they sure have been left out in the rain.

The only good options for any self-respecting collector are 3P, and those usually seem to go for stupid money, so even then it's tough to say its worth it.

On one hand I reckon they got the benefit of cw 2.0, they all look the part with the only detriment really being they're kids toys with a gimmick build in, but even taking out the peg how much of the cavity can you fill with detail?

I honestly reckon however grimlock and swoop suffer the most, with grimlock's bot mode having off proportions and swoop's reliance on fold up leg transformation.

On the other hand how long has it been since we had a new g1 based dinobot team, we only had the classics grimlock, so stockholmsyndrome has set in.

Give takara time, they WANT to do dinobots in the mp line (and combiners)

You realize this isn't a complaint about detail, or about a peg, right? A hell of a lot more of the toy has to be sacrificed in order to make sure a bot can also turn into a torso/arm/leg. With TR, Hasbro has proven it can churn out some really impressive transformations at a retail price level (see Kup, Topspin, Triggerhappy), so I imagine if they had put their minds to just making a dedicated team of Dinobots with no stupid gimmick, they could have nailed it out of the park, but for some reason they still seem intent giving us sub-par robots that combine into a sub-par gestalt.
