I wonder how well CCBS Elves figures would sell. They'd be perfect doll size and have cloth accessories. There hasn't been a constraction line marketed to girls yet, so they probably have no data on how well it would do.

I kind of like the look of these guys personally.
I don't know how to feel about them being overtly sci-fi though. On the one hand I think it looks cool but on the other hand it means I can't mix them with my usual fantasy stuff like I could with the other monsters.

If they still have them, the light house and RV sets are awesome
The light house has a really fun orca and and is super comfy. All of the RV builds are really fun (cool house, awesome yacht and the pretty fucking huge RV), and the mini boat and car builds are awesome. I think the little car is one of my favorite cars I have, especially when I modified it with a proper windshield and more space

I built a small Lego set for the first time in over 15 years today (it was a Halloween bat and pumpkin). It was really fun and satisfying. I want more but I can't justify spending a lot of money on legos. Fuck.

You're lucky to still have yours. I had an impressive 90s collection as a kid but then my dad got weird and stopped working for years and we lost our house and all my childhood lego toys got put into storage and he never paid the storage fees so it was sold off. I imagine one of those cocksuckers in Storage Wars has my complete 6090 and 6982 among others.

Depends.
If you have loads of lego and can't be bothered to organise it, you can sell it en masse. It's quicker and easier than selling pieces individually, but you'll get less money.
Minifigs sell like hotcakes (don't sell them in a bundle ever). I don't know much about selling MoCs but I don't think it's that profitable even if you're really good.
As far as I know, buying sets cheaply and selling them is mostly a long-term game, where you buy up loads of modulars and other sets likely to hike in price then wait a few years.

Do you own a phone with a camera? How about a decent voice and average video editing skills? Then you're in luck! I am here to tell you that you can make 5 to 10 minute videos about opening boxes and building Lego! After you put them up on YouTube you'll be rolling in quarters! Then you sell the parts on bricklink and break even.

Minifigs are probably the best for a person with less money and space to work with. You can buy a super hero or other liceneced set with an exclusive figure and then sell each figure individually and then sell the parts. You can easily make double what the set is worth. (Also sell on eBay, it's only dumb ass scampers, so you can undercut their inflated prices and still sell for way above what it's actually worth).
Modulars are also a good bet if you have a lot of cash, a place to store them and patience. There's a couple that should be retiring soon so you could make a good amount by sitting on them for a year. But that's a big amount of money upfront with a delayed pay off. Honestly, just drive uber or something if you need cash as a student, selling lego is more of a waiting game than anything and you'll spend more time sorting, shipping etc than another job would pay for the same price.

I liked the Mercedes Arocs in that regard. The 'bucket' or whatever you want to call it was pretty boring and the cabine was just your regular lego technic stuff, but I enjoyed the hell out of the rest of it.

I think the stud and cone piece of the blaster are pearl light gray, but the rest is regular bley.

These curved pieces and the plate with rail thing on the helmet already exist in silver, so it's not entirely impossible the whole thing is silver, but at the same time the cone and round plate in the gun seem to be in a different color than the rest

That's a big negatory, good buddy. It's slightly larger than a pin, and is too big to fit the new raygun pinhole (which is itself too large for a pin to connect to)

More spooky ghost sets and sci-fi military, just in time for Halloween.

The flama and Ninjago ghost tail piece would come in blue with trans medium blue and a trans medium blue head.
Soldiers would be the elite ghost Z armour whatevers to keep it nice and sci-fi and not too regular guns since Lego is allergic to military.
Sets include: Bike and humvee chase with black guy. Soul separation module with little girl ghost, raimi (human form) and Volks.
Giant brickbuilt demon guy with portal and portal lazer, Raimi (ghost form), That one general and a doggy.
Helicopter set with anti-air rockets and ghost containment cells. Includes anonymous mook ghosts.
Other smaller sets include a cheff with two or three different military guys. a Bunch of plates as flickfire discs, and a printed 1 x 1 round brick with "not poison" or laxative printed on it. Maybe a set with a small tree.
All sets have atleast one or two props sprinkled throughout like garbagecans and mops to possess and plants to eat (because apparently ghosts are vegetarian).

Disgaia. Well, I suppose sets based on the game could be neat, it's a grid based, turn based, unit combat game. The characters are a mix of humans, humanoid monsters, non-humanoid monsters, angels, demons, and a few other things. They could do quite a lot with it, and there'd be no worry of being flooded by the "hero" figures, since the game's non-unique characters share the same sprites for the hero and villain versions.

I am really attached to my Lego dudes and grills so i can understand what you mean by that.

Fantasy is very important to me, a creative outlet too, i really care about these things and put my heart and soul in it. But from what i've heard living too much in fantasy compared to IRL can get you a bit derailed. Outing and expressing your urges through a creative outlet, dreaming and putting love into things is a wonderful thing that fills you in a way other contact with the outside world can't always provide. But that is also true vice-versa.
Lego or any other spice that is important to you can't always provide for everything, other things you need or crave are provided for things outside of Lego.
I am absolutely not telling you to stop Lego, but i'd suggest trying to find what's causing you to feel this way. I'm a sperg (as most people here probably are in some way) and find trouble connecting with people, sometimes even dread doing it or become frustrated. But i do crave serious human contact. This even expresses itself in my Lego stuff, i built a perfect (perfectly imperfect) world with characters as wonderful and human as i can. Characters that I cherish and make me happy.

This might be projection, but since you talk about a rather specific creative hobby i share and apparently also have strong feelings about it, I suspect this might ring true to you.
Having such investment and passion for creating that world, fantasy or dream is a blessing but can also be a curse.
If you can very vividly envision and shape ideal situations in your head, and spend a lot of time doing this, this might push you further away from the world outside of that dream. You could spend so much time living in your own world that you start feeling alienated from the one around you.

Also it's a good idea to order several of a minifig you want, sometimes the quality can be spotty as fuck; for example I got half a dozen Cobra Commanders and the printing on two or three was misaligned just enough to be annoying. with multiple copies you can mix and match parts to get a good one.

When you routinely retreat into that dream or hypothetical chain of events you enjoy and are good at perfecting, this could become become improportional to the experiences that you engage in IRL.
This could create such high expectations or standards so to speak that, that you worked on and built up over time so intensily, that IRL experiences have trouble living up to it. You might already have some problems with those situations, and the context you yourself made make those even stranger and harder for yourself.

When i was in a dark time, i was hopelessly looking for those sublime moments to pull me out that did not happen. You know what happened? I watched a Jackie Chan movie with my mother and laughed my ass off. Was it the sublime moment i had imagined, no. Did it work, definately.

The reasons behind all this, and how to maybe work on your problems i might not help you with finding out. But luckily the things you desire and appreciate almost always shine through in the works, fantasies and dreams you make. Lego or otherwise.
Maybe if you can find some of them, working towards those desires in a practical way at your own pace, might become easier. Also don't be afraid to speak out your problems to someone you trust. Be it friends, family or a professional. Speaking out what you really want or fear can be hard and frightening, but often it helps to do so.

PS:
Biker suits almost done, but ran out of bikes. B-ball outfits getting there but not finished yet. More 80's alien leotards done. Alien family only needs clothes. The van has progressed, a drifty car planned. Several designer chairs done, medieval troupe coming, some diving adventure planned. Wallet on suicidewatch.

Just finished this bad boy. Not really a massive star wars fan, or even liscenceshit in general, but Slave I is my favorite SW ship. The last UCS i got was the UCS AT-ST, back when it came out. Its still on my shelf to this day, mostly intact. Otherwise I don't really own much SW, save for some really old clone wars stuff and the newest Y-Wing which was given to me.

Also, has anybody out there modded this? I'd love for the seat to automatically rotate with the side fins, and flesh out more of the interior.

The front is kind of odd, the parts don't align quite right. So the whole assembly angles slightly down and the 1x1 cylinder doesn't fully attach to the black travis brick, but put together it's solid enough.

happened the same to me, not a big SW, but this one is a very good set

I gave it a full interior and modified the cockpit so it's locked down on flying position, and can hold at least two people, but i didn't take any pictures since my phone battery died about later after i got it, and i used almost all of the pieces to build a tank which i haven't finished yet

mainly just use a plate to give it a nice floor, you might have to do more stuff the lower you want to place it. to achieve this you might have to remove a couple of the slopes nearby the place carbonite han solo is), and add something to have them climb to the cockpit for more realism

I also added a co-pilot seat for kid Boba, and slightly adjusted the pilot seat to include flight sticks.

For the wings, I added a mechanism that allows the wings to lock into place in the upright and landed positions. I didn't like how when the ship was displayed upright, the wings fall with gravity, so that problem gets solved with these.

Regarding the interior, while there is a little bit of room to work with, it is a very tight squeeze, with very little room to work with before teh space gets cramped. Then on top of that I could imagine the carbonite solo brick would make it even more cramped.

Lastly, I've used the small compartment at the top of the canopy as a store room for Jango's helmet/hair and jet pack when not in use.

However, I built the command shuttle last night and in doing so, realised I won't be able to combine them, with out so much reworking of shuttle that I'd essintially just be scrapping it and starting from scratch.

You see one of the features I'd planned was to be able to rotate the panels. The idea was that when it was landed the panels would be up, like they are in a standard TIE fighter and there'd be landing/manouvering engins at the bottom of either side panel. Then when it takes off, the panels would rotate so that those engins were facing the back of the ship, as if to give it a little extra thrust.

The plan was that the two panels would be connected with an axle bar, that would run through the middle of the body of the ship and would be connected to a lever or something underneith the ship that could be pushed down to make them rotate, with the lever looking like a part of the landing gear.

Now I could just scrap the shuttle and use it's parts to start building my TIE shuttle. However after building it, I've kinda developed a liking for it. Kind of.
I didn't like it in the movie and I'm not a fan of the set as a whole, but the main body is pretty decent as far as I'm concerned. So instead of scrapping it I'm thinking about just taking off the wings and replacing them with something else to built a whole new ship

I got this as a gift and im very happy with it. Slave I is also my fav star wars ship, and it's a great rendition of it. My only mods were some rubber bands to keep the side panels from flapping and the nose from drooping. As for the seat, i dont think its actually meant to rotate at all in canon

Yeah, between a lot of pretty cool brick-built marine creatures and the largely brickbuilt NK bigfigs I'm entirely sure it would look good even taking into account they couldn't make it too elaborate, especially taking mixel joints and a lot of other new small pieces into account.

SNOT is useful, if you stop thinking of walls as stacks of bricks and more just agglomerations of pieces it opens up a lot more textures and shapes. When im making a bricklink order i often check to see if the seller has cheap stuff in huge quantities because anything starts to look structural once you stack 40 of them on top of each other. It is tough to make interesting buildings in the modular style, tho, since they need to have 2 "blank" sides to be truly modular.

It works well for single rooms of any size, and the cutaway wall bits make it easy to photograph, but having multiple rooms assembled and connected simultaneously is impossible. Ultimately, it wouldn't be usable for a party-based dungeon crawler, but it might be good for a roguelike.

I hightly recommend listening to this guy (>>6576472), cuz I went through learning all this stuff by myself while working on picrelated (wich is still unfinished inside) and second modular I'm working on. Also, if you happen to see some creator building on sale, suggest you to buy 3+ of the same set. This will give you a good start with lots of parts in same color scheme, and you can just build a bigger version of the set, if fully custom thing is not coming together very well.

And for futuristic stuff try hoses, and tubes, and bars, and grills, etc. Older printed parts works good for some compuers and consoles. But honestly, I'm aming for something-something cyberpunk/sci-fi stuff myself, but hasn't achieved much yet.

A shitton of snot plates and 1x2 plaest and 1x2 tiles it is. Not really sturdy, but just came from initial lacking enough of 1xN bricks in same color for simple upright build. Helped to make a pattern for inner walls though, if you can see it on upper picture.

Personally, I would just buy a large grey sheet of paper or plastic from a craft store and set it down on your table there. Maybe different colors for different floors.

it had an amazing story to tell, sadly, most was done wrong, but some scenes are just epic, and considering the bigger picture and overall story, leaving out the stupid parts, those movies were good, and the parts that can actually become lego are just wonderful
