Sure, if you don't mind a handgun that looks like it's twice the size of a submachine gun. I still enjoy him for the bizarre engineering alone but I can never get over how oversized the pistol is.

Lame ass jokes aside how do we feel about TTmall exclusives?

They're collectors grade figures...made from retail toys that are a lower grade overall to their mp line.

Personally I like their LG-EX items, hell I don't mind the prices, its just the way they're handled that makes me think why can't you offer stuff like greatshot in retail (or least, japanese retail) and keep only bizzare redeco's as ttmall exclusives.

I never handled a real gun and where I am and with our laws I'm lucky to even hold a megatron toy at all, so I'm surprised.

I do admit I like them big, the overall shape and aesthetics (of gun mode) are all I look at, for me I just can't get over the fact mine can't hold his fusion cannon up without causing overbalance, even my lg god ginrai holds himself up better and he's a rag doll that's to his shitty ankles, unlike mister ball jointed feet with shitty ratchets that not only fail to hold the gun up but when they do work *crash*

Its gotta come, the detailing in his lower legs suggest they have considerations about that, we had a toy/anime redeco of mp primal so toy accurate megatron should naturally get consideration.

Just take out the additional faceplates aside from the angry one, throw out the other show relevant stuff, add in updated versions of the g1 toy's sword and gun and he'd do well, question would be would takara go full retard and make him all chrome (as in like the lucky draw mp36) as a retail figure and mark him up absurdly high or just use a flat silver chrome?

Either way I would never transform him, did so to my mp36, never a-fucking-gain

They made a large sized OC megatron that matches their mpp10, upperhalf looks close to mp36 but down below is all brand new, we also have multiple bootlegs of reg mp36 size, one without chest logo's and one that's an outright copy, I think weijang's take is the better option as it doesn't look like a scratch magnet like mp36 was

Took some pictures of an original release Fire Convoy, RiD Optimus for us Americans. He holds up pretty well. Kinda loose in spots and dusty as fuck. The worse part of him to age is the chrome chest of tiny bot mode.

Eh, I want them to keep the faceplates, though I know they'd probably not include them.

As for the deco, there's no way Takara is dumb enough to have an all-chrome regular release of MP paint-shredder. Plus, the people unhappy with MP36's deco seem pretty vocal about wanting silver/steel colors in specific, so they know what to make

I'm extremely tempted by encore Fire Convoy+God Magnus but that retarded asking price is dissuading me each and every single time I consider putting down a preorder anywhere.

"optimus prime leader" doesn't help and "optimus prime fire truck version" shows a few, but they're more expensive than current leaders.

The C+ customers kit for Defensor is complete and total overkill, but it had a single part that almost makes me want to buy an entire kit just to have it.

It includes basically an entire new torso for Hot Spot, which on top of adding a waist rotation, also lets you widen the hips out, which seems like it would be super useful to have for fan modes.

I wish I could buy this single part of the kit seperately, and in Onslaught colors too

The grey and maroon makes the figure look much denser and brings out the greeble far better than the plain white of the CW, hence why the Henkei version actually didn't look as good that time around. I don't mind light color shifts if they drastically improve the overall aesthetics of the figure while still making it feel like a modernized version of the character being represented.

I had my prime and magnus stuffed in a box for years. Took them both out the other day and surprisingly their tires have still held up. Only thing I noticed is the white plastic on magnus turned yellow.

Which is why takara has taken precautions, unless 2000 orders are made they'll scrap him, 3000 just "completes" him hence the pretended shell they give with it.

The price is only high because its coming from the ttmall, no retailer discounts and shipping is another factor.

And then we get re-sellers, if robot kingdom and nippon yassan start to dig in they could potentially reach that number with ease, but they're the real risk

Are their MP coneheads worth getting? On one hand I really like the realistic direction they went with MP03 by going for that tight-ass jet design and dat Gundam-ish look (even if the overall figure is admittedly flawed in many regards) but on the other hand these robots look so chubby with the giant knee pads and the vehicle mode appears to be lacking all the intricate detail that made the original mold worth getting in the first place. They're only limited to 2000 pieces each, so it worries me that, if I skip on them now, I might never get the chance to find them again in the future.

Every version of the MP seeker mold is at best completely awful and not worth owning. The Coneheads especially are awful due to widespread misassembly issues.

Don't buy one just because they're rare unless you're doing it to keep it MISB to sell to idiots in the future, just hang onto your money until they're done properly.

Can always check on mandarake, they pop up from time to time (second hand of course, the less you pay the more "used" it is but japanese are autistic so the cheapest one might have a slight scuff or the box might be cornered).

Lucky for you I own all 3 and I have the following comments

Same as base mp11 seeker mold, joints are little looser than the initial run but still workable, same gimmicks as base mp11 intact (although they can't wear the crown they can wear everything else and even the flight stand intended for mp03), qc however is a problem with the first of the 3 being "wtf is this" to the last being "as expected", also light on accessories with just the hologram pilot.

Most common issue was miss-assembled shoulders which prevented the arms from tabbing properly into jet mode, some copies have been corrected so you may notice "double tape" on the top of the box, of course this does NOT guarantee the specimen to be flawless, for example mine is missing his right shoulder cover so I can see the ratchet inside the arm, another lesser issue is (like the current deluxe tr/lg kup/tribute orion pax) a small panel in the wings being installed incorrectly meaning the panels don't quite line up in terms of detail, correcting it requires some major surgery but if you perform it not only does quench any autism but it stops a *crack* sound when the wings are folded during transformation.

My ramjet has a chip on his nose.

mpm04 on the other hand is tedious, not so much hard (was able to avoid looking at the manual unlike mp36) but the god damn tabs either can't move to where they're supposed to or refuse to stay tabbed in.

MPM4's transformation makes sense and isn't too bad in general, he's just a cunt to get everything actually in place. Like you can tell where everything goes and what everything is supposed to do, you just have to do it.

Thank god my Takara version got good QC. All I had to do to modification wise to get everything tabbed up perfectly was cut a tiny bit off his chest-hood tabs so they'd actually fit into the diecast tummy. Truck mode is a bit of a finnicky bitch and won't let me tab the diecast ab plate into place without making the hood come un-fucked, but having a VERY slightly bent truck bed to get a nice hood isn't a problem.

I got a takara as well and the qc is crap, he's got fractures along his windscreens (as in where the flame tampo meets the clear bit) and I'm not sure if that was in factory or during transformation since they have no flex to them.

I can make him look passable when transformed but his truck will never be perfect and robot could have been much better qc wise, least his deco is better than the hasbro one...

I bought the Hasbro versions of just about everything else in the line.

But for me, the headsculpts on Takara Hardhead and Skullcruncher appealed to me more, as did Blurr and Scourge's deco and I'm much happier with them.

Somewhere in between for me (so the middle Gundam, though on a side note all 3 of those models look lovely). I liked the Hasui approach of blending the cartoon model with more modern sensibilities and making the best possible version of the character, rather than a 1:1 replica of the cartoon model. My only MP is G2 Sideswipe but I love him, he strikes the balance of classic stylings with modern flair perfectly.

Grapple is pretty great, but all the retooling removes some of the grace from the transformation. The hydraulic boom is nowhere near as seamless and satisfying to transform as the ladder, and that plus the way they changed some of the panels on his thighs really hinder articulation a bit.

I bought Grapple and then Artfire, and I was impressed by how much better the transformation felt on the latter.

I feel like I'm a rare minority that would prefer either extreme over a compromise. I feel like some MPs like Hot Rod, Wheeljack, and Bumblebee suffered from trying to combine their toy and cartoon designs. It mostly comes down to how they split the difference between accurate car and accurate robot, and that leads to things like Sideswipe's box chest. Prime and the Datsuns pulled it off, but not much else before the total style change.

Mostly though, it's how there's one MP line that has a massive aesthetic shift mid releases. The proportions alone make most post-Laserwave MPs out of place with the first line reboot figures. Just give us MP Anime and MP Figure lines. There's already and MPM subline, so why not do the same with the more iconic looks?

I think the only reason why the mpm line is still separate is because takara had other mp series isolated (brave, zoids) and decided just to bring that back, otherwise beast wars *could* be its own line.

My other theory is the separate lines are because each one focuses on a universe not an aesthetic, and beast wars is just the future of g1 afterall.

Maybe main line but not for mp's, the shins on both are show accurate for better and for worse.

The seekers are straight up redeco's and the show never tried to make them different, meanwhile idw uses differing timelines and universe designs to make them different

That's me. I'm shameless about it because he went from being a literal nobody to my favorite MP and one of my favorite toys of all time, period. Alt mode is great, transformation is endlessly fun, superb articulation, fantastic paint job, and I really love the kitschy sticker tampographs. The Targetmaster is just icing on the cake. I especially love all the different places/ways you can mount it.

I wish he maybe had some of the other firefighting accessories that came with Inferno, or that his shin panels had the sculpted detail that the original toy had, but they're small complaints overall.

Artfire really changed the way I think about collecting. I'm far more patient, and I tend to wait to see all the repaints and retools of a mold before settling on which to buy. I've convinced myself I don't need to own all the major characters.

Like I've been dying for an MP Jazz, but if Takara ever finally managed to turn one out, I would probably pass and wait for Ricochet, because goddamn them colors.

So, is it just me or this line looks doomed to flop, much like the original SWxTF crossovers? I mean, that's not exactly a poorly designed robot in any way, but god, the proportions don't look anything like Darth Vader, I really wouldn't imagine the stoic Sith master as a wide fatso with a giant spherical chest and wings hanging off of his shoulders. The proportions of MP Megatron are unironically more Darth-Vader-ish than this, they should have considered attributing less visual weight to the top of the figure and used the wings as a cape instead of just having them hanging in there like useless shellformer bits.

I'm just glad the DInobot combiner turned out to be the one with a crap combined mode, because at least they'll still be good Dinobots. I'm a little annoyed at Hungrr being a Silverbolt retool but it's the best torso in the line, and it looks decent.

No I have all that comes with TR Quake but who's mold he's based on in G1 Hardhead. G1 Hardhead came with 2 guns and a canon. TR Quake only has 1 gun and canon so I had to fix that. Sorry it's my OCD making me do such things.

I don't want to give them money, though I haven't stopped to think how many hands it must go through until it's not contributing to it, but if I were to I'd go for the repaints. I can't understand wanting something that looks exactly the way it looked in a cartoon, no matter how good it looked, but neither I can understand wanting greebles on every surface.

To me anything is fine as long as the most essential parts of the character design are preserved and it's easy and fun to handle, and that goes for everything I buy.

I never liked the mishmash design of the first couple Megatrons, but the RotF fuel-truck one is pretty great, only problem is he's a bit shorter than the Prime you have I think. Someone might have done an upscale of that mold though so it's worth looking into if you like it.

That's from DotM, and yeah, I have the Voyager and it's pretty nice but it's also obviously not made to be compatible with Prime.

Don't most smartphones have forced auto focus anyways? Mine can't even do it manual, which is a disaster. I've unironically considered buying a lens attacher for that effect.

Phones that have that either come with a macro mode that tries to focus on nearer objects and/or that selective focus thing where you can tap on the subject to focus on it. My own phone's selective focus isn't very precise on small objects but it is convenient enough for internet pictures.

Pistols certainly can and do have stocks and extended barrels (and suppressors). They’re mostly for sporting events or larger calibers. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to apply that stuff to a p38, though, as I think the largest caliber it came in was 9mm.
