TMNT Anon here again. Armed the technodrome a bit. was a main the ass to figure out some sorta of semblence to the weird lazer canons all over it. Still got some exterior work like the rails to finish untill I start on the base wheels/tracks

Picked up a Fun at the Beach today. Really happy that I waited and didn't buy it last week like I was planning on, because it was on sale for $30. Since I had some extra cash I was planning on using for that, I grabbed a zoomy polybag because I'm out of grilles and air scoops and there's a trike body in my last cracklink order.

This set is pretty great and not just for the minifigs. Light bley boombox that was only in the GB Firehouse set before this, new parrot that's only been in this set so far, a lobster, a dalmatian, a Dolphin with non-Friends printing (same as the one in the upcoming TLBM CMF wave), and they gave me two sailboard sails, which is awesome because I already had a sailboard and pole but no sail, so now my wetsuit minifigs can have tandem fun.

None of those are great deals. Fun at the beach, but it's the same price on Amazon, so what's even the point, unless you have a Target card for 5% off? Otherwise, the road plates if you're that kind of guy, and otherwise, nah.

The one I'm talking about (Minneapolis) seems to be really active. There have been several posts from different people on their site in the past day and they're meeting on Sunday. Apparently there's some event they're putting on.

So I recently bought Kylo Rens Tie fighter and after building it I remember the first Lego tie fighter I ever got, which was Darth Vaders. I went to my parents place and it was still there on the shelf. at the very top of it. forgotten for maybe 15 years and covered in nothing but dust. it was almost complete except for some missing parts of the left wing. but the best part was that Darth Vader himself was hiding all the year in his cockpit. No single scratch.

I will remove the dust, find the missing parts and place it next to kylo rens one.

Kinda this.
Although i have to admit the style of printed eyes bunny and french bulldog and standing cat felt right again to me. The simple black dots for eyes blend in with the older dragons, dogs and crocodiles alright.

Not a fan of the newer aligators though. The shaping just doesn't look lego enough for me. The printed german shepards are weird to me because they have that Playmobil feel to them.

haha, had the exact same thing.

I checked out the site of one in my country, but the forum wasn't really my bag. I was mostly interested in the get-togethers they held. The technic competition where you build shit for irl challenges looked fun, even though i can't into technic.

My nearest LUG is in the next city over, but it's totally worth going. The builders there are great and the community is always willing to help out with builds, trades, etc. The set drafts are another plus, as well as the free, discount, and bulk Lego. I'd recommend joining a LUG for anyone able.

Ah man you beat me to it. Gave that exact outfit to one of my figures, but wasn't happy enough about the fishingboat i made. She has the gray really long hair, so it looks like a bandaeu much like a recent Brigitte Bardot set.
It looks really good on her, the fifties polkadots are also very fitting! The Lego designers knew EXACTLY what they were doing.

The Ninjago Movie may have blown it pretty bad but some of the sets aren't bad. Good reaction image faces from some of the townsfolk, plus some meme worthy animal heads. Still I've got to appreciate the "shark army" nuts. Their tactical gear outfits have proven pretty useful on their own. Finally time to make Lego Stud Team Six.

Looks really good! The bike coweling is instantly recogniscable.

I meant more specifically the circles of the barrels in the front. Because of the 3/4th perspective they foreshorten more into ellipses. It's more apparent in the "belt" thing around the smaller and bigger lower tube.

When coming out of my dark ages I found myself disliking that figs now had detailed expressions. It can be seen as imposing a personality on a fig and limits you to what they are expressing. Sure the ones I grew up with had a smile but they could still be anything you wanted. It didn't even imply gender. Like >>6624864 that fig could be the manliest motherfucker or a super hot biker chick. It's all up to you.

And these days? I think I was an idiot and have thoroughly embraced the new. Oh sure some of the points still apply, though people like Lego Quest deal with it via a collection of similar enough heads that the changing expressions work marvelously. They're still basic enough that there is still a fair amount of interchangeability. I suspect skin tone will be something else I'll get over eventually even though, yeah, it does exacerbate the problem with interchangeable heads. If you've got a Mace Windu fig good luck finding enough brown plastic heads with proper expressions.

I agree with you there, especially on the last bit. I always find new expressive minifig heads whenever I do a bricklink order and can't stop myself from picking up a couple. While they "detract" from the experience of letting a character be anyone and anything, they also add so much character to a scene.

I still prefer yellow, myself, just because there is far more variety and thus potential interchangeability. Of course the CMF lines are mostly what are upping that game. So much fun stuff to pick apart and put together in new and exciting ways. I'm kind of sorry they ever decided to make fleshies since the yellow was always meant like a smiley face. Alright, sort of weird question but I trust this place the most.

I haven't collected legos since around 2012, I lost interest in the themes and sort of just bought less and less, but recently I have looked into buying a specific kind of set. My favorite theme is the multiple classic space themes that started in the 70's and lasted until about the early 2000's. With that I sort of want a few sets from that era but not really sure how to go about this. Obviously buying new is not an option as it would cost an arm and leg even for small sets but I would love some used smaller ships, sets like pic related that are smaller.

My questions are this, where should I look into buying these and do you guys have any suggestions for cool ships that won't burn a hole in my wallet? I know of bricklink but I have never used them myself and have only heard of people buying pieces from there, not sets.

IIRC they were blue in one of the original movies. More like a bluish tinged gray, but Lego didn't have any light blue colors at the time so they just used the standard.

Brickset might be worth a try; you can go by theme and by year, so it's easy to get a look at all classic space sets. Pick out what you like, then check prices on bricklink or ebay or whatever.

Damn... last time i saw this set was 2000. When i went to the big city with my mom. After she did some job she needed to, i asked to go for a walk and see what kind of stores we can see.
One of them was a bigass toy store. And this set instantly grabbed my attention - it was from my favorite 1999 movie Star Wars!
And it had my favorite character - Jar Jar binks and second favorite - Jinn and awesome droids!

but...but my mom assured me that she dont have money for that. And that im not a little kid anymore. So i kinda felt embarassed and agreed that my kids days are over so no more lego for me.

Holy wow...all these years i thought this set is some kind of super exciting scene with a bunch of droids and cool swamp-build!
Its just a small set... we must have been so poor.
PS:
Funny that these days i hate Star Wars because during early-mid 00s i was fucking full of Episode 1 and Jar Jar binks hate so i stay away from any SW-stuff these days.
(i do have gungan minifigs and action figures tho - love their design)

offtopic - picrelated is a cool and bugass Captain Tarpals and kaadu - one of my first toys i bought after coming out of my dark ages

Count the pieces that go into the normal set. If you've added/replaced enough pieces to account for 33% or less of the build, it's modified, 33%-50% is a grey area, maybe we can call that range inspired build? 51% or more should be considered a MOC.

The local Walmart of all places had a bunch of Hagrid's Huts years after the line was off the shelves. Damn things were 20 bucks each, I bought three. I guess it's not bad to have the three main Potter kids and also Hagrid's weird giant-size dildo, but at the least the huts will be nice for castle scenes.

That’s a cool find, I was a total Potter geek in the elementary school, so I had some of the earlier stuff back when the minifigs came in yellow. The Hagrid minifig back then didn’t have movable hands as it seems in your set.
It’s not that common to find reasonably priced legos in thrift stores here either. Although earlier this week I found a 2002 Bohrok with two small Bohrok-Va sets cheap, all with boxes and instructions.

The Rahis from 2001 are probably my personal Holy Grail in Lego collecting, those things looked fucking savage. My friends had Nui-Rama and Nui-Jaga types, but Tarakava was the one that intrigued me the most. To this day I’d love to see how that punching mechanism works. Eh, I usually don't put the sets together unless I want to see how they did a cool build technique, but the longest I've ever left a set together since exiting my dark age is a year, and that was the only set that I ever left completed after a week. For basic shit like the Nexo roller I just file away the instruction manual and part out the set.

I got back into Lego so recently that I’m still unfamiliar with Bricklink. It’s basically the same idea as eBay or something, right? You can just pay for stuff in your basket using PayPal, and the seller receives your payment and ships the items?

Pretty much. Every seller is an independent retailer, so don't make the rookie mistake of thinking you can order some parts from one store, some other parts from a different store, and pay for them all together. Every store needs its own transactions.

making a wanted list with the parts you want is how you get the most out of it. Pick what you want, make a wanted list - and then you can sort by store to see which has more of what's on the list, compare prices, sort stores by region, etcetera

When you're ready to buy you check out, then the seller sends you an invoice, then you pay via paypal, then they mail out the bricks.

Or use the new instant checkout if the seller is set up for it.
