How much weight can cross axles support? The thrusters will be connected to the body of the ship using the circled portion. The thrusters are made up of 154 bricks. Can anyone tell if there will be too much strain on the cross axle.

Why not a continuation of the old space themes? So those sets failing is less risk for Lego than if their original sets were to bomb. Star Wars is an absurd amount of the Lego catalog, but if it failed it would still fall on the shoulders of both Disney and Lego.
Not to mention that the losses are single percentages off a still profitable company. But doom and gloom sells more than “we’re still alright chill out”

Star Wars has ridiculous licensing fees, which is bizarre, considering you can still get official Porsche and Ferrari sets for ten cents a piece on the regular. Lego has indeed gotten more expensive, but when you consider that a lot of that is the Star Wars effect, inflation, plus the general quality of sets going up (not to say TLG hasn't taken a few steps backwards, e.g. box art, prints versus stickers, etc.), the price increases aren't really ridiculous.

Havent bought a lego set in years but pic related caught my eye. Would anyone recommend it, and if not is there anything else in a similar vein? It's always seemed sorta gloomy to me, in that sort of New England Stephen King sort of way, but if that's what you're into, then go for it. Could lego had a chance to make an action figures line if they didnt go with Galidor?

I personally think that Lego fucking sucks at making/designing humans and just regular good guys for action figures line.

You can see that by Nu-Bionicles that sold like crap. But i personally think it was all fault of really really bad design choices. Only few bad guys had better deisgns and useful pieces.

Most of others had the "girl from Star Wars" syndrom when it looked boring so even builders didnt buy it.

As for Galidor - it was just a bad design choice overall. Everything looked so goddam ugly and horrible in a hilarious way.
I think if Lego would use strong appealing designs it could win with it.
PS:
It also blows my mind that we having ugly star wars ball and socket figures these days and its like the last coffin to this type of figures.
It IS NOT the problem of this whole "balls and sockets" connection figures but boring SW-characters like Luke/Finn/That regular girl that keep shelfwarming hard.
I think Lego just going through some serious UNLUCKY choices that only adds problems to such theme.

The door/"building" section is 16 studs wide at it's widest, with a depth of 9 studs. The door is 27 plates tall at it's tallest, from and including the base it sits on.

I can't really tell you the size of the platform as I modified mine to make it larger.

What's the longest it's ever taken you to build a set?

I got the UCS Tantive IV soon after it came out. Was my first and only UCS set. Must have been about 11 at the time.

The build had 3 sections: head, mid, tail (with all the engines)

I built the head relatively quickly but the whole thing was taking such a long bloody time that I took a break... for 2 years. So there she sat, under my bed, half completed until our internet went down one day so I decided to finish it.

2 years, lads.

The longest continuous building session I've done was probably about 6-7 hours. I bought a bunch of Star Wars sets at once (Tie Bomber, Jabba's Palace, Geonosian Fighter, T16 Skyhopper, AT TE) which I basically built in one sitting.

I recently got some old Western sets. I would like to make a display with some of the flagship sets from the 90's.

I saw a lot of people using Ikea Detolf, but it's not big enough for most of the sets. Do you guys know of any relatively cheap glass display cabinets that are deep enough (about 50cm) for bigger sets? The standard size seems to be about 40x40cm. There's some that are wider, but the depth is nealy always 40cm. All the larger ones are extremely expensive.

UCS Star Destroyer. Got it when I was about 11 or 12, built the structural frame and for some reason I thought the set was missing a bunch of the magnet pieces that are used to hold the plates in place. Put it all back in the box and due to limited space, didn't take it out for about 10 years.

One day last year, I got bored and thought, "I'm finishing that thing, missing pieces be damned. I'm smart enough to figure out a solution with the pieces I have." Turns out all the magnets were right there anyway, dumb kid me missed them somehow. And that's how I built a giant grey triangle in a decade.

This was the biggest LEGO set I had as a kid. It kind of bummed me out at first, since I was so into Space and Pirates, but it was such a huge, cool set.

And, despite the fact that I pretty much hated Westerns as far as movies and stuff go, I actually ended up with pretty much the entire LEGO Western town.

There was a similar rundown new england spooky vampire house in the same shade of sand green a couple of years ago. But it goes for ungodly prices these days. Also check out the larger structures of the scooby-doo sets from a while ago for buildings with a crummy patina, but they are more toyish and tied to an obvious license.
I don't own the fishingstore, but personally thinks it looks like an amazing set with tons of neat details and implied story around it.

I've still got about ten or so of them, but sadly most of the red plastic connectors are broken. Last time I'm aware of them being used was Rock Raiders which used yellow connectors. I only found that out about a month or so ago when I found an old set. A happy find.

Sick gnarly play it loud 'parents don't understand' rebellion that was often also kinda silly is now contrasted by a serious, 'self-aware' cool. Kids always look up to what they think is aldult, or revolt against it. The more you genuinely advertise yourself as really liking a thing, the easier it becomes to get flak for it. So staying aloof and in the middle liking things generally under the label of respected/adult/serious is the safest option.
Kids genuinely liking vogue and hypebeast fashion is fine, but the weird self-advertising, social and peerpressure i'm worried about. I'm afraid it will inhibit people really diving into the things they like.

This set makes me sick. We don't even get 400 bricks to recreate Mos Eisley cantina with. Whose Idea was it to downsize all the star wars sets across the board. I'm frustrated now its goina cost 20 dollars for the speeder car and ~45 bucks for this set just to recreate a smaller a shard of what the 75052 set was.

Did lego added phosphor to plastic mix just in case somebody would try to light them up by a mere accident?
I never heard any hints of such parts being able to glow... Lego never said anything about them having phosphor.
PS:
I have other toys that light up under the dark light. Some of them are quite random...i dont think it was their gimmick...
do people just throw phosphor to mix it with plastic randomly in factories?

I went into the LEGO store today, with plans on spending about $400 on some assortment of a couple of current modulars and/or that new huge modular-esque Ninjago set, and/or the Ghostbusters HQ and/or the Ideas Fishing shop.

They were sold out of everything.

Janga bricks officially gave 75190 First order star destroyer the best interior of any star destroyer or variant released to date. Do you guys agree? I kind of want to buy it now after seeing how nice it looks as a set despite not being interested in any extended trilogy sets or buying any.

The four main colors that are guaranteed to light up are:

>Transparent Neon Orange
>Transparent Neon Green
>Transparent Medium Blue
>Transparent Neon Yellow

Several other colors light up, including the ghost legs pictured (which appear marbled with an opaque color and transparent clear), glow-in-the-dark pieces, and some red pieces.

The main problem I have with using UV lights is the blue glow that gets cast over the entire scene. I just got a tiny UV flashlight that I have yet to try out, but my hope is that I can at least minimize the area where I have to deal with the blue glow.

The easiest way to fix it is to use an image editor to desaturate the blues, but then if there are any blue pieces in the scene they turn gray.

I don't think it's coincidental that all the opaque red pieces here >>6694856
that are CMF pieces (probably made in China) are phosphorous and the other red pieces next to them don't. I don't know anything about the P&C industry but I would guess that some types of plastics require phosphorous chemicals as part of their mix, so it's less of an Easter egg by the manufacturer and more of a requirement of the material's creation.

Interestingly, if you look at the old catalog photos from before the digital days, you'll notice that the trans-neon green parts are glowing.

Incorrect, although the mouth of the head in the video looks like it might be even higher than the third-party neutral face, which is higher than the mouth on this official Lego element.
