Volcanicus looks like a floppy piece of shit like Menasor, but he really holds together well, like they actually fucking learned from that disaster. My only issue with Grimlock are his tiny dino claws, the PE addon gives him better proportions, but still not bigger claws/toes, dino mode isn't perfect, but its far better than the FoC dino, both had fat tails.

I wouldn't say outdated, they were meant to represent specific IDW designs, but they d look out of place with the new g1 slavish bots, Magnus could be "fixed" just with a new chest plate and shoulder missiles, but Springer needs another figure, too bad most 3p are mp scale.

I just recently bought this guy as my first Transformer in a few years because I thought the colors were cool (though I wish it looked more like the picture on the back (why do so many transformers have different colors than than the promo shots?)).

It's kinda neat. What else should I get? I don't know anything really about Transformers outside of a few I got like 8-10 years ago.

Same. The Generations figure amazingly managed to give him two great alt. modes that actually look like a car and a helicopter, and people legitimately want him redone as a worse toy because they either have a boner for geewun, or a hate-boner for IDW.

I love drinking the tears of people who hate Generations Sandstorm. I love that neither of his alt. modes nor his bot mode look anything like his shit G1 version, because he's one of my favorite-looking bots of all time because of it.

Sure they both tend to break but you can't compare something that is structurally decent but not supposed to be used as joint to a plastic that is fundamentally and structurally unstable because the chemicals they used tend to degrade.

So is it widely agreed that this fucker is the worst Deluxe in CW? I got him cheap at a flea market this weekend and holy shit, I regret every penny. I thought I might like him just because he's Wheeljack, but he's awful. Paint apps are chintzy, "white" plastic is milky and cheap-looking, posability sucks, proportions are off, that stupid hip joint is retarded, his dual-layered kibble flaps are absurd, and his transformation is one of the most unsatisfying ever. Everything feels incomplete, like it's all a bunch of half-steps. I'm glad I skipped out on most of combiner wars.

Best thing about him is his neat little gun-blade thing, which is totally going to a more deserving bot.

Takara's Lightspeed uses the same mold and that's not as bad as Wheeljack. The Breakdown mold was already regarded as one of the worst deluxes to begin with and Wheeljack is the worst of its iterations.

I'd say Wheeljack is worse. He's basically got zero paint and his white plastic is worse in most lighting. The mold itself is generally fine, I think it works well, its just not a good Sunstreaker.

Though, admittedly I do own Sunstreaker and I like him, I'm more than willing to admit he's a low point in CW as a whole.

I got him for a similar price, and I don't own any other Combiner Wars stuff (well, I got Wheeljack, but he's not long for this world, fucking piece of shit), I just really like the concept of Roller as a transformable bot. His color combo is neat and I love silver paint. His articulation is really awesome, I love that he has ankle tilts, and his plethora of weapon ports is bitchin'.

Ratchet gets Jeffery Combs, so we literally have the fucking reanimator as the team medic and that sort of strokes my B movie horror fan boner. Then you have Kevin Michael Richardson taking over as Bulkhead, which again honestly feels like an improvement on the character.

Like I hate to say voice acting is maybe the biggest weakness of Animated for me, not that its bad, but the voices themselves sound not so great on some characters. Tom Kenny Starscream is just awful, his characterization is fine though, like he's just good'ol dipshit backstab boy.

Tom Kenney is a fantastic Starscream because his voice has absolutely no pretense of being anything other than a spineless coward, which makes his fleeting successes and bigger schemes more amusing. Tom Kenny's Starscream just sounds entirely too close to Spongebob for me to take seriously, which yeah I guess that's closer to the pathetic nature of his G1 counterpart. Steve Blum basically took forever to grow on me in the role too though, I hated him for a while, but you know it was the characterization made it work out well.

Prowl is... an odd one. He's done by Phil Lamar right? He's kind of cool calm voice sometimes sounds more like, "I live off of ambien." Its like they wanted the character to be sardonic, but the direction needed aid on describing what they wanted.

So like there's just as much good, ok, and bad for the voices on me. Bumblebee and Star Scream are the weakest, but Prime and Megatron are the strongest, for me personally.

Knights of Cybertron are a bunch of early age Transformers from before the war who went into space to find "Cybertopia" but haven't been seen since.

The "main" (though you would never know it given how Roberts never gave a fuck about advancing it until IDW lost the Hasbro master license backing a man who shitted on 9-11 victims) plot for More Than Meets The Eyes involves Rodimus Prime and pretty much EVERY big name character save Bumblebee, Starscream, and Optimus Prime, going out into space to find them so that

1. They can restore the Creation Matrix (since Primus doesn't exist in IDW lore) and

2. To pass ultimate judgement onto Megatron for his crimes of starting the Great War.

As for the pirates, they exist mainly in Botcon/TF Fan Club fiction as a small group of random OC characters created from repainting existing molds new characters, along with G1 cartoon Scorponok, who is now partnered with Zarak's son. They basically are all Decepticon losers who go around preying on innocent people.

The only other pirate group are Beast Wars Neo Seacons, who run a pirate ship and are more incompetent neutral evil than chaotic evil like the Botcon/TF Fanclub pirates

Just finished Ep 9 of Animated. I have mixed feelings on combining 2 female characters into a single character, but it does add a good amount of depth to Elita/Arachnia. Overall a pretty tops episode, maybe I can get into this.

And then we open the Soundwave episode with this. I did get a chuckle out of soundwave being delivered in a box that looks like his G1 counterpart.

Doubledealer is great but I always thought that Counterpunch's disguise was too simple to not be outright stupid. His Decepticon/Autobot side is literally going Voldemort on the back of his head. His knees are a more instrumental part of his disguise than his face.

Come to think of it, I would maybe even consider just dying the parts that need to be green and then working from there. That's what I did for making Onslaught into Megatron. I dyed the whole thing black that way it would be easier to make it all look uniform.

It makes sense. PotP is such a marked drop in quality, Takara couldn't commit to sprucing up EVERY mold to LG standards for Asian release, so now they're just picking and choosing so they can make a focused effort and deliver a high-quality collector line using only the molds with the most potential.
