There have been a few times where it was a lot cheaper for me to buy "X Legs with Y Hips" and "Y Legs with X Hips" and then switch out all the leg and hips than it would have been to buy hips and legs that were the same color.

I got bored of the ship in 76101 pretty much ten minutes after building it, so I did an alternate build.
Used pretty much everything except the 2 windows, figs, and some leftover pieces.
I guess it's a spaceship..?

Also picked up a Mighty Micro set on a whim. Tolerance on the heads and hair is absolute shit.

The Thor hair kept popping off while I was playing with it, and I realized that if I slowly pushed it upward I could cause it to actually launch itself so hard it would pop off completely and fall to the ground. I was thinking of getting the Starlord vs. Nebula one, but then I realized that the cassette tape was a sticker.

There's also a Gurren Lagann build with the series 1 mixels, I built that one and, while a bit flimsy, it looked pretty good.

That's a good system. I picked up a bunch at walmart yesterday and licked them while I was looking at other legos, but when I got to checkout I realized I didnt have my wallet. It was kind of embarrassing to have to put them all back.

There is a right and a wrong way to do it tho, the EU encompass thousandths of years, so it's reasonable to expect lots of variation in those spams of time, all the new movies take place in the same short amount of time after the beginning of the empire and before the battle of Yavin, and in the OT you just had 3 variations which is totally reasonable for an army.

I have no problem with unique suits for the new order, elite troopers and maybe tank drivers, but things like beach troopers was just too much, we got 3 whole new troopers in a single movie last year.

Also while typing that up I realized that there's no way Han was young enough for the new movie to take place during the imperial period, surely, he was way older than Luke.

Thanks. I had been buying the Modulars to see how LEGO did it. But that got expensive in a hurry. So I've been buying by the tote. (Average tote weighs 40-50 pounds and I get for $125-$200) Yes it's a pain sorting. Mainly because I'll get inspired to build something in the middle of the sorting and start building. Yup. I've got a room with all the sterlite drawers covering a whole wall and many of the smaller drawer kits you can get on Amazon for sorting the smaller bits. Lucas owned all of the toy rights, so he knew it was the franchise's bread and butter. Which is why there was so much design put into the prequels.

Why do a lot of System sets these days use female, rather than male, joints to begin their limbs?

E.g. for a set with system-CCBS joints, the torso will have female joint ends for the shoulders and hips, with the male joints being used to attach the arms and legs. If it were the other way around, however, wouldn't it be much less restrictive? Metalbeard here shows this off a little, though I think in his case the decorative bricks beside his head would have to be shortened to improve articulation further.

There are cases where this distinctly isn't true, like with the Exo-force/Knights Kingdom style snap friction joints, and this is also on Metalbeard, but I feel like the female-male rather than male-female arrangement is common on sets that use bionicle joint or mixel joint parts.

I noticed this on nexo knights mechception. It's actually the opposite problem since they used the ratcheted joints with pins, but reversing the parts gave more articulation. Only reason I can think of would be coloring, since they refuse to give matching parts for those pieces in matching colors for some reason.

Turns out it wasn't a winebottle, but you could definately make one with dark red, tan, dark green, and black or something. They even make a 2x2 cylinder with a technic hole for attachment. Might even be able to use those fez pieces for a nice cork.

Not sure if all the parts come in the right colours but might be worth checking out.

Actually yeah, I'm building Sanctum Sanctorum right now and it's pretty damn impressive. Now, I would probably recommend somebody just buy a standard modular for an extra 50% of the cost, but for a build that can be used WITH other modulars and city stuff, it's pretty damn good.

This set is one of a very small amount of sets that actually depict castle life for average villagers. I know that if you've ever see me post this, it looks no different now than any previous post.

sooooo much has changed under the skin though. Only polished surfaces will keep the tracks from driving the engine. it works better than any official tracked lego vehicle (in a straight line, no differential)

the fenders used to rub the tracks and wheels, while the headlamps and the hood rubbed the fenders. the sideviews were held on by hope and the doors would cam off past 20 degrees. it can actually be played with like a toy.

They were supposed to build small monsters and the bricks themselves had eyes.

Okay just opened this set. It was sealed and new. I got it off Amazon prime. While this set is 6 years old, these brown pieces are brittle and they are all breaking on me as soon as I put them together. What do I do?

Well my brand new castle set is already back into the dark ages with these brown bricks. All breaking even the 2x2 in my hand. I'm going to be asking Lego to be replacing hundreds of parts. Should I even bother to keep opening all the bags and testing them or can I just show them the sample size and have them send as many in the set?

Yeah on replacement part page it allows me to just start making a list from the set if I look it up. But since so many are breaking on me, I should probably call them tomorrow and see where to proceed. They may ask me to send them the set to do a quality check.

Brown pieces produced in some of the 2010s years are fucking awful. Just ask for all of them to be changed. They're all gonna break anyway otherwise, no matter how much care you put on handling them (unless you don't use them).

No force applied, soon as you snap it together, you can hear a crunch sound. Soon as you separate the bricks with a separator, it breaks. I can fucking break a 2x2 with my fingers. That's how brittle it is.

Well I have the Sopwith Camel sealed right in front of me. I'll let you know how it turns out after work. It is from the same year as the Kingdoms set I believe. But it's hard to say. They are from two different sellers meaning they probably are not from the same batch of lego.

I haven't even seen Mega in shelves. But I do live in Europe so it could be different. One store did however import some Pokemon Mega sets and I'm tempted in getting Gyarados, even if they have pretty steep markup (they ask over 50€)
