Whenever I'm at a crowded store I see kids picking up capeshit sets followed by City and Ninjago stuff.
I guess most of them kind of understand that SW sets are expensive for what they offer. Capeshit sets are more balanced in that regard.

So sick of ninjago. It pains me to think what we're missing out on with all the resources and new parts going into new ways to make katanas, head wraps, and back sheaths. It would probably look better in a solid color and not twice the height of a minifig. I can't wait to see how they incorporate it into 20 'different' motorcycles.

I didn't mind it while nexo knights was around, but excluding the movie sets the theme is 'meh' to me. I was a little excited at the idea that there was a mad max sub-theme season, and some of the leaked dragons/mech set names. Seeing that sword reminds me just how much of the same old stuff the new ninjago stuff always is. It's nice to get yet another sword, but I'd rather have something else. Especially if we're going to have to buy another motorcycle with another Lloyd minifig to get the new sword.

You know, as much as Nexo missed the mark on so many levels, it succeeded in one thing Ninjago and Chima didn't, and that was the $10 single minifig packs. I gladly took battle suit and even ultimate sets over spinners and speedorz.

Stupid question but why does lego differentiate between missing/replaced bricks and buying them? Does lego even check if you buy them? Just wanna buy legit pieces but dont get why they let you put that other option too without proof of transaction

If you put in more than 6 pieces at the same time in the replacement service, even from different sets, they flag your order and make you wait a couple days just for them to cancel it with no conversation to explain yourself.
They don't ban you but it makes just buying the parts for faster service somewhat tempting.

I guess they don't sell as well, considering the only LEGO dinosaur herbivores we've gotten sicne 2012 are a Triceratops, a Stigymoloch (which is largely just a raptor mold), and a "Gallimimus" (lmao JW polybag)

It's not as simple as "6 pieces or more and they flag you'. AFAIK they have a real human bean check out every order and your account history to make sure you aren't abusing the system. They might send you pieces for a set you don't own at all if you do it like once, but don't expect to get tons of free bricks from them.

Has anyone modded any of the Speed Champion cars to make them wider?
I just got the '68 Mustang today. It's a nice build and it looks really good, from the sides. From the front (or back) it looks narrow.

Now that will be fine with the rest of my Lego cars in my (planned) Lego city.
But I also plan on doing what you could call a "display" that would pretty much be my fantasy garage/hanger bay. It will be filled with my favorite cars and small spaceships and planes. I want to put a Mustang in there, among others, but I want them to look a bit more "realistic", i.e have a more normal looking width.
So I'm thinking 8 studs wide might be alright (maybe 10 for the 2006 Ford GT), but I'm unsure how that will look, or if it would even be possible without ruining the look.

So has anyone else done that? If so, could you share pics?

Been looking at different styles of LEGO trucks and I think this might be one of the best designs for the semi for price. There are some others out on the market now but those are just daycabs. Otherwise the big yellow LEGO store truck might be the best design.

That one does look nice. Don't see many cabovers on the road anymore. I think the design isn't popular because the only way to get to the engine is to tip the whole body forward. I imagine that would really make a mess out of the bunk every morning.

I want to make a minifig of Dr Doom that looks less campy than the official minifig and more like something that would be in the MCU.

What do you think of this mockup? I like to think he'd be something in between Dr Strange and Iron Man so hence the arc reactor-esque chest.

nice mech, really good parts use on the arms.

the Creator series are usually well priced and good parts packs. There are still some decent mechs available, like pic related and some Nexo Knights sets; the cheap battlesuits in different colors are nice and a good source of ball joints.

Hard to recommend anything specific; me, I just look at whatever sets have parts I want at the moment and check if they're cheap enough.

Hoooooly shit

If you were worried about your Simpsons CMF printing wearing off, don't be. This torso started off as Edna Krabappel, and I burned through an eraser without even making a mark on it. After that I switched to Brasso and scrubbed it for a solid hour before I finally got the jacket and undershirt printing removed. Not entirely satisfied with the job because I had to scrub so hard that I left some noticeable scratches on the surface. Luckily they don't show under good lighting conditions.

An anon here made a bunch of 8-wide mods of several speedchamps. He might still be around here somewhere. I remember them even having openable hoods and stuff.
I personally like them six-wide but with a shortened wheelbase to around 4 studs between fenders and a six-wide cockpit that seats two. It gives them a lot more cartoony look and higher profile compared to original speedchamps and the other anon, but i personaly don't like cars looking too long and wide. This is also because I display them next to more modestly sized buildings and roadplates and dioramas.

Used those spongebob legs with matching green hips for my scaredy lime girls excercise oufit too! The shoddy yellow printing on green matches lime so well. It's a technique i try to use more often now, it's nice to work with what you're given regardless of if it served its original purpose.
Here's another leotard i made for the zombie twins. The cleavage cut-out is actually supposed to be white printed on dark blue. But the subpar printing makes it match light bluish gray super closely.

Top floor, where the actual DJ booth is.
Have it all nice and walled in for sound-proofing, and an exterior soundboard/mixer.
Two chairs in the DJ booth for interviews and the like, and our DJ himself.
Need to build another couch for that big open area next to the stairs, as this is essentially the 'Green Room' area as well, which is why there's a little green minifridge, too.

Calculated how much I just spent at Brickmania and on bricklink for the past month prices include shipping and tax in total. FOOKA FOOKA

Brickmania 472.22USD. I got two of their world war 2 instruction booklets, four order of tracklinks, five minifigures, and like in total 30 brickarms weapons, and attachments, and lastly one tank that I couldn't find in either of the booklets I ordered.

I also spent 306USD on bricklink for ordering parts to builds from brickmania's tanks and a few other custom mocs I got instructions for.

Spent around 20 dollars in custom moc instructions from various other sites.

Fucking 798.32 dollars I just spent and that was all within this month. Still have a shit load of packages in the mail coming too.

There's a couple outfits like this.

Brickmania uses mostly Lego parts, but some have custom printings, minifigs for example. They make their own tank treads in three sizes and use weapons/backpacks/hats/whatever from Brickarms which is a smaller outfit that makes equipment for minifigs.

There are a couple others like that, like Brickwarriors and Brickforge. And some others, like Brickfortress that makes short articulated minifig legs, and Arealight customs that make curved torsos and mostly star wars accessories.

A nice little Cracklink order came in today and with it I've now "finished" my armored Y-wings.
The White and Yellow is a Gold Squadron Y-wing and the Green and Black one is my personal Y-wing.
There's a couple of little things that I'll modify later on mine, but otherwise they're done.

Not a problem. The university where I study at has direct ties to my country's state funded geological company, or I can get employed directly by the university's Institute of Geological Sciences or I can be employed by the museum in the city where the university is at. All of those options are about doing research. And there aren't many students doing paleontology, so not much competition. Not to mention we already are specializing on our field of research. I myself am doing micropaleontology on ostracods, which is something that hasn't been researched much in my country.

Once again, that still doesn't make it a bad set, though. Sounds like a bunch of mental gymnastics. Lego is a pretty expensive hobby anyway, so to draw the line that ~10 cents a piece is acceptable to take apart and rebuild for fun, but ~14 cents a piece is just too steep and therefore the set is worthless... sounds pretty silly.

It's akin to people joking about train and farmequipment fags. Some people are puzzled and don't understand the intense obsession with building giant, intericately engineered working mechanical replicas of some everyday modern combiner because it lacks the more traditional "cool" and imaginative (or rather fantastical/escapist) factor. While combiners are still incredibly boring to me, rusty sooted trains and trucks are something i've come to understand. Technic isn't hated, but just not as popular here.
The one thing people jokingly reference is that from an outside perspective Technic can look like this "I only play mature games, for mature gamers such as myself" offshoot from the wacky colored robot spaceships and medieval waifu castles that are more prevalent among system.

There are ways to do it without them. Try using headlightbricks and cheeseslopes for a more angular look for example!
I'm receiving packages in the mail to finish up a six wide jeep style car that doesn't use any fender pieces.
