I honestly don't know how there were "movie only" fans. As a fan of the books, I feel that if I hadn't read them, I wouldn't have understanded movies 5-8 at all. Especially 5 and 7.

Even the most hardcore fans I know view the movies as a "best of" compilation of scenes from the books, since they're near impossible to understand otherwise.

Feels good, man. Eventually I'll get onto the books, but I'd rather get the nice hardcover versions. There are so many Lego sets I want to buy that they get pushed back as a priority though.

I just counted; I have 123 standard black bases, 17 orange ones, and four black with Batman logo pattern. Been wondering for a while how many bases I had so thanks for the prompt.

Doesn't line up with my CMF total because I've gotten some minifigs on 4chan that came without bases, and I've found some bases lying loose where someone's ripped open all the bags in the store.

Anyone else disappointed with the Harry Potter sets?

I mean, the minifigs are cool, but the hogwarts - even when combined with the different sets - look super disappointing, and I really don't like the fact that the D2C Hogwarts is gonna be with microfigs.

Never made a Brickheadz before and it's been a while since I made a MOC at all (likely three or four years). What do you guys think of this, and any way I could make it better?

I didn't realize the grey of the "skull" would be so easily seen. Anything to fix that?

The rumor going around is that each year there will be another big chunk of the castle to connect onto these two sets. Likely next wave would have the Clocktower and the dark tower where Sirius is kept in year 3. Likely a few Goblet of Fire sets next year too which would be exciting to get a new dragon and maybe some merfolk.

At this rate you will soon buy standard plastic toys with "lego" on the side. No assembly required.

I've still got a fair bit of work to do. At the moment each half is only connected by a handful of bricks, so I want to replace the side walls with more interlocked walls. Also thinking I might rise each floor up an extra brick. And then I also want to make it so that I can separate each floor like the modulars. Oh yeah, and add some of the technic brick so that they can attach to other modulars. And of course swap out the mismatched colours that I used because I don't currently have the right ones on hand.

As far as specifics for each building.
I'm going to make the Sanctum 4 studs "deeper" (as in extend the distance from front to back), which will give the ground floor a total footprint (minus the sloppy rim thing) of 16 studs by 16 studs. Then I'll put it on a 16x32 base plate, put a side walk in the front and an overgrown garden in the back. Might also rise it up and give it an implied basement.
Also going to gut the entire interior, which shouldn't be too hard as I only put the interior in for one side (well ok, I also put the armchair from the second one in as well). Then I'll get some of those big curved castle doors and put them at the back of the ground floor. They'll just have a black wall behind them.
I don't like the idea of it being some big fuck-off-huge building, like it is in the MCU. I like to think that it's some little building, nestled between too bigger buildings. But due to magic, it's fucking huge inside (kinda like say the TARDIS). I'm not really a Doctor Strange fan, so that may be the case in the comics as well, I don't know. Either way, the external will be small and one day I'll try and build a big internal layout.

The pizza place/apartment building is going to require a lot more work. I'm going to widen it by 8 studs. These 8 studs will make up a hallway that will run along the left side and contain a stair case. I'll also make it deeper, just not sure how much so yet, but I want to have at least 2, multi-room, apartments on each floor. This will then be mounted on a 32x32 baseplate. Given that it's currently 16 studs wide, an extra 8 studs will take it up to 24 studs wide, leaving me with an empty area of the right side of the baseplate that's 8 studs wide. This area will become a little alleyway. I'll move the fire escapes around to this side and make it so that it can connect to other modulars by putting in technic bricks/pins hidden in dumpsters or what not. Also going to put in another couple of stories.

The point isn't to be accurate, it's to take the essence of a character and apply it to a cute, standardized base. I find Funko Pops to be ugly as fuck but not because they're "inaccurate", it's because the design of the Funko is unappealing. Brickheadz are cool to me. The Kubros are fucking ugly as sin because they try to be "accurate" instead of just an approximation of a character

I would actually like to understand the appeal of the Brickheads. I mean to me they do just seem like a minor novelty that is more just an excuse for some hard to find pieces in new colors. To me the Minifigs and bigfigs have the appeal because they are on a set scale and can move and be posed, all be it in a very limited range. But Brickheads are pretty much just display pieces with only one pose. I mean maybe that's enough but if there is something else I would like to know.

I like the fact that we are getting themes that would never get a minifig scale (or any) sets. The main allure is something along the lines of a fun build for $10 that's going to look nice on a shelf. These things have more SNOT building than anything in the price range.

For the computer analogy; I sure the savvy consumer would rather buy a computer for the specs first and the apple brand last or even build their own from cherry picked/salvaged components.

This is what I wrote up when I first came up with the faction:

Every Eco-Tron set would come with at least one plant under glass. Larger sets would include a trans-clear version of this piece

with some flowers inside maybe. The big base set could be a futuristic greenhouse with the large curved Paradisa windows and a bunch of hoses inside.

Faction colors are white and green with light bley accents, and trans-clear windows. Basically just go with space greenhouse since their origin story is:

Spyrius are one of many factions vying for power in an isolated cluster of star systems, a region once part of a long-extinct pair of empires that wiped each other out. They prefer to raid and capture stocks of plunder gathered by rival factions, rather than engaging in recovery operations of their own. The larger ship then flies in and deploys more troops to collect the plunder, while the saucer squadron hovers out of sight, ready to ambush enemy reinforcements. Rumor has it that they are envious of the modular starships of SP and Ice Planet and are gathering materials to blatantly rip off their designs; only time will tell.

Really hating how there's no way of telling the figures apart since they use the exact same parts. If there's an uneven distribution on top of that I might as well drop this series and just go for the other sets, which look pretty good desu.
Also I would expect to pay a bit less for those, given that they are no standard minifigs, but I can't tell anymore with the printed parts.

You can use stud.io to quickly check if parts exist in a certain colour (you turn only existing colours mode on, and on the used parts bar on the right you see a yellow ! icon when it doesn't exist) but since it can have mistakes, there really isn't any real technique besides checking the part inventory on bricklink and then looking in what colours they come in.

When I have a wanted list with some parts that could act as substitutes and go search per store per wanted list, you can also click on the tab 'selected parts' or something. Then do searches by deselecting and selecting when substitute you want to check for.
I wish there was a better system for that too.
As in: I want the minimum amount of stores that have piece 'A', 'B', 'C', & 'D or E or F'.

It has maxifig heads with near-mint printing and hands, some Fabuland figs, Fabuland windows, doors, wheelbarrow, and scooter, a bunch of classic Castle wall panels, four or five Crusaders shields with most or all of the printing, white wedge with classic Space printing, and several pieces that I had never seen before.

But the coolest part was when I found an Old Pink 3x3 dish because I knew that meant there might be some Paradisa stuff. Turns out it's a near-complete 6402 Sidewalk Cafe, and there's at least one of these pic related, a 2x2 tile with four flavors of ice cream! There might be a second tile that I didn't see but all the pieces are soaking in hot water at the moment because they have little kid grime all over them.

Also a tub of Duplos, including four or five of the classic car chassis that I had on my want list, and several cool old printed pieces.

Went through the box, which looks like shit. Inside though, most of the bags haven't even been opened.. Looks like it's missing only about 5 parts to the build, but then 3 of the minifigs are missing their torsos and heads. Shame, but that's still a great deal for five bucks.

Alright I recently came up on a Jango Fett SW buildable figure, a creator 3in1 (the yellow and dark blue jet) and an assorted smaller batch of a police money transporter (incomplete) and a firetruck (also incomplete). Not bad considering I just got out here and my bricks are at least a month behind me.

So my question is: using just Jango and some of the assorted parts is it possible to build a mech of some manner? I see you guys do all the time and make it look easy, but I'm a mech building noob. Any sites or forums to learn this stuff? Help an old bastard out

Personally I'd say yes, though I find their overmolded weapons to be prohibitively expensive. If you're wanting to test the waters I'd recommend getting one or more of their weapons packs, particularly the value packs as they offer nice selections of weapons for only 6 bucks.

Your mileage may vary though, the listing pic and what you get may differ significantly and/or you get an overload of less desirable weapons/accessories. They've only copied a handful of BrickArms as well, if there's specific ones you want you'll still have to go to the source. I'm not against the bulk packs by any means (bought several myself), just throwing in my two bits.

Pic related was my first bulk order, note the giant piles of largely useless (to me) ninjago dragon swords and throwing stars.

The bulk packs are usually just a bunch of random stuff thrown together, yeah. But there's smaller more specific packs you can buy too that are (at least in my experience) pretty dang good. You still can't buy individual weapons though, unfortunately.

Yeah the 10-packs, picked up several of those too but they're mostly BrickWarriors copies, not a bad thing as they also make some great weapons, though their style differs some from BrickArms. There was one store where I was able to buy some weapons individually but it was the same selection as the 10-packs. There's another store that offers pic related, mostly BrickArms with some BrickForge, Combat Brick and MinifigCat mixed in, not randomized like the others but very sniper rifle-heavy.

I wish, Dutch toystores have a binding contract with LEGO that stipulates sets to never be sold for less than 30% off unless damaged or other some such occurences. A local store was closing, with all stock being sold with higher and higher discounts, but staff were instructed to take the Lego off the shelves for redistribution to other stores once -40% started.

Most Star Wars Lego isn't worth it even with 30% off due to license inflation

'NO'. I know it's the dullest movie franchise in the history of movie franchises, but even if the adventures of the boy wizaard and his friends as they fight assorted can only be distinguished by the castle and other locations being changed between films, it's still shitty practice.

Movie 1/2 did it as cheap as possible, movie 3 had the best version in my opinion, then they made it more and more detailed and refined which i didn't particularly like. I like the older and more medieval feel of the PoA castle.
That being said, i don't care that most of the movies and/or books are bad, the castle looks cool and comfy and i'd love to have a full model of it. Also i can modify it at will since it's legoes.

As for Star Trek, I'm not really a fan, so idc about that one
All in all, I can't see that happening, TLG really gives SW a lot of attention, which probably makes the high execs of Disney happy, and they would prefer to keep it that way, it's the safest bet
Also, all other Disney licenses belong to LEGO, so having one faction with another company seems unnatural
And as for Star Trek, there isn't nearly enough material (or a fanbase as large as SW's) to work with, so they probably would fight to keep the license
But yeah, seeing some MC style vehicles and characters would be sweet
