MMC. Can't wait for Arcee, and even though I'm not buying Bruticus I'm still blown away by the engineering. But also Magic Square pulled through with fully colored samples of all their initial designs, and Iron Factory's DJD is a home run.

Should have seen it coming, but I guess Function-X Apeface. MMC Dai Atlas was a nice surprise too.

All the beautiful fuckhuge figures that I wish were smaller. Also Badcube's "Natures" series should be amazing but they stupidly launched it with an OS Huffer KO.

I got X2's Nemesis Prime today and he came with this little dude. I didn't know they were releasing these yet.

I actually prefer the PE look for that very reason.

His dragon alt mode is fine, but his robot mode is clearly Beast Megs's weakest of his three bodies mainly because, much like Transmetal Primal, it is oddly organic and out of place on him especially after his very elegant Transmetal form.

Honestly I view him as being very much in the same boat as Transmetal primal since I actually really like TM Primal's beast mode, much as I like Megatron's actual dragon alt mode, but their robot modes... bleh. Pass.

The downgrade in articulation and transformation engineering is still a shame, though.

For me Its a tie between MMC and Planet X. The both had ample new stuff to show and stuff people actually wanted.

Overall I give this con a 9.5/10. Hell of a lot better than lasts years TFCT. Which leads me to not expect much out of the fall TFcon since I think everyone blew their load here.

I'm most curious about the kibble free bruticus, if it turned out to be good, it looks very nice, but I'm then stuck with "but what about swindle?" because he's a stronger character than the rest of the team.

Because arcee is a girl with a chest plate and shoulder pauldrons for kibble, nothing else, so to. Get a good car, it has to.fold into two tiny pauldrons, then that has to be balanced by the girl leg materials.

This is on the level of asking why we never got screen accuracy in transformation tf4 ksi bots, should be easy, yeah? Just take a truck, then make it a robot by disassembly and reassembly in different order.

In terms of accuracy, yeah, it's probably the worst but if you ask me, that actually does it some favors since I hate Kignt Prime's truck mode. It's too exaggerated with so many inflated looking sloped chunks that make it look more like a giant Hot Wheels truck. I know those kinds of trucks do exist but they are more for vanity and show more than functionality. It just doesn't seem fitting for a character like Prime, especially with the flames, which I still never liked but they're both pretty established at this point. But over all, this one tones all of the shapes down a little, especially that stupid sloped grill, and I appreciate that.

In terms of panel lines, I'd say second worse but still far better than that jigsaw puzzle mess that showed up before Challenger. I'd say the bot mode and the less ugly looking truck make up for the panel lines though.

What bothers me is that the paldrons are always the part that suffers all of the panel forming when what I want is for them to just be mostly solid pieces, which the deluxe figure managed to pull off better than the MP scale figures have so far. The backs of them look okay but from the front, which is what I'm going to be looking at most of the time, b they look like a folder up mess. Ican deal with the rest of the hood and rear paneling up into a backpack because that shit matters far less to the overall design of the robot. I also don't need 100% screen actually because screen actually can't even manage to be consistently accurate to itself most of the time and as we've seen so far, trying to adhere so closely to it causes the figure to suffer overly complicated transformation steps and extra panel lines, as well as more fake alt mode parts in robot mode because the actual piece of the alt mode doesn't have the exact shape we saw in one shot of the cartoon.

That's what held me back on pulling the trigger on the PE figures. They still look pretty fantastic and I still might but they completely ignored the aesthetic of Transmetal 2 and it didn't sit quite right with me.

By far the better profile compared to UT and Ayy attack, but the truck proportions and panels suffer for it. Looks like toyworld just bought out Black Mamba's designs as this is the same prime they were making.

If its not a total clusterfuck when transforming then I may make this my movie prime. UT looks awkward in places but it has a very slick transformation and extremely solid truck mode which I consider an acceptable trade when movie figures are involved. It's going to be a tossup.

Nah, misses the mark for me. Rouge was horrible, Leia almost got it right but goofed some colors and tacked the wheels on wrong, this has goofed colors too and some weird panel shit with the pods. That sound nitpicky? For the cost these go for I damn well will be nitpicky.

Weijiang would do it easy if they just redid Alcee in LG-10 colors. They've done multiple color versions of MPP10, for fuck's sake, yet their second Alcee run kept the same Platinum set colors and only changed the head from the Gen head to a shittier sculpt. They did 4 color releases of their oversized TLK Sqweeks, for crying out loud! What sucks worse is that they've showed off painted copies of an LG-10 color Alcee from day one and still haven't released it!

There was an attempt at Animated a few years ago but there was no interest. It was just the two Constructivism that looked like Mario and Luigi. And I think some static figures of Sari and her dad. Maybe if they had something like that concept season 4 Megatron. But since those failed, there hasn't been any interest in Animated, considering most people just keep buying G1 stuff.

Problem is all the official Animated toys that came out are probably sufficient so there's no need to redo those, it's mainly just making the guys who didn't get toys, and the show has been dead for years so they may not see a strong market for it. BW was a major deal back int he day, is getting official stuff now and has nostalgia, Animated isn't yet old enough for the nostalgia factor(weird, it's about 10 years now but it seems to take 15-20 for real nostalgia to drive sales) and is probably ore a blip on the radar than a major deal. Not that RiD and Cyberverse haven't sort of kept the art style alive...

So am I to take it all the Hasbro corporate whore fanboys have given the fuck up on their anti-3P crusades? I haven't heard much from the major whiners anymore. I think they realized that official TFs are mostly shit,official MPs are overpriced and now cost more than 3P, and the only way to stop 3P would be for the government to pass TPP which would be like setting off a nuke to kill a fly.

I think even Botcon backed off with that "we will confiscate 3P items brought to the con" shit when they realized they'd have no legal grounds to do so and would be inviting themselves to either civil or even criminal charges doing so.

Tomy tried some shit in Japan, because Japan has pro-corporate stances, but that did jack shit to stop 3P outside of a few Japanese retailers not selling the stuff. Hasbro can barely deal with MLP porn sellers in the US let alone the massive 3P company phenomenon.

They’re still out there. Don't have them but the Chinese boards were complaining about a host of tolerance issues caused by them not accounting for the metallic coating's added thickness. If your cousin's set is not broken then it should be ok.

Stores and collectors were dumping them at half price a few months ago, and they were unsure if MFT will ever followup with Snarl and Grimlock. Snarl came out last month and Grimlock's release date is unknown.

Iron Factory question, I really like the look of Lord Scorpion (either version), but I've seen a couple comments on paint chipping. Do either the regular version or the Black Zarak version have particular issues with paint chipping? And is paint chipping a common issue in Iron Factory figures?

Speaking of, their Ruination looks so good. I'm kind of hoping they decide to do some more RID. Scourge, Optimus and Magnus with their Omega Prime combination, Rail Racer, etc.

Nah, I don't agree. This is one case where the 3PKO half assed it. Tightness issues aside, the sculpt and detailing don't work at this larger size and MFT used their own derpy face sculpts. Even if you don't want to support Hasbro, the PotP KOs are probably better value.

A few of my Iron Factory figures seem fairly roughed up though I've minimally touched them outside of a few transformations. Black Zarak definitely has some paint rubbing, notably on his tyrant spear as well as wherever it has painted joints. I don't have the regular megazarak version, so I can't comment there.

Huffer and Pipes were an absolutely awful place to start since I don't even think they had lines.
I am a huge Animated fan and I initially thought they were fan designs and skipped them.
Something like Autobot Sari, Elita One or Omega Supreme would probably be decent sellers.

He doesn't really have any paint anywhere that might chip due to transformation. Possibly paint could chip on his gun handle or if you decide to take sandpaper to his head or something. The gun, head (and antenna on the head), chestplate, feet, little gun turrets, are all that gunmetal-ish paint obviously, so theoretically if you just scraped at it it'd eventually come off, but through regular use it shouldn't, any more than any other figure with a painted head/chest/etc should, because nothing is really transforming on those sections, so theres no transformation rub going on there.

The only 2 pieces of 3p items I bought during TFcon. I was gonna get FT Apache but I saw a guy selling Allen for $100 bucks and I got him down to $75 so I bought him instead on top of I do kinda prefer how Allen looked from the beginning. It was really $190 vs $75 and both of them are pretty good so I went with the cheaper one and saved money for a different figure.

Depending on the character, I'd be interested, sure. Though the toys were great they couldn't quite nail every character due to the show's style, so a figure of say, Prowl (though he also had one of the better figures) is probably one I'd be willing to get. And I'd imagine more along the lines of Robot Spirits/Damashii would make more sense than SRC.

I honestly don't know because I'm not sure whats actually painted on that redeco. On the regular Scorponok though, just to be thorough, the tail tip, gun, shield, feet, grey part of the chest, little turrets, side silver tower things, and head/face are painted though. But again, none of those are really transformation points, except the feet, which you close up both halves, and being feet, means they'll be on the ground.
