It's like the vikings theme, but backwards. The monsters have towns and castles that are being attacked by pirates/vikings/murder-hobos.

A sample wave might be:
An Ork with a horse and wagon. It's filled with food and such. The back has a stud shooter to defend the haul.
A small hut with 2 goblins and an invader. The hut is decorated with a few weapons and maybe a trap play feature. Small camp fire and a rotten tree for that playset feel.
Five figure battle scene. Three monsters, two humans. Several table scatter-able trees, fences, and a tower. Everything gets a play feature.
The big boy castle/fort. A large brown four-sided box with lots of makshift looking attachments and battlements. The king monster (ogre?) has a table with food. Plenty of large windows to shoot arrows at the invaders. The invaders get a ballista with a large spring shooter.
And a battle pack for each side.

Bonus if we add in a special relic to collect!

Personally I’m not wild about the skinny biceps but the toed feet are kind of neat- definitely different than your typical elegant anime mecha. Like the brown accenting too, gives it a certain kind of character.

Definitely a kaiju theme in the vein of Ultraman. Since we usually have minifigure-scaled mechs, I would try microbuilds for something different and the monsters themselves would be minifigures. The city sections in each set would be pretty big.

Albeit in poor shape, this thing is still displayed on the second to top shelf.
I know Timecruisers gets a lot of flak, but i loved that thing ever since i got it for 'Sinterklaas' in the late 90's. Spooks are great.

I got mine today and I've opened up two of the three rows and was curious on if the placement is identical in every box (I assume it is)

If someone has one, could you confirm that Harry Potter in the hogwarts uniform is fourth from the back in every row? (I don't want to say more to keep scalpers from getting to Percival)

Do something similar to Mixels combined with Creator/Designer theme allowing the users to create their own monster designs off that set. The style would be slightly more "realistic" than Mixels, but similar to Pokemon and Digimon.

The general idea of this theme would be about monsters fighting other monsters, held in "official" tournaments. And it would have some sort game rules for battle system similar to Bionicle and Ninjago. Story runs throughout the theme, which is fighting against to the "super-powered" monsters that are deemed illegal by the tournament officials, but a certain group wants them in regardless to give them an upper hand in the fights.

The designs of the monsters takes inspiration from Monster Hunter, cryptids, classical monsters, japanese monsters and myths in a pokemon-like style. Mechanical monsters are also featured in the theme, with inspiration taken from mechs and robotic monsters.

There would be types in this theme, to give some variety and some form of gameplay element for the battle system. The types can be dual typed, as like in pokemon.

I ordered a whatever mirrored stickers and pieces i could get my hands on to update mine too. I haven't experimented that much, but i think the hardplasticy carded mirrors from the Modular Detective Office are the best option.
The friends 41004 stickered panel might work out too but i've already used one in a bathroom so i try to use something diffrenent now.

Works pretty good aside from the small gaps between the fingers. What size rod is that, I tried with a standard lightsaber size rod and there's a bit of space left on the sides.

I just want them to release more characters that have been in lego games without real figures, especially marvel ones. It annoys me that we dont have proper Spider-man Noir or Adam Warlock figures since they've already designed them for Lego Marvel Super Heroes. On the plus side Adam will probably come with GOTG3 sets and if we get Into the Spider-Verse sets we can get Spider-man Noir.

Sup /lg/, I asked you suggestions on how to clean my lego, and now I'm back with the results: leaving them in a water and dish soap bath didn't work that well. I've left them few hours with the dish soap, rinsed them, repeated another two times, and now while they appear mostly clean, most dirt is still attached to the pieces, especially between the studs. I thought about brushing them, but I've tried with an old toothbrush on a sacrificial piece and it looked like the lego plastic gets slightly scratched by the toothbrush, so I've ruled that option out.

What else can I try?

The set designer is Chris Giddens and I'm a big fan of his work, but this set seemed a little underwhelming to me. There's nothing really wrong with it, just didn't really have the WOW factor I was expecting. Maybe they should have let him make one big ship instead instead of a base and multiple smaller vehicles.

Started armybuilding my Polynesian Spooky Girls today when I unexpectedly encountered a box of HP CMFs at my closest Target, which never ever breaks street date, which I thought was Aug. 1.

Was very happy to find that their sweaters don't have an HP house patch. This is a great parts pack IMO because you get a spoopy hair, the classy sweater with tie, a nice bley skirt, an owl, and the new teenfig legs in unprinted black.

Also really great that it's the only one with a rubber piece that isn't a giant snake, so it's really easy to feel for.

Or you could just use Simple Green, which can remove decades-old spray paint without hurting the pieces. It's not dish soap. You literally soak the pieces in the Simple Green (no added water, just straight SG) for a couple days, then take them out and rinse them off. The SG can be reused over and over again.

There's a reason so many people recommend it specifically.

In my experience, oven/barbecue cleaner works almost the same. That's what I learned on my wargaming days. I've had couple of parts I painted with sharpie over a decade ago soaking at it over the weekend, and it worked like charm.

IT'S HERE! It's here and my god, it's beautiful! All my regret for having spent yet another big buck on klocki when I told myself I'd slow down a little by summer time has been washed away by how much of a joy this set is to build and look at! It really is a lovely thing, the design is far more gothic than any other castle Lego had made at the time and it's also surprising how the build is even somewhat modular which is really not something you'd expect from a retro set. If something, I wish they'd had toned down the yellow accents in favor of more dark grey, but the overall castle still looks really nice in person.

Thanks for convincing me to drop 90 bucks on this bad boi, guess I'll actually take a break for now and purposely avoid CrackLink and searches for Lego lots on any other websites to save up some goddamn money. Either way, it's been an enjoyable build and it will probably look gorgeous on display.

If you've got enough to dump on a large set and are into medieval stuff then then try and go for a castle. The Fright Knight's one from this thread could be a neat choice if you're into the edgy gothic aesthetics but, if you want something more traditional, the classic King's Castle (6080) or the Royal Knight's Castle (6090) are also excellent choices, the former in particular is probably one of the most recognizable Lego sets ever made. If you're into space then consider some of the late 80s - early 90s subthemes like Ice Planet, Futuron and M-Tron, there are tons of great sets in either of those in just about every price point (my personal favorite is the Mega Core Magnetizer, though I admittedly have a Mass Effect bias for Mako-like vehicles) or maybe even some of the earlier Star Wars sets like the X-Wing and the blue Tie Fighter which have a very unique retro design to them and are surprisingly reasonably priced nowadays. And lastly, consider some Paradisa if you're into the le meme vaporwave aesthetics, some sets like the Dolphin Point and Poolside Paradise just sort of scream classic Lego.

Oh, I am.
I'm gonna check out a bunch of these sets and some others from the 90s. There are so many sets I wanted in the 90s that I couldn't get because I was just a jobless little kid. I might need to dig out old catalogs for ideas.

Sort of, it's labelled as a fortress rather a castle but then again, a castle is basically just a large fortress, so you can assume this is a small castle.

i thought the minidolls looked lame for the longest time, but i got a friends set for the first time the other day and now they seem better to me, they seem mostly just as detailed and nice as regular minifigs
it still bothers me slightly that they can't really be aesthetically integrated into the rest of lego minifigures but i guess that's not really a big deal
this is the one i got, i might get the rest of the go kart ones as well

8880 would be the perfect set for a re-release. Not only is it nostalgic, It's so fundamentally different compared to modern Technic that it would make a good case study in how far we've come.
$140 seems like a reasonable price, since it's close to 10c PPP plus a small premium as it would be a nostalgia run. I'd even be okay with $150.

I just had a dream about a new summer wave of Lego with new sets for classic themes. M-Tron had a ton of small sets with the same color scheme, but the minifigs were different. I didn't see any actual magnets, but they were still cool. Castle was split up into a bunch of different factions with logos on the box and everything. Dragon Masters had one with an updated wizard and the classic dragon, but the box said "Dragon Faeries"- I guess it would have been a more magically-centered faction overall. Forestmen was now "Ancient Forest" with a fortress that had a harbor and the actual building had hanging vines and was made of stone like this set >>7070492

The store I saw them at in the dream was a Kay-Bee-like store in a mall. No actual name on it though and they were on a shelf that was at the very front of the store. I knew there were more sets I didn't see yet on the shelf, but those were the ones I actually looked at in the dream.

Opinions on the Voltron set? I built it last night. Solid as fuck. But there is partsforming on the Black Lion, which is frankly very disappointing. Not much articulation overall, but I find I don't mind too much. It's undoubtedly very well done overall.
