I made BL order yesterday that had parts I need right about now, from a store I've ordered multiple times before. I've gotten the parts next day several times. Now they've let me down and the order is only packed. Not to mention that if it doesn't get shipped and sorted tomorrow, I won't be getting it before Wednesday because in this shitty country they don't deliver post on Tuesdays.

This is a major bummer.

How come there's been countless X-Wings, Jedi Starfighters and other rehashes but they've never made a new version of the Bounty Hunter Pursuit?

Zam Wesell with modern printing would make for one sweet minifig. I think they should try and keep the silver mugs for nostalgic reason tough.

Also back to the Ghostbusters discussion, Fembusters has that "style" of comedy because it's improvised jokes by literally SNL actors, kinda like GB1. However if you watched the original cut and extended cut (which is genuinely the real movie) both have different improvised jokes.

Also yellow haired Egon from The Real Ghostbusters is who inspired the character Holtzman (even having somewhat sameish hair) and the movie having some elements of the cartoon.

With that said I wish there was a big brick built Staypuft or even a Gozer fig and rooftop scene would have been a good set. I got the Firehouse but for $350 it's kinda insulting how it doesn't even fit the Ecto-1 and consists of stickers. The updated hairpieces on the characters are very nice tho.

Seeing how Fembusters was a huge bomb I can't think of any real sets it could have had besides maybe the hotel basement or the manor.

It bums the fuck out of me that the ST has so many of the same designers but they either can't get their shit together this time (seems unlikely) or they're under heavy constraints to make as many boring boxy or carbon copied OT designs as possible.

I still have 75021 in the original box. One of my greatest clearance finds since I picked it up for about $35 bucks. I brought up two sets from clearance and the Gunship rang up full price still. The cashier was like, "Oh, but it was in the clearance bin? Let me fix that," and she set it for the exact same price despite the other set being smaller and originally cheaper. I did not fucking argue.

And years later I still haven't put it together because I still don't have the room. Every time I start to make room I get more sets that take that space up and never get to unbox my big shit. It's the eternal curse of the real life brickhead.

They used to have several Star Wars weapons, some are still available from resellers but I couldn't find any with the droid blaster. Definitely a shame, the only other Lego armaments manufacturer that makes a droid blaster is Little Arms Shop and it's not nearly as nice.

You didn't look hard enough. It's battle packs though, that anon was overstating the issue. I can imagine why it irks people who love to army build, though. Battle packs are less fun for that now if you don't have enough blasters to go around because of all the stud shooters.

Does it bother anyone else that the new clones and stormtroopers have printing everywhere except for on their arms? It's so obvious that's the next thing they're gonna standardize, which makes me want to skip these ones cause they'll just look different from the future ones.
Also, I think that they were better without leg printing.

26, watched prequels (one and two?) in the theaters as an impressionable kid.

Not even such a Starwars fag, but watched them back to back before the first new one came out. 1 was like, salvageable at best. It felt like a coherent movie for the most part but was annoying. Two was arguably the most bloated, frustrating and confusing space opera i've ever seen, truly a trainwreck of epic proportions. Three I hardly remember anything of except sheev laughing, one building that looked cool and the hilariously depression vader transformation.

A lot of people seemed to like the prequel ship designs but i wasn't really too fond of them thanks to the colours.
However, the podracing segments barring maybe Anakin were the only ACTUALLY good thing that came out of the prequels. I still thoroughly enjoy watching that part and all the racecar designs are 10/10 to me. Thank god Lucasarts understood that and made a 10/10 racegame out of it that straight up ignored all the other bullshit George flung at the wall.
Non Sebulba and Anakin podracer sets when?

Probably not the best line of discussion for these threads. The Star Wars give people issues beyond the usual, "OH GOD THE LICENSE SETS, THEY BURNSES USSES MY PRECIOUS GALIDOR!" That said what the Prequels lacked in quality storycraft it made up for in worlds building, which true to the thread did lend itself to many cool sets. If you're into that sort of thing. There were some stinkers among the heaps of gray bricks Lego gave us.

Been seeing a lot of Harry Potter minifig hanging displays that double with the Unikitty bags. Hard to actually find the Pottershit but Unikitty is pegwarming like crazy. I guess his magic isn't rubbing off on her, or is this just my dot on the map acting like this? I want to think the displays are Lego mandated given multiple stores have also had boxes of Unikitty's on the shelf too, but what the fuck do I know about how much say the company has in this kind of shit.

Didn't play a lot of starwars games, but i know lucasarts made some pretty great ones. (I remember rogue squadron being impressive)
I tried to put emphasis on how they decided not to include a greater, movie inspired dramatic narrative and instead made it a pretty grounded 'everyday' alien racing subculture setting. While you deal with exotic and strange aliens, you also have that universal/banal placing bets in the bar vibe.

ehhh, you can.
I've only ever had 2-3 orders where the used parts were filthy or tooth marked to hell. Of course it's still a good idea to wash them when you get them.

Yeah it bothers me a little bit. I'm sure that they won't standardize arm printing on Stormtroopers for a while though. If anything they might make a stormtrooper with arm printing exclusive to a UCS set like what they did with the pilot figs

I only saw Batman series 2 in store for a single day then it sold out and nobody in my area restocked. They did have plenty of Ninjago until fairly recently.

My anecdotal examples aren't great, though, because some stores around me stopped carrying the minifig bags probably because of assholes ripping them open and stealing the parts. My guess is they figured it wasn't worth the losses.

Well, me and a lot of other people enjoy the narrative of the prequels, the movies had bizarre decisions that hurt them, but they tell a good story.

But yes, let's not derail the thread any further, I'll just post the best set the prequels gave us for lulz. Sucks LEGO doesn't make huge sets like this anymore (for reasonable prices)

The stormtrooper bothers me a lot less for some reason. I don't know why, the clone just looks incomplete, but the stormtrooper looks bretty gud with the leg printing, even with the lack of arm printing.

This is also why I hate that modern LEGO is so detail-focused, if I was a kid now and wanted my parents to buy me some LEGO they'd be paying nearly the same money for a Tie Fighter than what they paid back then for a whole freaking Star Destroyer. I know you have to adjust for inflation and stuff but even adjusted for inflation fighters are more expensive now.

Episode 2 was my favorite of the bunch. Jango Fett vs Obi-Wan, Count Dooku, the asteroid battle, and the whole detective feel to finding Kamino was great. RotS is mostly good for memes and the action though. Episode I is useless besides the Darth Maul battle. All three movies pale in comparison to the classic original three of course though. The ones who grew up with them don't know any better and are more impressed with light shows and muh highly choreographed fights than character development and atmosphere.

But back to sets, AotC has a lot that could be made into good sets. The arena battle with brick-built monsters, the cloning facility, and the Zam chase remake would be easy.

Can't post the complete story here because mods always delete it but long story short: an anon in /tfg/ met a seller in person to pick up some Transformers from his house and, out of a sudden, the guy started physically advancing on him and suggesting oral in exchange for a MISB Overlord. The dude managed to get away in panic but ended up writing that he was now seriously considering going back because he really wanted the toy and could totally try doing just a BJ even though he wasn't "gay or anything". He was literally fucking harassed and yet his goddamn will to get a stupid Japanese toy somehow made him want to go back and withstand abuse.

TL;DR, /tfg/ is a shitshow and I'm glad to have migrated to /lg/ as my primary interest in toys.

Monster Fighters, any of the Creator sets that have released, Elves, and Atlantis are a few themes I would recommend for any set in those themes. Take a look around, you should be able to find a decent option in them for $30.

I actually got this set a while back. Had one as a kid, but never really had any interest to get it again, but I was already ordering from a store that had it, and it was like 2€ complete. I think the newer A-Wing is a lot better design wise, particularly the engines and the guns. It's pretty similar to the Rebels A-wing. But 20 euros better is hard to say.

Man I'm not a trainfag by any means, but that black/red one is still the absolute tits. The sharp industrial angles, the spyrius colourscheme. The packaging and folders I saw it on looked so cool.

I know how you feel. Best you can do with feeling is break them into three groups. Standing Unikitty, sitting Unikitty, and Puppycorn. With Puppycorn I've found the tail is a pain in the ass to actually locate but his ears are easier. After that you have 1 in 4 chance of getting any particular one. Sitting Unikitty is easy enough if you focus on the slopped piece but I've had less luck finding the 1x1 brick with single stud. Only two of those so they offer the best odds.

But you know what? Fuck it. Might as well pay slightly extra and get the exact figure you want. Or identify them above then take them hope, slit a very tiny hole in the bag, peek at the contents, and return what you don't want since 9 out of 10 customer service drones won't notice. Or just rip the damn things open like they apparently did in my store. Bits of Puppycorn everywhere. The Uniwars are brutal, man.

I loved those as a kid and wished I could make them too. It really bothered me as a kid that I didn't have an appropriate background or terrain for my toys like they had in their various catalog pictures.
Speaking of catalog backgrounds, I just remembered the blue-white background of early 90s playmobil sets. They were ominous but there was something about them.
Anyway, as a kid I'd spend much time looking at the little details and different stories going on in pictures like this. But the one thing that draws my interest the most is the lit tunnel.

Well not much new at the Brickuniverse convention, but I did have some fun building with the Bionicle table, and there were a few MOCs I enjoyed. If you look at a picture of kids playing with toys and the first thing that comes to mind is the colour of their skin and the intent of the creators of that picture rather than the building blocks wich said thread you post in are about, then you can fuck off. If you don't like it after two minutes it probably never gets better for you. In my opinion it's mostly inoffensive. Standard kiddy dreck that's a fifteen minute toy commercial. I'm mostly disappointed that it doesn't actually use bricks. One of the reasons I enjoyed Freemakers was how they integrated building into the whole Jedi nonsense. Plus they actually built the fucking garage to figure out how to model it in the show. I enjoy that level of crazy ass dedication while also being jealous of having that many delicious mandatory gray Star Wars bricks.

That's always been Unikitty's main theme since Cloud Cuckoo Land was built out of all the crazy and leftover bricks the dad in the movie didn't want so he gave them to his kid to go nuts with. Then the little shit still touches all his Dad's /toy/s. Moral of the story is forget super glueing your klocki, super glue your kid to a truck heading to Mexico.

Fortunately the show retains this aesthetic pretty well. Shows with the citizen designs especially. And weirdly the Unikitty show is apparently a show in-universe to the Lego Movie. I guess she caught her big break after the mystery of Where Are My Pants? was solved.

The original is a pain to work with because those rocket clips keep popping off. New version is definitely a lot easier to pose. I think the antenna makes it expressive which adds to the charm. Definitely more a fan of the current version, though. The jointed thrusters make it very easy to pose.

This hull separates from the deck. Unfortunately the deck piece is the only piece that I know of that connects to the hull, so your build would have to just rest inside of it.

I don't exactly which hull he posted, but I've never seen one that is "designed" to have builds inside of it. I've seen the ones designed to be motorized, but most other hulls seem to be plain on the inside, no studs on the floor or on the edges to build off of.

That single rule completely ruins the event, because instead of getting people to express their creativity to the fullest what you end up with is the majority of builds made end up being long thin spaceships in a desperate attempt to make the 100 stud minimum.

Pic related. My early entry for shiptember. As you can see, this is quite a heavy investment in parts, coming in at a whopping total of 9. You'll notice I was quite ambitious with this one and really stretched out the size of the build being 2 studs wide, 3 plates high and 100 studs long long. The design was heavily inspired by the color red and also being an uncreative asshole. Feel free to suck my dick and tell me how amazing I am now. Also I'm selling the instructions online for $600, if anyone's interested leave me you're email and I'll get back to you.

Yes. For every good deal you find on eBay there's a hundred "RARE VINTAGE LEGOS" which is just a red 2x4 for 5 dollars plus shipping as well as plenty of knockoffs.
If you want bulk, keep an eye on your local stuff, craigslist, facebook groups, yard sales etc.
Otherwise Bricklink is amazing and will serve all your needs.

I own 7 modulars myself and I love them all. I think Detective's Office or Parisian Restaurant is a good starter, unless you wanna go big, go for the Assembly Square.
Creator sets are great, as well as movie sets, especially Lego Movie and Ninjago Movie, both themes have given us some amazing sets.

The monthly build events every single year in the Lego community were a mistake.
It was innocent and simple when it started out with NoVVember, but then they tried to make a meme month for every single month and it got really annoying and you got really tired of seeing the same shit every year on a seasonal basis.
I think Shiptember is the worst one, because I'd rather have someone build a SHIP because they genuinely want to and to take their time, instead of trying to force out a 100 stud monstrosity just for le epik community meme challenge.

they actually want you to start during on Sep 1st, post WIP pics of your progress and finish before the month is over. For people going to school, they let you start earlier, but you still gotta finish in one month from your start
someone could probably cheat and build the whole thing way before September and upload the wip shots during the month of September, but that's only if you really care about winning some meme challenge

In honesty, two things
I've never even heard of the other theme months so SHIPtember must be pretty successful in terms of excitement, enthusiasm and passion relatively speaking. Two, those last assumptions. I think they're much more the driving force behind SHIP builds in general than any outside factor. Who didn't want to build a fuckhuge spaceship from Lego as a kid? I'd say it applied to many if not most. And yes parts count does serve as a barrier to entry, but really smaller ships while great generate different feelings. I don't mind that not all ships aren't made equal. Each builder has their own style, some are just learning how to build better and yes parts availability will be factor. But when has that not applied to physical LEGO builds? What it doesn't have to be is a restriction, and instead it can be an opportunity to find solutions. Its one of the many gratifying aspects to building a SHIP. I'm sorry if you need the build to be for your benefit.

We don't have Lego stores in my country. So this one absolute madman recreated on his own. Prices are way better than the bigger toy chains in my city too. Sadly I live too far away to warrant a trip. I had to go there twice to check a church for arthistory studies and accidentaly found it. It gave me a good laugh since this older guy made a giant replica of said church on display there.

The plastic quality in general took a nosedive.
Just recently I took a bunch of a few years old sets back out of storage and was greeted by this.
This is just a detail part, not one that stands under tons of stress or anything, is relatively thick and also made from softer plastic so I have no fucking clue how this can happen outside of some sort of chemical breakdown.
Interestingly it's just the gold ones while the gunmetal and red ones are still intact.

Google "gold plastic syndrome". It mostly affects Transformers and GI Joes, but any toy made with that specific type of plastic can spontaneously explode into a cloud of gold dust. It's one of the reasons why modern Lego pieces are molded with tan plastic and then painted gold instead of being molded in gold plastic.

In defence of the company, the size of the castle already makes it one of the largest sets Lego has released.

If you want a full realised lego Hogwarts creation, it'll realistically need to be an MOC. It would be interesting if Lego released a 1500$ Hogwarts set, but I don't think they'd turn a profit.
