Bonecrusher looks nice, but both Jetfire and Megatron are pretty disappointing, at least from this first look.

Megs in particular looks worse than his original toy.

At least we get a bunch of new molds for Black Mamba to improve on.

Looks like they still haven't sorted out the combined mode shoulder pad proportions, meaning these bots were designed with alt modes and robot forms first, combined mode separately, good for me less money to spend

So Studio Series Year 1 Wave 4 due at the end of this year/early next year, and then Year 2 Wave 1 starts with 2 leaders: DOTM Megatron and Jetfire.

Honestly, if Studio Series all had ankle tilts from Deluxe to Leader, I would have bought all them, just like I intend to with WFC.

Generations line have decent transformations, but they have always missed some essential joints for posing. WFC is the first line to have standardised articulation across the board.

No idea, but so far, that underslung gun the combined mode has does not appear to work with the first version, since the Movie 1 Prime has a tab that seems to be for attaching that weapon.

I remember taking one look at that giant box on the shelf, seeing that there were no individual modes, and promptly putting it out of my mind.
The tiny Legends one was cooler, though I wish I'd been able to find the regular colors instead of pic related. Still like 'em though.

Warden's style could unironically save ROTF Devastator.
The legs and mid torso are easy enough, the guy forming the lower torso has never been made above legends class but he could either be set aside to inflate Demolishor's size or be full of ratchets to keep him from flopping, arms can just be stuck from the back of the vehicle mode. The hardest one might be Mixmaster but Warden could just turn the truck's nose inside out to form the head.

All wardens done is dumb down everything to levels that should never of been found in the first place & skimp on paint while also giving us the shitiest of stickers that make the ones on gunpla world class.

You either try to complete your collection from Energon, Cybertron, and the few good figures from Classics (Bumblebee???) or acknowledge that Hasbro's releases have more paint because you actually need more paint to get the G1 toy's looks as opposed to Takara's unpainted for accuracy approach.

Like I said, I like it. The combined mode is mostly a statue but the arms can move a little, mostly there just for display but the individual modes are fun and it's nice to have a color-coordinated team.

As silly as Baystator looks, the Legends version is still one of the best official combiner figures ever from a technical standpoint.
It's a fully-fledged 7 robot combiner team that are all very unique, and doesn't have any combiner kibble to keep track of. With the exception of Mixmaster and arguably Rampage, none of the components even suffer for the combined mode. For how much he does, he still has some decent articulation. You can get a surprising amount of mileage out of his ab crunch, knee, and ankle joints for action poses, despite not having hips beyond a thigh swivel.
At the time, Legends dudes were about $7, so a box set of 7 being $50 is right in line. I agree that $250 is nutty, though.

Question. These guys are named after companies that make Macross toys. Like Arcadia, Takato(ku) etc. So my theory is, they're based on Jetfire toys. Do you guys think this is accurate? If not, any better guesses? Animated Jetfire's goggles are purple on the toy innit?

Looks like he might share some engineering with pic related.
Given how simple/chunky they look I'd be inclined to say they combine, but at the same time I'm not seeing any obvious combiner bits so far.
