Except that every toy retailer has trimmed their starwars section back from a full aisle to maybe 1/3 or 1/4 of an aisle, and if you don't live in the US, the 6" 'adult' line is all full-priced zuvios and the occasional jyn.

That's now. In three years from now, after the third movie, it'll probably be worse. I mean, honestly, main movies aside, the spin offs were all cancelled, the video game was so pay-to-play it was universally poorly received, and the tv show will be unlikely to single-handedly save the franchise.

What do they have left to tweak? Another iconic star wars vehicle with different legs or orange doors or a square satellite dish to show it's different and new?

Even if you're not tired of grey boxes, I just want some actual fun alien designs in lego again, instead of, the... "diversity" of another short, brown-skinned and slanty eyed alien from the "we're diversifying star wars guys so it's not racist" team.

Which used to bother me, but at this point, it's Lego Batman who completed my cartoon justice league and single-handedly brought us every superfriend except samurai in minifigure from.

I just hope Lego Justice League will be a thing so I can finish my legion of doom - it's not like the DCU will ever stop sucking and doing darkness (no parents) versions of everything because the usual supervillains are too wacky and colouful, again, lego batman style.

This is why I've avoided it for so long. This is how I've ended up with lego sets I didn't care about just for the one fig (or hair / torso / face) I liked.

That mech is actually a Lext Luthor (luther?) mech. Im currently modding it into Joker's mech.
I really need smiling lips from this set but its sold out everywhere.

Spent the afternoon building some Jedi starfighters! Yoda's has a rad, aggressive design with the TIE Interceptor-ish wings and and the build was pretty neat. I'm especially impressed with Anakin's, though.

For a sub-$20 MSRP set, Anakin's starfighter looks fantastic. It has some neat features like retractable landing gear and a spot to store his lightsaber, nearly as many pieces as Yoda's fighter while having a lower MSRP, and the final build has much more presence than Yoda's more compact fighter.

Is it an official Disney Clone Wars series that I don't know about? Because they can't do it otherwise.

Because all the OT and prequel movies designs are off limits unless they're tweaked for any toyline, and the expanded universe stuff (non-disney tv show and books) is also considered too obscure for official sets.

Honestly, I'm surprised they were able to finish the bounty hunters in minifig form. Aayla secura coming back in a 30 dollar set was a literal miracle.

Disney doesn't want any classic ship/alien designs in their franchise going forward, because those belong to Lucas. They have to make "their version", which, sadly...

I don't know about the fans but I'm certainly not enticed. Hammerguy has a few neat pieces and helmet I could use for my mixel build, plus a pair of nice shoulderpads I could use in bonkle mocs but he isn't worth the money. I also had my eye on the cyborg ninja but he looks terrible.

FYI, all parties settled out of court. Lego was awarded an undisclosed amount. Mega and the other infringing companies were ordered to immediately halt production on the offending sets. Any unsold sets were supposed to be destroyed, but I found a number of the Mega sets at Big Lots.

What always bugged me about the whole story was how Mega willingly opened themselves to the lawsuit by agreeing to produce what was an exclusive theme for Walmart. They already had a couple of themes to compete against Lego Friends in Barbie and Monster High, but then they made a line of building sets to essentially compete against themselves. This lawsuit is probably what precipitated Mattel's acquisition of Mega Bloks.

Finally decided to get picrelated. Only 3 left in stores.
I doubt i will get a chance to buy a klocki T-rex anytime soon. I dont think there will be a third JW movie with lego line or any regular original Dinosaur line.
This set is pretty much the ONLY cheaper option to get T-rex

Have you seen the SW lineup for next year? Most of the sets are from the OT and Prequels.

Also, I was referring to the Clone Wars TV show (which Disney approved for another season). LEGO made quite a few sets based off the show during it's run, but it had these god aweful faces. If LEGO re-released some of those sets or even made new sets based off the show, but in their traditional style, then I have no doubt they'd sell.

In short, yes. They were legally ordered to stop producing them. Anything found online today is being sold "New"by third-party resellers.

That was the problem. Lego was arguing that the products were *too* similar. They may not have liked Mega Bloks trying to compete with Barbie and Monster High, but the minidolls in those themes were mechanically and aesthetically distinct from Lego minidolls. The minidolls in Walmart's "My Life As..." theme were deliberately made to evoke Lego Friends minidolls in scale, function and appearance. That was sufficient grounds for Lego to bring suit against Mega.

As always, LDD doesn't have certain new parts so the minifig brackets on the waist that hold the cheese slopes have to be the actual 1x1 brackets and all the placeholder weapons have to be replaced with the Ninjago weapon set ones.

Sorry anon, I disagree. Brickbuilt looks great at certain scales, but I like using moulded animals at minifig scale and parts of them (mainly heads) in other builds like dinos in power armour.

Also for better photos, get more light and a support for your camera rather than shooting free hand. Most important's more light though, aimed away from whatever you're photographing so it's lit by scattered rather than direct light.

and maybe I'm nostalgiafagging hard but Classic Space really engaged the imagination, better than any other theme. Holup, am I the megafag? I've said a couple times that megafigs>legofigs because they have better articulation, proportions and sculpted detail. That's pretty much it though. Their sets are less innovative, their plastic is lower quality, and their homegrown ips are a joke.
The more detailed LEGO's prints become, the more I wish they were sculpted detail instead. Mega-style Nexo figs from the first year would had been Beautiful with capital B.

Oh man. The benny squad pack was all sold out in the online lego store otherwise I would have gotten one (or two). That little vehicle is perfect and genuinely connects up very old memories/neurons in my brain of when I was a kid, with my first few lego sets, which were space sets (I had a small lego space vehicle, and a while after I got the solar explorer, granted I disliked and still dislike the plastic sheet thing, but everything else was decent (too much printing on the cabin canopy) but the little vehicle and the other technological build were awesome

I still have to get around to building so many mocs I've written about. I still need to start my cyborganic town/city... and build a powered monorail, and also build the hovertank grand, now I also plan to modify the minicooper and give it some outlandish engine changes and try and make it look a bit madmax'ish. The simplicity has its charm and really, with sufficiently advanced technology such a look would be 'realistic' (Lego stylization not withstanding, or who knows) but I can't say that I like the look of it more than the scenes possible with 'Space Shuttle Explorer', especially the mini-base. The more complex look is equally charming for me.

As a side note, I really love creator sets where if you had all three builds in one scene they'd fit together nicely. I should get on that for that set, though, it'd be a fairly spacious display no matter what.

No, I picked it out because my dad was big into motorcycles (he still is) and I thought it was awesome. I vroomed the shit out of it as a kid, and now I've got a collection of classic motorbikes in all the colors.

I used to have about 5000 shares in Disney (given to me when i was little never bought them myself) and got a letter from Disney asking my opinion on how they were handling the star wars brand in the investors package I got once a year. I wrote a short letter explaining how I didnt like the direction the franchise was heading and that the people heading it should be changed.

To my complete astonishment I actually got a reply back, not some pre written canned response but a real well written letter thanking me for the feedback and that the sentiment was shared by other share holders.

I am not sure if the change is coming anytime soon but if the share holders arent happy disney corporate wont be happy.

Sorry, I build everything freehand. Other than the two exhaust pipes it's all pretty common pieces. If you see a section you really like I can tell you how it's built.

That's actually two separate stacks. Everything above the curved gap is part of the detachable roof.

ok I'm not much of a MOC-er but this evening I challenged myself to rebuild something out of only the parts in a single set to try it out

so here's my first attempt, 60181 Forest Tractor rebuilt into a logging mech of some kind. This only uses pieces from the set.

I gotta say I was really scraping the bottom of the barrel there towards the end, especially building the saw arm

Damn, I might consider buying spinners this year. Those are some really nice pieces, including the tornado molds. I only hope that the 2x2 round tiles are printed and not stickers.

While I loved the batman wave for the superfriends bonus, it's been two movie tie ins, harry potter movie tie in, and the costume set. We haven't gotten a new something for everyone "lego odds and ends" wave in a while. The last actual random generic mish-mash set was series 17 (may 2017) which was a year and a half ago.

The lego movie is the chance for Lego to go apeshit with their choices, cram in stuff that could never and would never see the light of day as a set, especially since it's space and mad-max themed. Plus there's 20 figs, it's a huge wave.

But disappointingly, they made very strange choices here:
4 of them are wizard of oz. I need that dorothy hairpiece, but they're out of place.
5 of them are minor variations of the main characters that we'll already have multiples of from buying sets. Except for the bad guy minidoll, which is trapped in the expensive sets.
3 of them are costumes... after a themed set with 16 costumes. Normally we get 1 per wave... we needed 3 so soon?
4 are a pastel pop singer themed, which I'm sure will make sense after the movie, but aren't terribly re-usable, and they could have been some kind of small set like benny's space crew. I mean, wyldstyle is different enough from her mad max costume, that's cool, but the other three?
1 for President business as normal golf fig kinda works, as there's usually a sports figure per wave too.
Which leaves the last 3 for the mad max, crazy stuff... and sure enough, battle crazy cat lady, mohawk cat, vampire hunter lincoln, and lederhosen swamp creature are great, out there, not super reusable but certainly has some potential.

Personally, besides wyldstyle's arrows/hood, none of these figures have amazing new accessories or prints or hairpieces that I'll desperately need multiples of for mocs. Even harry potter fleshies had me buying multiples of characters I didn't care about for odd pieces or torso prints.

Hope the surprise in may isn't "licensed set".

Woo, my Brick Bank is now "In Warehouse" after being backordered since Dec 8. Can't wait to build that, it'll complete my modular set (well, for what I want/what I can fit. I'll probably add more later when I get a better place)

Temporary until I can put my brick bank in that corner, then everything will be nice and snug on my warddrobe

I also have LEDs in half of them, and the LEDs for my brick bank ready, but it's too hard to get a good picture that doesn't look like garbage. Looks awesome though.

I love the Hovertank (SW needs more land vehicles) but it irks me how its side-cannons are basically fucking useless if anyone goes around it. Also the in-universe model not having an MG by the hatch is a bit dumbfounding

Anyway it's a pretty cool set, you'll wanna rework the commander's hatch though because as it is you can't have a minifig standing inside of it and using the gun at the same time. Looks great when done properly

And so it I came to pass: my builds will be all the crap I already know, from G.I. Joe to Masters of the Universe to Thundercats to the never ending limits of everything I've ever seen. Hell these TLM2 sets are perfect for that one show set during the apocalypse with the truck that was secretly a helicopter, or ST:TNG or Earth Star Voyager....the possibilities became endless in an instant. All because of commercial that aired decades before some of you were born. I mean damn Pirates of Darkwater, Short Circuit, Captain N, Final Fantasy, Terminator, Police Academy, GoBots. Fucking A! Yeah 2019 is where it's at!
