Hey guys, I just need some guidance. I've loved Lego for years, got out of it for a time, but broke out of my dark ages a few years back. Now, I feel like I'm falling out again. I still love it, but I haven't MOCed anything in ages. Anytime I want to, I look at the heaps of pieces I have and shy away because I don't want to deal with sorting through that shit and wasting time. I hardly want to buy sets now because I feel like I'll never build anything even though I want to. Anyone ever felt like this? I would love to just break out and really build again but it's hard.

cute, I've been meaning to rebuild one of my childhood mocs as well. It was a grey wedge shape with the little communications satelite from the snowspeeder set (4500) on the back. And the wedge was three plates high so that you could pull it apart and there was a printed plate inside representing the engine

I just don't get how the castle thing could ever be considered, it's genuinely bad. Just look at how the trees are attached. It looks ugly and is unstable. They could have easily been incorporated into the ground. It's actually a prime example for how not to build lego environments. You can clearly see that the objects in this build were designed as stand alones first and then just dropped somewhere on the base instead of the moc "growing" together. It's most obvious with the trees, but also with the rocks.

I had hand me down castle and space police stuff growing up as well as some ice planet and aqua sharks. Nexo knights brought me out of dark ages when I saw an ultimate macy figure while at a TRU buying a gift for a friend's child's birthday party. Especially loved the brick build mace and translucent red armor and visor with plumage.

I really liked the brick built monsters in season 1. I can see why fans that have been around since ninjago, and through chima would be bored with the vehicles, but they were interesting enough for me. Fortrex was pretty damn amazing.

Season 2 I loved the battle suits, and enemy figs (bricks with arms included) but the brick built stone monster vehicles (3 brothers, heligoyle) were kinda weak. Drop bot dragon was redemption for the whole season. Best value set I've seen to date. I think I have 4. I keep meaning to MoC up a fancy bigger one.

Season 3 I loved every set, even the shitty ones. I think they were just over priced. My guess is lego planned for 2 waves and just took the "best of" and spread out the price points. Unfortunately they didn't really have side builds to make up for the prices on Axl's Rolling Arsenal and Aaron's Another Goddamn Helicopter. The new armors, shield and helmet were exactly what I wanted from a final wave.

Some day I will make a green knight faction out of all the duplicate Aarons. I also want to do something with the giant globlins from beastmaster's chariot since I got a 2nd one on super discount from a closing down mom and pop toy store.

What if I told you that the reason why lego sets come with extra pieces is because it's cheaper to use weighing machines to weigh lego sets that are less precise than it is to use weighing machines that are incredibly precise.

I'd tell you that I used to believe that rumor as well, until I heard from someone who works for the company that said it's just because it's easier to include multiples of the tiny parts that are likely to be lost than to deal with numerous calls from people who claim their set was missing pieces when it's just that they dropped/lost the pieces.

Nexo knights had some really useful parts and great minifigs, including some generic demon boys for sinful fun. They also had some great builds too, like the berserker bomber. I typically break down any sets I buy but that's the first one I bought that I kept in tact because the design is so great. I regret skipping out on the king's mech though.

Then it seems unlikely that the weighing machines would be off by that exact amount every time. If the machines were less precise on purpose, there would be different amounts of extra pieces on boxes of the same set.

This is one of those rumors like "Lego puts black marks on minifig torso necks to increase friction" when it's actually so the electric eye can determine if the torso is facing the correct direction when it rolls by on the conveyer belt. If it sees the mark, it shoots out a puff of air that knocks the torso back into the bin to be fished out later. Eventually through random tumbling all the torsos are fished out in the correct orientation.

Less precision = less likely to tell if the right amount of pieces are there. It wouldn't tell if one set has 1 more piece than another. This would allow for one box to have an extra piece than the other box. This would have likely happen at least once across thousands of the same set.

hmm the way I thought of it was that they simply used less precise weighing machines which meant they added extra pieces (specific pieces) to each set which then meant the entire set had a specific weight which could be weighed by these cheaper machines and if a set didn't match this weight then they knew it was incomplete or wrong in some way.

For the last few threads we've had a poster who reacts to the thread reaching 310 posts (the limit at which time the thread will no longer rise to the top of the board when posted in) by spamming one image per minute until the thread hits 150 images (the image limit for the thread) in order to force everyone to move to the new thread. This particular thread is doubly spammy because someone is filling it up with stock set photos.

This is annoying because the point of the thread is to discuss Lego, not to fill up the thread as fast as possible with images we've all seen before.

Posted right as the old thread was ending so reposting here

I was very enthralled by anon's dream description and accompanying drawings, and the mocs the other anons posted, and it got me thinking about some possible ideas for this setting. Greentext ideas as follows:

>The planet/region of space where the City astronauts crash-landed is called The N-Zone (which phonetically sounds like The End Zone, which is the term for the goal area in some sports)

>The sport itself is called Mashball, and the mashball is a large (6- or 8-stud diameter) spheroid with a power source inside that all teams covet

>The N-Zone is a prison-planet and the various factions are organized gangs who band together for mutual support

>The overseers of the N-Zone drop mashballs onto the planet like energy rations

>Winning a mashball means your team/gang will have enough power to recharge their mechs/ run their toasters/ etc. until it's depleted

>The overseers use camera drones to record the mashball conflicts for their audience and intentionally drop fewer than needed to make the teams fight over them

So, since I've finished my green mech for lloyd, I figured I would go on and try working on Cole's. This one is based on Cole's part of the Thunder Raider set. I really like the idea of having sand green as the secondary color so I've integrated it into the final color scheme.I also wanted to have hands integrated into the forearm like a Medabot, since the weapons are pretty much what the arms are used for in the original set. Any thought, /lg/ ?

I have some ideas for the design of the mashball itself in the form of a polybag, but I'd like to hear from the anon who dreamt it up and see if he had any specific ideas for what it looks like.

Of course, the stranded City astronauts are the big underdogs, because they not only have to win enough to keep their jury-rigged mechs that used to be wrecked spacecraft operational, but on top of that they're trying to find a way to escape. I figure by the third season they'll have convinced enough of the other gang-teams to join together and make a big mashup spaceship.

If it's not too big a JW hydrosphere could be a neat ball with potential to put different attribute changing mcmuffins inside and have them visible. Though a way to change the texture or shape of the ball would be even better
