Not directly, but I looked up the submarine tag on Brickset before building and most of Lego's submarines are yellow with a round canopy, two grabby arms and two tanks at the bottom.
The colour scheme is lifted from the Aquanauts, I pass of being too lazy to come up with colour schemes as homages. (Also using colour schemes from old themes is useful because they mostly consist of primary colours with a large pool of available pieces)

I think there are several things to consider. First of all, back when the OW deal was (probably) made, the game was on a huge upswing, with millions of players and lots of media coverage. WoW, on the other hand, had already peaked and stagnated, if not outright on decline. (Which it clearly is NOW, but this was a couple of years ago.)

Secondly, OW is hugely popular among kids - and that's obviously Lego's core demo too. But what kind of people play WoW (anymore)? The old farts, and maybe some teens and 20-somethings? Is this realistically a market they can tap into?

Thirdly, I think the pseudo-scifi setting of OW translates fantastically into lego, the same way Star Wars does. But how popular were the LOTR legos, back in the day? (This is an honest question, because I have no idea. I wasn't "in the scene" back then.) Just generally speaking I feel that "natural" settings (like forests and whatnot) have never been a good fit for lego, which by design is... rather blocky.

Fair enough, Mega had insanely good success with Halo. That one's a Destiny set; a great looking one at that and... Destiny bombed. Seems no one will buy good Mega Bloks /v/ sets as long as the game itself isn't so good.

Either way, Lego pandering to the /v/ crowd was overdue. Maybe good will come out of it or maybe it'll see Lego spiral further down a path of lazy license grabs.

The new built up guns they introduced for Overwatch look like ass honestly. Admittedly, the very first Mega Bloks Halo sets way back in 2008 weren't stellar either but at least the figures were on point.

i ordered the boxing glove piece from bricklink because i wanted to use it as one of Joker's weapons but... the minifig-hand-pin is way too thin to fit into any of these holes of peices on the left.

Hello /lg/, I'm new and never posted to /toy/ before, so I apologize if the answer to this question is obvious.

I have a whole bunch of nearly- or fully-completed, decent condition Lego kits, mostly Star Wars theme, from 7 to 12 years ago, collecting dust. I want to sell them, but I'm wary about listing them all individually on Ebay since they might easily break in transit, I'd lose 10% in Ebay fees, it'll take a damn long time to take pictures, etc.. What's the best way to sell them? Is there a site where people are willing to buy a whole bunch in bulk? I'm in Vermont; I wouldn't mind piling them all in boxes in my truck and driving to somebody within 5 hours of me.

They are known as "Bifrost Machines"

Jumpers only offset by half a stud, putting a jumper on another jumper just realligns the studs as if there were no jumpers. Not exactly heavy-duty Lego math.

oh any math is heavy duty math for me.
but i do know that jumpers function that way - there's other pieces that have different offsets, and I mess about with them and jumpers and try to come up with stuff.
things like brackets, they have a different offset in comparison to other pieces... if you imagine the bracket having two aprts to it, one part is the 'lock' where it attaches to typical pieces, then the other part of it is the 'dock' where other pieces can be attached, the dock's plastic foundation is slimmer than a typical brick - i've been experimenting with that a bit.
other pieces which are similar are the modified 1 stud brick pieces, see here>>7372977 the piece next to the golden telescope, the piece that is resting on it's side, that's the piece i'm talking about, you see the 'lip' it has, that gives it odd geometry when used in certain ways.

I think all the "legal" techniques have been accounted for. One thing I don't quite understand is why does lego only put things at angles with technic hinging or hinge pieces? Why don't they rotate plates and bricks on 1x1 pieces for instance? Is this a technique that, while not illegal, they consider to be lame and unprofessional looking?

I mean that you hinge things on 1x1 pieces. Any plate or brick attached to a single 1x1 brick or plate is able to rotate freely. Personally I find this technique pretty lame but I saw JANG use it in his YTMWTB videos. I don't believe Lego genrally uses this technique.

What would the sets be? Most of the raid sets would have to be massive or they'd look cheap. I haven't bought any Lego sets in a while but I'd buy a nice Frozen Throne or Karazhan. Maybe they could make a big Naxxramas set similar to the Death Star sets

They do. You're just looking at the sets that are designed for kids age 7-12. The 16+ Creator sets use more advanced techniques that require more fine motor control.

Lego was focusing on Knights Kingdom II in 2004 and now Nexoknights in 2017 for it's fantasy lines.

They always try to sell their own product lines before licensed themes because that offers themselves and the consumer a much better value.

Depends on where you live and how many rare parts are in the build. Say 2 weeks shipping per order but they're all going to arrive staggered which is annoying as fuck.

Don't order from big German stores unless nobody else has the part, they're fucking expensive and often have convoluted store terms.

Read the store terms. Most sellers are ezpz, just avoid the weird/complicated ones.

Stores with Paypal(onsite) are way less tedious to order from.

I've never lost an order in over 190, and I've gotten more extra parts than had parts missing, Bricklink is pretty safe.

Just use a pocket knife. Slip the tip of the blade under a corner and very VERY slowly work it off. The adhesive they use is pretty good. I did that when I put the grill sticker on upside down on my Bugatti. Over a year later sticker is still on solidly and not pealing or anything.

I'd recommend picking up one of the Creator Expert cars. They teach you heaps of techniques and have useful parts for Mocs.

The F40 is retired and overpriced now but it'd be worth reading the instructions at least.

I don't remember a whole lot of the process, but there's a few key things.

Lego wheels are the biggest roadblock to scale cars - pick whatever but that's what will lock you into a scale, in this case 14-wide.

Decide whether you're going to build the windows or just the pillars - transparent windows are a pain in the butt.

Headlight shaping is typically what makes or breaks the final model, a lot of the time you have to deal with fitting them around the front wheel wells - double tricky if you want steering.

Google blueprints for the car and get the wheels spaced right - I had to adjust the 240 a few times, and getting the door edges to work if they're really close to the rear wells is annoying.

wtf it's a $350 set. I looked it up on bricklink and there is a seller in U.S. selling new for $305 "brand new don't have space for it". I assume shipping will get that pretty close to MSRP and it could be a scam, but don't buy on e-bay ever. You can get the set without figs for cheap on brick link and use the rest of your $600 to over pay for the figs later.

The Lando Calrissian figure is coming out in the anniversary sets as a exact remake. A $40 snowspeeder set.

Use to be worth $150 with the cape in perfect shape. Not sure what it'll fetch now that the market will be flooded with them. They will have some small differences but nothing notable.

The only production differences are likely to be the logo on the back and the cape material / length. They changed that sometime around the early 2000s. Unnoticeable to the average person, especially since the cape covers the logo.

Meant early 2010s on the capes. Looking at Bricklink it looks like there's actually 4 different variants of cape fabric including the old style that's still produced in some sets. I'm not up on all the changes as I just collect vintage stuff but the cape might be exactly the same. Feel sorry for the people that shelled out $100 or more for it.

And yeah, exact isn't the right word. But it is a accurate re-release. And a bold one too. That was one of the most valuable SW figs.

Try "head piece losing its printing before you even take it out of the packaging"

I bought two of these, and all eight heads were terribly printed. I called Lego and got replacement heads for the first box, but never got around to calling for replacements on the second. The replacement printing was good quality (the printing is dark green, not black, which is supposed to convey that they're unprinted molded plastic army men) but the originals that came with the set were terribly faded.

I visited a local store specializing in legos today, and they didn't have any of the Overwatch sets. The guy at the counter then told me that those are only coming out officially this summer in my country, and any stores that carry them currently, do so with special deals.

I must admit that I'm slightly confused with all of this. I mainly hunt deals, and it's odd that many stores can offer such different prices. For example, Lego.com is trying to sell the biggest OW set for 110 euros, while a local megastore has it listed at 84 euros. That's a big difference.

What did you order anon? The only time an Aliexpress order I made returned to sender was for a Mega bloks Destiny set. I suspect the seller did not want to deliver it for the 12 Aud I bought it for after he realized shit was worth at least 25 Aud each. Still got it for 15 and ordered 5 more though, one of the greatest things I've seen and bought there.

I hope my assorted minidolls do come and that the darkie and maledoll count is minimal. It sucks how buying loose minidolls locally cost 6-12 aud.

I ordered two packages, one was a couple of bootleg CMF knights and the other was some series 1 zombies and series 14 ghosts. Both ordered at the same time, but only the knights made their way here. I tried to chalk it down to just being the busy holiday season but if my first lot got here, I don't see why my others didn't, guess I'll never know.

I recently realized I've been casually assembling a lot of businesspeople. There's a lot of good options, in my opinion. If you want a regular black suit, pic related is good, or the one shown in >>7376245 with the arms swapped out for black ones, if you don't mind the blue highlights. The Red Hood CMF also has a nice tux with a purple vest underneath.
The two pinstripe ones already posted are really nice, but afaik also pretty expensive.
If you're after some more business casual there's the dark blue blazer torso that's been around since world city, or if you want some more standout colours you can use the DO's detective's torso or the Eraser CMF's torso.

Also an honorary mention to this guy. Simple and clean print with a tiny police badge pin and you get a robot head with shades.
I've also found a nice tan casual suit but I can't remember where it's from, think it's some capeshit.

They vary, if you're looking into getting some, I suggest buying multiple, sometimes they get bad seams or injection errors, but sometimes it doesn't turn out that way. I once got 4 minotaurs all without any kind of problem.

Kinda simple if you're familiar with plamo, you just need an x-acto knife, a fine-tip marker, some sandpaper (high-grit) and a lot of patience

Typically parts get new numbers due to a mold change (or a plastic change, which you'll see sometimes with transparent parts). I've never had problems with getting them to show up in bricklink search except when they're in a set that's new and hasn't been inventoried properly.
