Have to say I was very surprised by how neat the new Jurassic World-sets look like, especially after the disappointing sets last year.

The smallest set has a really goodlooking, more properly-sized Dilophosaur aswell as a neat little shop.

We get a really nice Baryonyx that uses the Indoraptor body nicely (shame about the raptor feet but what can you do)

We also finally get a re-print of the Triceratops, and most importantly a really nice T-Rex with new print that fights a fucking T-REX MECH with the same color scheme as the original Jurassic Park cars.

So with the revelation that we are getting a 20th anniversary Slave 1 which comes with multiple new exclusive figures and well a Slave 1 that is more minifigure proportional I figured I’d spend my 5 dollars on Ebay bucks towards the UCS Bobba since I’m skipping the UCS Slave 1 for the newer one

The challenge is to build a kickass automobile of any sort. From a road legal pickup truck to a track prepared race car, it does not matter, just make an auto to the best of your abilities. Here are the rules.

>must be minifig scale (4-8 studs wide)
>must post with email and timestamp
>can be any type of automobile (i.e. tow-truck, golf cart, F1 car, etc.)
>only LEGO bricks must be used, no chink knock-offs
>Reply to this post with a picture of your build

Do intermittent fasting. It's super healthy for you and you get used to only eating twice a day fast. It's also timesaving and nice to not havin to eat breakfast.

If you want to go as cheap as possible but still healthy I would suggest buying a 5lb bag of rice, then buying some kidney beans to mix in with the rice as you cook it then for protein I'd go with stuff like Tuna or minced meat. ANd make sure to get some vitamins so you don't get some deficency (since fruits/veggies are kinda expensive)

For flavour you can get like some ketchup or sriacha

I did this shit for two months (had to cut back on everything due to buying a car and then having to spend about 1.5k on fixing the thing)

You made the right choice in deciding to sort by category; for now, sort your pieces into groups and then later when/if you get more of a certain kind you can start to subdivide.

I would recommend starting by sorting out all your bricks and plates, because those are the easiest. After that, just start putting everything into a few big piles (bars, clips, etc.) and then work from there.

Sort into big categories like "Plates". that's what I did and as my collection expanded it was easy to divide into 1x plates, round plates as it got too big. I prefer to sort 1 big pile at a time, but it's just personal preference, no logic.

Criteria as such are size, level of detail, internal space, architectural style and so on. Apart from size, those are mostly subjective and subject to opinion. Bigger is usually better, but not always.

Pic related are the obvious(?) top three, but in which order? Which sets should make up the rest of the top ten, and could any of those be argued to deserve a place in the top three?

I've been able to build all three with a friend and I disagree. The temple looks good, but both parts of ninjago city are better. The dock may not look like much but they're excellent, though it's best you get them if you have ninjago city.

Why did pic related go up so much in value on the third market? It's really no different from any of the other playset ships Lego has made, and the only thing that makes it more distinct is that it's all black.
Davy Jones alone is worth $90 "new" in the US on Bricklink.
If you want to buy it, with the minifigs, it's worth at least $250 (original retail price: $99.99)
Want it MiSB? Pick a different set, cause you can much more for $500 than this tiny, honestly unimpressive ship.

Been lurking and just entering to get the ball rolling. Used to post here a lot, I mostly did paintings and six wide car builds. Here are two shortened SC's (they always looked too long to me). The red one is mostly based off KeepOnBricking's Ferrari redux, going for a more classic look.

How could one obscure Lego youtuber from 2016 be so based? He basically called it on everything. The price for this in resale dropped 600 dollars. The sales dropped too 2-4 a half year. Also Lego released the new Cloud City just a bit over his two year prediction

Sure, but I can't remember which state it was in when I posted it last time, it's very possible that nothing has changed. I got a bit frustrated with it, it was supposed to be an update based on the Lego Batman Movie one, a bit of a challenge for myself, but I don't even like that version that much and I'd rather design a completely new one.
But I really like the water and rock part and how I centered the windows on the right side so I don't want to take it apart yet either...

The thing IS overpriced or rather "artificially bloated".
It's not any bigger than the old Kai Fire Mech from the Stone Army wave and the only reason it's 15 bucks is simply because of the two skeletons.
For reference, that's the same price as the recent shark and dragon Creator kits (the latter being pretty excellent for making your own small mechas) or one of the mid-sized Exo Force mechs that also had light bricks.

Exoforce is off the market and would cost $18.25 with inflation. That set was only 160 parts and a lot of stickers and an over priced light brick.

Samurai mech is 154 parts with 2 skeletons. Compare it to the star wars troop builder sets 109-118 parts and one extra fig.

The only scandal here is that lego is charging licensed shit prices for original themes and subbing skeletons for minifigs. This is not the set you should be shitting your pants over.

As I see it there's basically two definitions of art:
the "classic" art forms, literature, paintings, music, etc and
everything created with an "artistic intent"
the second definition always leads to everything being considered art, which makes the term useless and people who still specifically point out their creations as art pieces seem a bit pretentious or insecure to me.

I never see the appeal of lego models that work like that. Even the large Legoland models. It's just 3d pixel art. I'm a much bigger fan of models that utilise the unique shape of pieces to create the illusion of other shapes. For example the frog and scorpion in the dragon dance set.

I went through a shitload of amiga and early 90s pc game summaries the past couple hours and I can see them making this into a game with their fetish for medieval cults and dystopiapunk.

"Once upon a time the evil god Getkrakken looked upon our world with hateful lust. He could see us but he could not touch us, for he was immaterial. However humans possess a collective power of faith that can affect the material world. Getkrakken chose those people most suitable to his plans and formed them into a cult. The cult's mission was to spread his mindset among the humans so that they would bring him into existence with their collective power. The cult went about it's work for centuries, forming their message into a social behaviour so that it could be spread and adopted easily. Things reached a critical point during the 21st and 1/4 century. The cult's message had a significant part of the population in it's grip. The archpriestess of the cult was about to don the world's crown. But their plans were thwarted when the god of mischief activated his champion and people rallied behind him. The ensuing clash transformed our world.
It is many centuries later and the conditions necessary for the cult's existence and operation have only recently reestablished. The cult's scripture states that the cult must always be led by a Whore of Babylon of pure chosen blood. The last purebred chosen woman recently died, forcing the cult to improvise. They dug out Argebee's mummified corpse and zapped it back on it's feet with vile technonecromancy.
The scripture also prophesizes that the cult will be antagonized by a champion related to them whenever they reach a milestone, who should be killed at birth before he has a fighting chance. To that end they have included voluntary fetuscide into their preached doctrine.
You are the son of a single mother who didn't get an abortion due to wellfare benefits. You're antisocial, you're pissed, and you're armed. Time to save the world.

I sort into large plastic tubs by colour, with a box of wheels+axles, small compartment boxes for minifig parts, rare colours and small technic parts (not beams or rods over 4 studs). Is there a better way?

made a version of the ritual in process, cause I wanted to see how it’d look with some „action“ and also more tentacles = more horror
I’m really happy with the tentacles coming out of the scroll, the green ones not so much. I also wanted the guy behind the altar to be revealed as some sort of squid man, but with the Atlantis head there was too much red in the middle and the CMF one looked too gooofy

at nearly $20+ in my country, it's frustrating, and it makes me worry how far TLG are willing to push it in terms of how little they can give you at an absurd price.

It's even more concerning when you take that into account, coupled with the fact that the quality of the pieces and prints are also taking a hit as well. I don't want to pay top dollar for parts that will break and wear out in less than a year.

The type of figs they usually do keychains for are the ones that I get 7 copies of from buying sets. Even if I didn't have one, everyone will be selling them for less than the discounted keychain on bricklink.

It's a neat idea though, just not worth the effort and risk. Even if done perfectly you a sub-optimal fig and you could very well end up wasting your time and money.

It's fairly efficient if you just want a certain fig and you don't care about getting a legit one. For example, before she was re-released, I wanted an Aayla Secura figure but didn't want to pay 30 bucks, so I bought the 5 dollar keychain and removed the chain part. However:

Cons:
-torso and legs permanently attached
-sometimes head and hairpiece/helmet don't come apart either
-sometimes head/torso don't come apart either

I've always wondered what Jang's brick link orders that he unboxes cost. It seems like he has a pretty huge collection, but donates complete sets to charities now. I know youtube money and all that, but he's had to have spent tens of thousands of dollars on sets and parts and his city doesn't seem *that* big. Outside of car collectors, I don't know which hobbies could really compete in costs with those MOCers that make the huge castles you see or life sized statues.

Ex-trainfag, I don't think the average hobbyist level guy is that skilled. The very best guys at shows + instagram are genuine artists but most layouts are just some static grass hills and premade buildings.

My biggest problem is city layouts take up so much space (and all that dust). Start with bookshelf layouts or vignettes and see how you feel.

I think it depends. If you're doing most or even everything custom there can be a lot of creativity involved in it, especially if you take actual city planning into account. If you're just lining up creator sets and filling your streets with mismatched city cars you might as well just not make a city.

My local Tesco, the one literally outside my window, has the CMFs, but they're £3 there. Additionally, because of the thefts in my area, they're each locked up in plastic cases, so you can't guess by feel there.

I hope so. I used to work with Poles, and they had the best sense of humour. Our local Polski Sklep guy was based, too. Used to get free cakes, and me and his daughter used to chat for ages. Was actually gonna ask her out, but the day before I planned to, her dad got hit in the head with a brick thrown by some Ukrainian fucks trying to do the place over. Never found out what happened to him, and the place closed.
