Animated Blitzwing was a great character- decent new toy when? I currently have LG Blitzwing with two customized TMs to give him his extra personalities but I'd love an actually decent Animated inspired Blitzwing with the face changing gimmick (the OG toy is IIRC a bit weak and the T30 toy is rubbish).

I hadn't been keeping an eye on the market, but after the new one was announced, I found plenty of MP-21s on ebay that had sold for $50+.

I do miss that archer-era tactic where they first flip the color temperature (i.e. white to black, blues to reds) then try to match it some character they can find. Nowadays, it's a straight repaint/redeco to some geewun character.

Excellent.

I road tripped to my grandma's yesterday and picked up my first botbot while getting snacks. I always like to pick up some kind of little figure or knickknacks on long drives. I was hoping to not get any of the food-based guys (except frostferatu whom I desperately want), but S'up Dawg actually is pretty great and I do love corn dogs.

My parents met me up here and my mom had gotten some blind bags from a closing Kmart for like a nickel. This little Optimus is pretty nice. I'd like to get the Blaster from these bags too.

That's due to the poor engineering, not GPS. The energon version doesn't even use glittery plastic, IIRC.

Not really. You could glue or kitbash a replacement part, but the engineering issue is still there.

The problem is that the entire mass of the fat arms is bearing on that thin, flat piece in front. When you try to unfold the torso sides for transformation, even more torque is applied to that one piece of plastic. I guess you could have it permanently in scorpion mode if you want to avoid another breakage...

Depends who you ask.
Beast Wars is unwatchable for people who are over-sensitive to uncanny valley. Like kids who didn’t grow up in the PS1 & 2 era.
The machinima looked good when still, but was very choppy, had a gutted plot that required extensive knowledge of Transformers continuities to understand, and was dull.
Kiss Players is always worth a mention, even if its not a cartoon.
The G2 “cartoon” is just awkwardly recut G1 episodes, so by default has to be worse than G1.
A lot of people hate the visual styles of the Animated and both Prime and its spinoffs.

Wasn’t there like flash animations on the web in the 90’s/early 2000’s? I may be thinking of Bionicle on that.

Also, what were you expecting? X-Men The Animated Series? G1 is like the Kitty Pryde cartoon pilot.
At least its not Spider-man And His Amazing Friends, which is what everyone was more used to.

Yes, it does, because G1 is bottom-of-the-barrel trash.

It's also worth noting that Armada's Japanese version is infinitely superior to the dub (even at the animation level) but even the dub is millions of miles better than G1.

New guy to the whole toy thing. Two questions: is the Power of the Primes Optimus as bad as I think it is? He looks great in both robot and alt mode, but I've seen pictures where orion pwx is transformed into a block and shoved up his as, and is awkwardly jutting out like a full diaper or a stupid cat sitting in a box that's too small. I wanted to get him because I think he's the best looking non-masterpiece optimus.
Second question is also related: does the Power of the Primes Optimus mesh well with Combiner Wars figures, aesthetic and scale wise? I like the combiner sets that that line released.

I started collecting in about 2009 and I was a total geewun normalfag who only wanted repaints of the most popular characters and hated "neon" colors because I thought they looked too "unrealistic". MP Loudpedal was my gateway drug. I picked him up on a whim and I was like "Hey... this guy is so much cooler than Tracks". I ended up getting Exhaust to go with him and that was the end of my love affair with generic primary color geewun bots. I've actually sold off just about all of the G1 MP bots in the background of this old pic.

PotP is made to look like MP10, so if you want a cheap MP10 with grey trailer bits on the sides, go get a KO MP10 without grey trailer bits on the sides.

The power-up mode doesn't look good with other CHUG figures, it's too clean looking for that size. Other leader-class TFs have more details all over the body to make them look huge.

The 86 movie was shat on upon release and both it and the cartoon are mocked by everyone who isn't burdened with nostalgia gogggles. The Bayverse is still alive, Armada is finally getting proper updates and G1 MP is crashing and burning. Even Generations is incorporating UT designs like Galaxy Force Prime and is updating the shittier elements of G1 to not suck (like making Megatron a tank like he should be).

Bee is a prequel that had some last-minute edits and reshoots to kinda-sorta give them leeway to call it a "reboot" if it were successful, but more or less won't matter because the franchise itself will more than likely get a proper reboot meaning none of it mattered in the end.

Yeah but Bee was successful, it made quite the sum of money when you consider it went up against Aquaman, a movie that some how become a fucking juggernaught(so much so its one of WB's most profitable movies ever) and the fact its the most critically acclaimed transformers movie to date, and has had its praises sung by the majority of audiences that watched it.
I'm assuming the TLK sequel is just there to tie up loose ends with the Bay series and to gauge public reaction to that series, so that they can judge of its worth continuing.

Anyway as far as Scoop goes, I'm not seeing any imediete way to get his back wheels flush with the front set, if it's impossible would you accept a wide set of back wheels, considering it's already gonna be an unrealistic space keep anyway? Might solve some headache, and if you wanted to keep it all pegged together, plastic-welding some small tabs on the arms and having them peg into holes on the cab cover might strengthen the altmode.

"CHUG" is Classics-Henkei-Universe-Generations, it's a catch-all term for Hasbro mainline toys like Prime Wars and SIEGE.

Here's the black repaint beside Titans Return Overlord of the same size class. You can see that Overlord is busier with the details while OP is cleaner to match the cartoon looks.

You would have to disassemble the both shoulders to be able to fix it. This requires unscrewing both screws on the back of the figure's shoulder area for both sides. You would then have to sand away at the peg that houses the screw hole to make it fit loosely in the hole. My energon scorponok luckily never broke, so I did this as a preventative measure so that it will never break.

Because that's all HasTak has been willing to give us for the longest time. We'd prefer to have gotten some of the original mold slots that were used to remake the '84-'86 cast 3 (going on 4) times in as many years, but that won't happen. Since Archer left any other continuity except bayverse barely gets an occasional handwave. Eventually Hasbro is going to fatigue those characters and need to do something different, as everyone settles on their favorite version of the character. Hell, just look at Classics OP or MP10 and the people staying on them instead of going to Siege, POTP, or MP44. That's only going to get worse, especially with the casual fans who are the meat of Hasbro's sales.

You should be glad Hasbro went back to G1 anyways. UT was a desperate calls for desperate measures situation. The toys were loaded with gimmicks to grab the attention of zoomers even if it meant crippling the toys to do so. They relied on the Japanese to make more Transformers and clearly the yellow freaks can't make a good toy compared to Hasbro. It was a dork age but now that G1 is back we don't need that shit anymore. Nobody wants them.

The toy was made as a direct homage to Armada Starscream, and they made IDW tie it in to the ongoing (G1) comic in order to make the toy relevant to current media.

Can't you attempt a repair? I had to rebuild my MPM 04's entire right wing assembly after the factory forgot a screw and drove the pin holding it to the torso crooked, mauling the shit out of the plastic (as a result of the missing screw). I had to take apart pretty much the entire upper torso and use a lot of patience with files and plastic weld to fix it.

If thrust has issues with his head being unable to move, that's an easy fix. I did I think to my Breakaway in order to free up the neck which is on a ballpoint but blocked from moving by the clear cockpit part in front of the face.
Remove it, shave a 'C' in front of the chin, reassemble. Now he can looks around at stuff.

Not me. I agree with that take on the retool-clamoring. I'd like some new molds like Universe Hot Shot and T30 Starscream but I wouldn't trust Warden to not shit the bed with his disinterest.

G1 was LOADED with gimmicks and gimmick characters. Rubsigns, combiners, headmasters, targetmasters, powermasters, pretenders, micromasters, action masters, and those were just the major ones. Now you're going to say-

But that's exactly what UT figures did. Minicons were micromasters mashed up with various G1 gimmicks. Powerlinx was based around combiners, specifically Landcross. Cybertron figures were port-activated triggerbots and triggercons. None of the gimmicks were without G1 precedent except for energon weapons and stars, and I don't think anyone's particularly attached to those.
