The tyre and the wheel were stiff, which was unusual, almost like they were stuck together.. They typically pop out easily, like the rest of my tyres.

Yes - there was a large discrepancy in Unitron outfits vs their ship colors. Give it a shot, maybe it will work well.

I don't really think there's a market for it anymore. I feel the original themes had this much charm about them to us because there was a lot of stuff left blank - stuff you had to fill in for yourself.

You had a general layout but built your own universe through your own means.
From what I've seen they've moved away from that - today kids are told exactly who's who, what's what, leaving far less room for creative play.

About a month ago I called Lego and made a phone order that included three big expensive assemblies, but neither myself nor the rep I was speaking to realized that the whole assembly didn't come in the same bag, which I found out for myself a couple weeks later when it showed up. Naturally I made a second order and racked up about $40 in "forgot-about-this-one" parts, but since the piece isn't listed in their online catalog, I incorrectly assumed it was a different piece and again didn't get it.

Just got off the phone with a rep for the third time with the intention of ordering just those three pieces; as soon as I told him the part I wanted, he said "Wow, those are about $2 each, which seems like a lot for just one piece of plastic." Then he told me he would send them all to me at no charge.

Unrelated, but I think Dracula's daughter Vanessa looks really cute with Sally's flower.

WHEN STAR-SPAWN FROM BEYOND THE GALAXY THREATEN THE WORLD, MAN AND MONSTER MUST UNITE TO SAVE THE EARTH!

At left are Dracula and Dracula's daughter Vanessa. As everyone knows, following the end of the Great War, Dracula briefly became mortal in 1918, where he sired a daughter. Now it's 1933 and he's starting to have second thoughts about this whole end-of-the-world thing that he's been hearing so much about from the other monsters. Vanessa, meanwhile, mostly wants to be a teenager and not dress like plague masks are still in but her dad is so old-school.

To counter the chthonic conundrum of the Star-Spawn, Dracula contacts his old rival's descendant, Kate Bluestocking, varsity athlete on the archery team at her college for librarians, who Dracula finds has already been working on a lead.

Together, the three of them travel to New Gloomington, Delaware, and encounter local yokel Willie Wheattoast. Despite being three-sevenths Star-Spawn himself, Willie has no interest in seeing the world end, as his cousin still owes him a good sum of money, and happily hands over his original first edition of the Necrobibliograph, or as he calls it, "the old family album".

However, the maddening text scrawled with a damned quill by the hand of someone with terrible fashion sense indicates that the rift which will open and spill the terrors of the Star-Spawn into our world is located on the rugged border between Egypt and India. Only one civilized man knows his way through the area, Virginia Slim! Unfortunately, he died from tuberculosis in 1928. Fortunately, Kate knew a great spell to raise a zombie with all its memories and personality intact.

I have a ton of old technic sets and found a million of these arms that I have no idea what to do about. Bought some recent sets to kinda see new build techniques and get beam pieces, but all the connectors, pins, and axles are so specialized now.

Yep. I feel like if Chima had more impressive builds, it would've lasted as long as Ninjago. The only thing they going for it were the minifigs. I hate to see those minifig pieces go to waste.

Mega bloks is amazing. I remember how back when Halo was still big enough to give them plenty of free cash, they used real photoshoots of their Cod sets as box art. Really professional stuff done completely outdoors. The soldiers looked real with a bit of imagination and the articulation also helped to facilitate that toy becoming real life feel.

I wish they didn't include that stupid ass helicopter and brought back the 2012 Chitauri. I can live with the "Dragonfly" ship and the "Speeder" as unique designs, but fuuuckk the Heli.

I built this and i have 600 hours on junkrat and it's my favorite character ever.

1) Klocki Junkrat absolutely has to have big wheel.
junkrat is a very tall man but he appears short because he hunches over the weight and size of wheel he carrying. So the lego wheel should really "pronounce" better. While on photos his wheel is almost invisible because it's too small.

2) There is a such a better way to make his weapon ammo box (magazine?)

But this is lego and the whole point of it is to build new things with it so im VERY HAPPY to have junkertown klocki that i will use to make junkrat and hog of my dreams!

I do the same with my Bastion (pic related) vs theirs (the one from the Blizzard store). I think they captured better the comic style of the game, even if they're not in minifig scale.

That's why I haven't done more OW characters in minifig scale recently, and when I build an OW character, it's in the style of their D.Va/Reinhardt/Bastion.

Rebrickable sometimes lists prices that are way too high than what a part actually costs on the market. Also how do you adjust for prices being inflated due to a part being new?

And lastly how do you figure out what a MOC really costs to build? I uploaded a partslist into Bricklink but depending on the seller the prices can vary a lot. If I use "easy buy" or "auto-select" the prices can be twice as big as if I select the stores manually.

This wasn't particularly expensive it's one of the new 99$ space base sets expanded with 20 white wall panels fron a pick a brick cup, nine windows from the hall of armor and then just random computers up top. I had no idea I had so many white window frames but I'd imagine they're cheap on bricklink. Had I bought all this from Bricklink instead of Lego it'd have cost 60~80$ vs the 170$ Lego sticker price I paid for the two sets white joining bricks and handfull of blue 1x6's to make the hanger doors taller

Depends on what you're looking to build. Classic sets have a high basic-bricks-to-more-specialized-parts ratio, and a range of colors that can be a deterrent if you're never going to use some or most of them. I've only picked up a few small ones on deep clearance to dump into my parts supply, but if the kind of building you're into would be along the lines of what classic sets contain, sure it'd be worth it.

By the way, I think the statue of liberty might be among my top sets of the year, just because of it's merits as a parts pack. The only part I don't really see myself using in the future is the pink 2x2 "brain".
I really hope we get some more almost monochromatic sets in neat colours in the future.
Sets with a general large array of neat parts are great too (can't wait for the friends restaurant to go on sale), but it's great getting so much of a lesser used colour at once, especially for so cheap.

There are a couple, but they don't have big collections, bricktubes, freebies or anything that special really. Not even better prices. The only reason I visit one is because they sell minifigs in opened bags, so I go and pick up my favourites from each set.

I did most of my brickfilming YEARS ago, making projects in middle school. I used a logitech quickcam deluxe, which was cheap enough that my parents would get it for my birthday. A couple years back I got a c615, which is a much nicer piece, but I never ended up doing much with it. I also found an old c500 at a garage sale recently.

It's nice to see someone else interested in brickfilming. I always regret not sticking with it and putting some stuff out there when the community was still there.

I've been using a Logitech c920 webcam for my animations for the past two years and it's really good. I'd prefer to use this over a proper camera mostly because it's small and it can get to the minifigs level easily.
The biggest problem I have with it is that because I film lots of minifig action close the camera I often nudge the camera so I often have to either re-shoot what I've done or keep the camera moving for the next couple of frames. Another problem (although it probably is just me) is that there can be a lot of grain in each frame if your lighting setup isn't great.

This is a bit I filmed a couple years ago with my c615. I didn't get the lighting or contrast right, and the animation is stiff because I was so out of practice, but the image quality is quite sharp as you can see.

Was this really shot with a webcam? I find it interesting that even if the lighting isn't perfect, you still have some balance on the contrasts, colours, etc. These are a non-issue with proper cameras, because you can pre-set all the settings. But with cheap cameras they often lack that option, which makes huge differences from picture to picture.

Okay I am not deep into Star Wars so maybe this is an old design they used but to me it feels like they took the iconic designs and changed them (made them worse) just so they can sell them again as something new. Overall I liked it. I even won the FLL on local level with my team once.
In hindsight I have to admit that Fischertechnik has the better robotics system since that allows easy integration of custom circuitry.
Personaly I don't like the zamor launcher in NXT2.0 and EV3 but I understand why kids like it.

Went to a legoland recently

Now how do I get the motivation to be more creative and build some cool spaceships and stuff?
I look at plenty of builders online, and have a pretty decent collection of parts and other bits (tons of minifigs), but when I go to start building, it's like I can't do what I feel like I could if I had the energy.
Is organizing your collection a major part of building success? I don't have much more space than the average closet and office desk, and only a quarter or so of my stuff is organized (three-tier plastic shelves, and zippy bags), so most of the rest is left in gallon or so sized ziplocks in a big cardboard box, mostly unorganized (save for lot bags of pieces by color).
What would you guys suggest for small space part organization? I don't have room for a wall of drawers, but maybe boxes with parts separated by bag? My only issue with that is visibility and accessibility.

100% yes. Once you take the time to fully and completely organize your collection, you'll be amazed at how easy it is to moc because you won't lose inspiration and drive while wasting time hunting for parts. I use these Sterilite three-drawer units, and if that's what you're using, you can buy multiple shelves, remove the tops, and attach them to each other in stacks to make taller units. I currently have two units that are each six drawers high, one that's five drawers high, and one that's four drawers high. Stacking these shelves is great for a small footprint.

Unfortunately I don't have room for those large drawer organizers, I've got a 4x3 and 3x1 cube bookshelves and the smaller 3 drawer organizers, along with a few lidded tubs. I have some open cube shelves, and I think I'm going to at least start with organizing things in zip bags in tubs and drawers, and see if there isn't a good option for my space.

What's your maximum set size?

I don't know if this is me rationalizing my lack of money but anything with more than 1000 pieces sounds like a chore to build for me and I find that the more pieces are used the less LEGO the model becomes. And with 1000 pieces it can still be comfortably built in a few hours, doesn't break the bank, has a good amount of detail while still being blocky and doesn't take a lot of space to display.

I am talking about LEGO System and non-building models. I don't have any experience with buildings and I guess there the math is different.

Personally I'm a 'bigger is better' fag when it comes to sets. I've got the UCS Slave 1 which is probably my favourite and I'm building the kinoplex from the modular buildings set at the moment.

That image is really tempting me to buy the UCS M.Falcon even if I'm not a massive star wars fan, all the detailing is what gets me going in sets.

Last night I figured out what was wrong with this hoverklocki I had been trying to build all week. Turns out it was supposed to be a 5-wide/7-wide instead of a 6-wide. This is the first time I've done a vehicle in an odd width. Had to cut a few corners because I didn't have enough 1x3 and 2x3 plates in certain colors. Still really happy with how it turned out.

Dashboard has the standard radio that all my hovercars have, and the seats fold up to reveal a very deep secret storage area

Also the first time in a while that I haven't made one with bench seats

It's easy to make a six-wide that seats two minifigs. You just have to use jumper plates to offset the studs that the minifigs sit on.

I thought about it, but I like the way the studs add to the shape, and also it means someone can surf the hood

I love using CMF plates in builds!

I have a guilty conscience for the most part. The situation was that it was a dude's sale that lived with his parents and he wasn't home to give prices. I met him last year and he wanted fair/high prices for most of his things. Me and another dude were going through their basement when the kid said things would be available different days, but the parents let us down anyways. The other dude made out like a bandit and bought a ton of board/video games for like $1 each because the parents didn't care and wanted it gone.

Trying to go through things the other day made me realize I have a pretty big collection now, but I'm a sucker for minifig gear/heads/hair/parts and kind of throw caution to the wind. I've been budgeting myself to $40 a month with a 1/4 of that going to a set. So $30 fig stuff, $10 on/towards a set. Apocalypseburg is probably the only "major" thing I'll buy this year, and only on discount at the end of it. Christmas sales and deals are a pain in the ass. I just can't say no to rock bottom priced Lego. Absolutely hate that I can't find these great garage sales you guys find.

Same. I was just in two large neighborhood garage sales. Probably went through 20 houses. I was there EARLY too. I saw the sign the day before and showed up two minutes after they opened. I saw ONE mix/matched lone bionicle figure without a price tag. And it was pieces I already owned. And some duplo. That was the only lego I saw. There was also some cool antique furniture that I don't need because I already own a house full of cool old antiques. A lot of fine china I don't need. The rest was absolute trash. I can't believe I didn't find any traditional lego. I was sure I would find something, even if I wouldn't want to buy it.

Buy some Creator set. They're cheap and they come with a good amount of pieces to create your own things, even with one single set you can build your own things. Pic related is one of best sets right now, anons here have posted really good creations with it.

Not my pic, but it's the only Lego line I ever had complete, got a bunch of them for birthdays/Christmas when I was a kid. Loved them to death, coolest designs. Don't really collect Lego anymore, and gave all my parts to my nieces, but sometimes I miss these guys.
