Why is it that I can find all the oldest sets to buy no problem, but all the newest sets are impossible to find?

DON'T GET YOUR HOPES UP BUT there is a new theme that got leaked,we don't which theme are these set numbers from,it could be Troll or Minions though 14 sets seems a lot for both of those themes. Leaf is a code name,people speculated they could be plant accesories but those get different numbers and these are set number. No idea what it could be.

Lego "Leaf" sets 71360 - 71373.

2016 Bionicle ended at 71300-71316 , but then we got some 2017 Dimension sets from 71340-71349.

I am just guessing here based on set numbers what those 14 sets might be , Bionicle and Dimensions set numbers are just very similar for 2016.

I can't find any other set numbers used from 713xx-72000 however (72001-72006 is the small 2018 Nexo Knights wave)

Keep an eye on it, but just remember; cautious optimism. None of the G3 "leaks" have disappointed me yet because of expectation management. Lego will explore buildable figures again eventually. Maybe this new theme is it, might not be. There's still Rebel Nature, Faber's enigmatic whatever, and a few fan projects to look forward to, at the least.

Dont worry, I'm not. Because of the failure of G2 and the SW shelfwarmers, I think Lego is going to have to move away from CCBS in order to convince retailers to order from them. Developing a new system is going to take some time and considering how poor these themes performed there's probably no rush to get another out. My prediction is at least 2 more years

I swear I've had a dream before where they did a 20th aniversary for bionicle that was just a 1:1 reissue of Matas and Bohroks. But with blue/red/grey pins.

If they ever did more bionicles I don't know what I'd really be hopeful for anyway. I'm not really big on CCBS and I know technic line is basically on life support so I doubt they'd consider doing technic action figures again.

Not as a lorefag, it isn't. Plus, I want to play around with various limb configurations and take some good pictures of him. I'm sure something can be done to make him seem at least slightly acceptable. For instance, Trinuma looks fucking stupid in most pictures but he's actually pretty cool.

I dunno, if you like it you like it and should get it. Always seemed kind of pointless to me though considering it doesn't even really resemble the movie version.

I'd really like to know what the deal is with Teridax's movie design. Everything else in that movie at least resembled their toys, but Teridax is just whatever the fuck. It's as though they were given an early prototype design that just got completely scrapped.

I can see what they were doing with it, I just don't know why. Why take the characteristic sleek, elongated, monstrous, curvy mask that was all over the '03 marketing materials, and turn it into a blocky, flat, stout, humanlike one?

The Kraakhan is so alien looking and weird that it's disappointing that it wasn't properly represented in the movies, but I could understand that being a reason why they changed it.

Apparently this is how they got to the final movie model. Seeing this I can tell how they made some decisions, especially in regards to the legs. I still have no clue how they designed his movie mask though.

Movie Teridax makes me angry because even though I see his set/game form as his default form whenever I read past scenes (like his fight with Miserix) I imagine him in his movie form moving and talking.
And I really can't take movie Teridax seriously because he's fat and has thin trex arms. And yet that form has tainted my memories.
As a narcissist and a shapeshifter Teridax should look like the Bionicle's equivalent of a chad, much like the unmutated Barraki, so his 2003 set made sense.

And see this is my beef with the movies. Bionicle and Transformers were fucking rad to me as a kid because they didn't look human. They were these big creepy alien-robots with badass glowing eyes. 11 old me was unironically upset seeing the Matoran sounding like teens and all characters being so expressive and human-like.
But who knows. Maybe I was the weird kid with weird tastes.

That's always the thing with these sort of series about non-human races, it's so rare to get ones that actually just never have humans in them. Bionicle is legitimately really special in this way.

Even if you're upset about the movie redesigns making things look more human, what you should really be glad is they actively rejected the movie and comic pitches that revolved around things like having a kid transported to the bionicle universe and vice versa. They really wanted to bionicle to be about bionicle and that's that, no stupid shit like protohumans.

I always found it kind of amusing how bionicle actually has an in-universe explanation for why all the animals are so fucking dangerous and powerful. Literally "What if satan got to make all the animals?"

I don't think I ever actually got any of them since I never really had that much attachment to Star Wars (and like most toys I wanted as a kid, it was either that or a new bionicle) but I definitely spent a lot of time gawking at the promos of SW technic figures in lego magazines as a kid.

I transplanted some lime green joints off my Phantoka Lewa so as to be able to get my Hahli Mahri standing again. Felt like I should have some Toa Mahri representation on my shelves and she seems like the most fitting for what I like to display.

Anyone else wish they kept the Blue/White coloration from her Inika form? I think it's a pretty good aesthetic. I could see why they'd want to change up the colour scheme to differentiate the NEW TOY more but I'm a little iffy on blue/green. Don't really want to change it for display though.

Also for as much as people dislike that mustachio'd Inika mask, it's pretty funny that her Inika and Mahri masks are the only ones to really resemble each other at all because of the use of hoses on their design.

I am a former Lego employer, let go because of...creative differences, lets put it like that.
Recently there has been a leak concerning two new IP Lego plans on releasing. I can confirm that one of those two IP's will indeed be similar to the discontinued Clikits line and supplemental to the current Friends line. Some of my friends higher up said Lego is planning to heavily invest into girl products, with Clikits being one of the many new ones coming. The second one is much more interesting and heavily based upon the original Cybots idea developed all the way back in the 90's by Faber. Lego has indeed met with Faber back in 2016, almost immediately after announcing the end of Bionicle. A couple ideas have been thrown around, including a classic space AF theme and a Exo-Force reboot to finally settle on what we have now.
The line will have 18 sets - 14 in the winter and 4 in the summer. 6 of them are companions in small boxes, 6 medium-sized ones and 2 big ones, the size of Umarak the Destroyer. The summer wave has only 4 sets, all of them big. The story doesn't have any concrete details yet, with the exception of the fact that it will take place on several remote planets and will involve two groups of creatures - the small sets, a cross between Protectors, Elemental Creatures and Cybots called Prospectors that prepare the planet for the arrival of some colonizers and their protectors (the canister sets) that fight off monsters - which will be the big sets.
Faber has signed a non-disclosure agreement, but Lego has allowed him to slightly prepare the people for the new IP through art on his Insta. The things incased in ice are the medium-sized sets.

Adults are always overthinking that kind of stuff. If unemotive robots wouldn't work for children, why was all the marketing material for the toys first few years (even during and after the movie came out) exactly that? That same shit would have resulted in a Bionicle movie with a human kid visiting the Bionicle world if LEGO hadn't put its foot down in 2001 or 2002.

I get the issue with the eyes not being visible, that would have been a problem to deal with. They could have just fudged it a bit by just turning the mask's eye holes into their eyes like what they pretty much did for the movies, I don't think that would have clashed too hard with the toy aesthetic.

I don't think 1:1'ing the sets would have been distracting though. It certainly didn't seem like a problem for that Mata Nui movie.

They mentioned in the directors' commentary that the sets had too many holes that always flashed because light shined through when the characters moved. So I never got why they didn't merely fill them in. It's interesting though that by the third film the screen designs got closer to the sets. They had more recognizable pieces and set-like spindly extremities. It's kind of like with the Transformers movies. At first the creators were all "we have to change everything because the old designs won't work" then multiple films in they change their mind and decide go closer to the original looks. They weren't exactly like the sets, but they were more set accurate than the previous two movies.

That's mainly cause the '09 sets already had hands and workable joints unlike the fake knees and elbows of the early sets. And even TLR's designs had to cheat a bit, like Mata Nui's shoulder-mounted blades are constantly moving and floating around his arm to avoid covering or clipping into his head. Personally, I'd prefer a halfway point between WoS's and TLR's designs, set accurate and recognizable in the main details but with small tweaks here and there so they can emote.

The small sets will be based around the same construction system as the Nexo Knights battle suits, using a mixture of Creature and Character building system and small balljoints, the middle characters will be completely Creature and Character, not unlike the Bionicle reboot and the bigger ones will be similar to Umarak the Destroyer and the bigger sets of Hero Factory - Creature and Character core with technic around it.

I didn't say anything about canisters. The sets will be in cardboard boxes, similar to the Bionicle reboot. Lego has indeed tried to find a solution for their plastic problem, with one of the discussed potentials being recyclable boxes but focus group testing showed that children keep on to their plastic boxes, making recycling quite challenging.

The Mata Nui sets were meant to gold, right? Why did they change that? If I remember correctly metallic and transparent colors aren't more expensive than regular colors to produce.
Truth to be told, I think I might prefer him in yellow. But since his body was made of sand, tan or dark tan would've probably been the best compromise.
I think Toa Ignika was meant to be gold, too, but I don't have anything to back up my claim.

Yellow and gold have a strange history in Bionicle. I remember back when we learnt about Lhii, who was explicitly described as yellow and everyone took for granted Lhikan had a similar color scheme. The official set came out, and a bunch of people (myself included) were dumbfounded to see he was actually gold like Takanuva. And then the movie made him yellow, red and... gold? Silver? so his Hau matched Jaller's in Mask of Light.

And yet they did the exact opposite with Mata Nui, a gold character turning yellow.

Both are fine if you're ready for it to be more of a typical 5/10 kid's show level of quality.
They're both only mediocre, not actually terrible.

The TLR novelization is pretty good for what it is, though. I maintain that the 2009 chapter books are slept on, especially Raid on Vulcanus

It's been in development since at least the early 2000s, before even Mask of Light. Then supposedly all the film assets were stolen (according to the bullshit artist director) and they had to start over, only for another company to obtain the rights when they couldn't deliver a product on time. They then pushed out the unfinished movie.
I remember looking up the production company before TLR came out and people back then were actually looking forward to Foodfight. Heck, I was looking forward to TLR. Hindsight can be brutal.

Roboriders were kind of neat, but I always preferred Slizers to them. Slizers still had builds where they felt like they could move around and do stuff, minus some like Turbo or whatever. Roboriders didn't really have that for me, so aside from rolling most of them around I never got much out of them.

I have a soft spot for bikes but I overall don't care much for vehicles unless they have a pilot. I think they suffered from being too small as sets, since you couldn't place a pilot to ride them. I never got Boss,so maybe his size allowed him to be more interesting.

I will say this though. The box art was some of the weirdest and creative stuff I had ever seen Lego pull out and as a kid I was dismayed we couldn't get those monsters and pilots as sets instead. But that's beyond the point.

The point is that the concept and art behind Roboriders was actually pretty good and looking at it you can tell it was one the very last Lego themes you could see and think "Yep, this was totally made in the 90s". Even 01 Bionicle was on its way of normalizing constraction, opting for less weird looking sets and color schemes. Slizers/Throwbots and Roboriders were 100% 90s insanity (for better or for worse).

I want to focus Onyx and Dust (and Boss) because they have some of the coolest.. "art direction"? I've ever seen in constraction. By that I mean the whole concept, from the design to the color scheme to the world shown in the box art.

Onyx was a spooky black/grey robot with blood red eyes, laser guns (?) and GiTD wheels, making his way through a hellish nightmarescape of a cave.
Dust was a Mad Max esque MFer with mean knives and a simple but good color scheme Bionicle never really used. The desert he was cruising on was terrifying, some of the scariest art I've seen on a Lego theme.
Boss was weird as fuck too, from the color scheme to the concept itself.

The other 4 were nothing new, just slightly different iterations of concepts Slizers/Throwbots already explored. Shame on me for buying those for the minifig weapons recolors. Dust, Onyx (and Boss) clearly were the MVPs of the line, the only ones who actually brought something new. I wish Bionicle took a page or two from them, at least for Bara Magna. We got rainbow gladiators instead.

I guess I'm not seeing where you're seeing a missed opportunity for them to take inspiration from those sets. 2009 had 3 different tan/black sets, one of which was a huge decked-out vehicle. The rock tribe went hard on the black and red, with Atakus even having GitD swords. Even the Boss doesn't seem that strange, colorwise at least, since it's the same scheme used for the Boxor and Exo-Toa. I dunno, doesn't seem like they missed much. I guess the freaky cover art aside.

For what it's worth, I always thought the elemental creatures from the cancelled PC game would have been carryovers from the weird regional monsters seen on the Slizer and RoboRider promo art. They weren't as creative, but they occupy the same niche of non-toy-based, elemental throwaway baddies that drive home the whole "alien tech & alien nature" theme that ran throughout the three themes. I guess stuff like the Morbuzakh was an extension of the same idea.

Hordika/Visorak was the toyline I think I skipped the hardest as a kid. All I ever got was Whenua, Nokama and [spoiler:lit]Keentongu[/spoiler:lit] and Toa Iruini if you count it.

Don't think I wanna get every every set but I definitely wanna get a bit more representation on my shelves. Like now I have an actual fucking visorak lol. It's pretty neat.

Might be fucked. You could try softening them with a blow dryer or warm water and pressing them back into shape if they're warped or bent. In my experience, Visorak pincers were usually at least a little bit crooked right out of the box anyway from how loose the pins are.

I was expecting more Keetongu height and less Brutaka height. What's worse is like Brutaka when I jam her on my shelf I'm gonna have to make her squat so she fits lol. Her head build is also pretty cool too, I never actually knew how her eyes worked till I got the set now.

For Suukorak's mandibles though, I have them lightly clamped flat between some pieces of wood soaking in hot water for a bit. Hopefully that should reset them to be straight. I figure either I fix them or they stay broken.

What's the deal with these stupid sockets? Are they so weak because the pointless rubber insert gives the plastic too much room to flex so they're not tight enough to have every grip?

IF I had to MOC them using that picture, however, I would use the 2009 Glatorian pieces for them: armor from Stronius for Lord of Rock since, Fire as a Malum on steroids, Jungle as a Gresh/Vastus fusion. No idea about Lord of Water.

That reminds me I would've really liked to see the Earth tribe. The Bara Magna sets were much more obvious
about their element affiliation than the previous sets: Skrall were rock monsters, Vorox were scorpions and Jungle were plant dudes. How would have earth/soil been represented I wonder?

Nah, it's mediocre shit, clunky, incomplete and barely stable. I'd wait for the remaster, hopefully that one will work without the need to restart the program every couple minutes. But I hear it still won't be complete because stuff like Makuta will still be absent. They're gonna have to build a final challenge from scratch because the one in the game is such a letdown.
The only parts of it that have any actual value are the music and its place in Bionicle history.

Probably the most compelling Bionicle action game, though that's not a huge accomplishment. The music, level design, and art are all pretty good. I'm particularly a fan of the non-linear elements of the levels, it sells the idea of a persistent world. Enemies are overly aggressive, not fun to fight. The majority of them will move to your position in a straight line as soon as they see you, and have a pretty good chance to stunlock you depending on which Toa you're using and which enemy is attacking. Kanohi are neat [spoiler:lit]when they work[/spoiler:lit]. Coincidentally, LoMN is the only game that features clearly-defined mask powers in use, more or less as described in the lore, and has all 12 masks available. I can't say I was a fan of it. It's not anyone had the skill, let alone the parts themselves, to build those monsters anyway.

Indeed Morbuzakh was the last member of that breed, probably because they realized kids weren't big on having Toa fight monsters made of imagination.

Now that you mention it, that's probably they started releasing antagonists in the first wave during '06 and '07. So that the Toa have their fight ready as soon as the second wave hits.
