I just realized, while I don't have a setting, I have built a bunch of figures with at least some loose backstory or at least general ideas behind them, but none of them good guys. The closest I've come is some "reimaginings" of official characters...
I need to get on that

Anyways my local Walmart decided to stock their clearance isle with all kinds of different sets that they originally didn't carry during their initial run, should I splurge on this? There's tons of TLM2, Marvel/DC shit, some SW anniversary sets, more than a few 3in1 creator sets, actual box creator sets and a whole host of other goodies. Should I? For once in a long while I got the cash to do so, I'm just sort of flexing on the trigger.

The are finally not using that hideous cgi that Nexo-Knights, Ninjago, those Bionicle movies use. It was just so basic and empty looking. It's not entirely 2D, but I hope they pay more attention to the backgrounds. Of course also the script.

Monster Fighters failed.
Phone apps are big, kids liked Ghostbusters 2016 even if the adults didn’t so they mixed in the Real Ghostbusters cartoon toys to make older adults happy. Plus some Danny Phantom for good measure for the young adults.

I regret not asking for the train for Christmas when I was 16.

Every year since I was a kid I got a Lego for Christmas, because tradition. I figured it was silly so I just asked for the cheapest thing despite loving the idea of haunted trains and non-Pirates Of The Caribbean ghost ships.

I almost did. But I didn’t like how the heroes looked steampunk.

I’m a bit disappointed in the new train though. Looks more like JB hijacked it then a ghost possessed it than being an actual haunted train they came across. Also, it needs at least one proper passenger car. Hogwarts Express always comes with one, why not this?

I made a similar mistake the year it came out, keep skipping it because it was so expensive, even though it was the main set I wanted from the theme. Even saw one on sale after Christmas for $30 and stupidly let that one go. Took two years before I got my hands on one in one of the craziest ways.
Passed through Kansas City and saw a Legoland Discovery Center when I was staying there, decided to pop in. Somehow they had like 10 ghost trains sitting in the back, unmarked. Rang up for $40 and you bet your ass I bought it right then and there.

Monster Fighters brought me out of my dark ages when I grabbed some of the smaller sets. I've been lucky enough to get a good couple of the larger ones since then.

The set came with the plus-wrench, no? Those parts always come in a bag. Hell, the Creator Big Ben from few years back came with like 5 full sets since it only used couple of wrenches for the clock hands

I like the minifigs but I think the T Rex looks autistic. So definitely not worth it. The gate looks good but I wouldn't display it and I wouldn't use a lot of the parts. So thats a skip for me, like most of this theme. I'm sad this wasn't a Brachiosaurus/jeep set with those same minifigs. Thats the only set I want from them and Lego doesn't want to make it for some reason.

375 is the first one I remember getting, though I'm not sure what my first was. I had a few 1975-78 sets as well but they were still on shelves in the early 80s.

The problem with the set is that the build isn't that good for the amount of parts used. Its also still heavily debated whether or not the t rex did or did not have feathers.. The real answer is that we don't actually know. Whats more inaccurate about the Jurrassic Park T rex was its speed Scientists for a long time that the t rex could run 20-33 mph. Then some hypothesized and debated that it could run MUCH faster than that. Now scientists are thinking it couldn't run at all, because it would break their bones. They now think it walks very fast at 10ish mph.

My older brother had a lot of lego pirates and knights. The sets were missing many pieces by the time I got to play with them regularly. I'm pretty sure he had 6271 Imperial Flagship and some 92 era Castle line small sets. But he also had a full large plastic bin of randomly assorted pieces too. I mostly played with his stuff until... my first real set was pic related.

My absolute favorite theme as a kid was the late 90s Ninja Sub-theme of castle. Which I still think holds up well to this day.

That answer changes often. Gun to my head and have choose one at this time? Castle. I swap between Castle, Pirates (this would be my undisputed favorite but Lego hasn't invested enough into it over the years, so I only have a handful of Pirate sets despite collecting lego since the 90s), Johnny Thunder and Space. I also unironically really enjoy a lot of licensed themes like Indiana Jones and Star Wars and think there are some really great sets made for them. I know thats taboo on this board but its the truth.

Kino is a movie meme popularized by 4chan /tv/ despite originally just being a German word for movie which a Soviet director extrapolated to mean experimental film techniques. It refers to a type of high concept movie, although the expression has become bastardized initially as a form of mockery of movie snobs to just call something that many or most people dislike or misunderstand “good”, and is now used that way unironically. The difference between kino and cult as a description is primarily the position of the user, with kino implying a standoffish “prove me wrong” approach and cult implying “you will probably like this if you give it a chance”.

Ninjago is the only one of the three with a theatrical movie, so by default its the only one that the term can apply to at all.

Kino is just the /tv/ equivalent to /mu/'s "patrician" i.e. a buzzword that gets thrown around in an eternal dick measuring contest to see which anon enjoys or pretends to enjoy what would otherwise be inaccessible, unredeemable shit.

With that said, Ninjago is a better theme merely because it's remained enough time to refine their concepts and ended up providing something that appeals to people who aren't familiar with the theme, like the dragons and any scenery build with asian aesthetic, to name a few.
Nexo Knights didn't have enough time to mature and bring interesting stuff apart from specialized parts.

I love Prince of Persia because it gave us molded ostriches, as well as cool spiked minifig pauldrons that didn't show up again until the Son of Sir Bearington CMF, a headwrap piece (I think) and a few other parts that I use a lot.

A few threads ago someone suggested incorporating rock pieces (BURP -since it's all I have) into my castle moc. While I couldn't find a good way to do it without having to redo the entire castle I have gone ahead and taken their suggestion to heart while building a new, smaller fortress.

Living inside is just one knight - he's got a place for sleeping, a small table, a saddle (but no horse) and some gear that he can store and wear (no shield).

I think elves was how lego should be. At any given time I could find sets two or sometimes even 3 waves old at my local toysRus. If you waited long enough the sets were always discounted on top of their baseline fair (non-licensed theme) prices.

I wish I got in earlier since the prices are now fucking insane for the earlier waves, especially so for dragons of course.

I actually had the Undead knight built a while ago - had intended for him to be a sort of necromancer, but he's also been reanimated himself.

The two ghost guards I just set up on the spot. They look decent as back-up. I can imagine ghostly hallebardiers shifting back and forth between this plane and the other, swinging their weapons and cutting down foes left and right as the enemy's weapons simply pass through.

Despite the fact that I think AOTC is not that great of a movie, I really enjoyed a lot of aspects of it. And I found the set pieces really engaging. And there are a lot of sets I really want to see recreated from that movie specifically. The things you listed like Kamino and Geonosis but primarily the club scene where Zam loses and arm and Dexter's Diner are sets I think would be great. Dexter's Diner more than anything because I want a Dexter minifig. There was that jedi form the clone wars that was the same species but his minifig looks next to nothing like dexter.

So are Lego Star Wars sets. At the prices they charge or will charge I expect some more special beast molds. And brick builds rarely end up great in minifig scale. I've never seen a brick built acklay that I found satisfactory. I've tried a few times in the past and the only way to make it look nice is to make it way out of proportion of minifig scale. I don't see many reek builds I like either. I've considered using the 5885 triceratops body as a base and then brick building the head but I'm too autistic about the tale being too large.

Sorry to betray you like this, but I still buy star wars sets. I don't go crazy and buy the whole line every time a new season happens but I regularly buy them. I think some of their best -and some of their very worst- designers are in the Star Wars theme. My main concern actually with their Star Wars license is that they focus too much on sets they've already made almost a dozen times over. Like Jedi Starfighters and Slave 1. Yes. They are really well designed right now but do we really need them remade every couple of years? I think they should probably slow it down a tad. Or at least branch out into crazy town. But YES. I miss classic space so much but unlike you I stubbornly believe Star Wars and Space sets can exist at the same time. I think now is also the time to bring back space with the buzz Benny received from the Lego Movies.

Favorite set is the republic gunship from 2002. Was the first "large" set I ever made and was a big star wars nerd as a kid.

Obviously something with a motor that runs, or an existing set you can stick a motor in wins by default and you’re looking at $150+ there.

For the budget range you also have to limit theme. Ghost trains? Hogwarts Express? Wild west?

You also need to specify how modern a look before its not a train you would like anymore. A lot of people just can’t get into the modern look and want something looking like steam or diesel.

Ignoring stuff like child endangerment that just gets a handwave in kid-oriented action stories, she stole the school bus she drives and covered it in graffiti, reinforced steel panels, and mounted an artillery piece on top. Also based on the bed she’s been sleeping in there.

There’s no way she’s able to pick up a full route of kids in the cramped seatless space.

You'd be surprised how expensive old trains can be. Many consider Emerald Night to be the best one and boy it shows on the price. Same applies on the space monorail, but mostly because of the unique track system. I might be mistaken, but I'm fairly sure the track system is still the same as during 9-volt days. Just remember the older trains with 9-volt motor need 9-volt track to get power

I'm considering the Hogwarts Castle and the new Treehouse, but I was considering swapping the castle out for Ninjago City or the Roller Coaster. I'm looking for a decent challenge, you know?

Its the result of Disney thinking people wouldn’t go see a fucking Star Wars trilogy installment if there was spoilers, so they only gave them snippets to work off of, not realizing they’d make a set out of whatever they were given.

Its part of the reason the movie sucked. They didn’t give Johnson anything at first about the first movie, just telling him to start writing. They fed him the script right before starting to shoot, and he finally got to see Force Awakens while wrapping up shooting.

If you don’t trust a second director enough with the movie he’s making a direct sequel to, then you need to get the same guy to do all three.

I asked about this; somebody thought the lab is supposed to attach to the school with the clip brick on the side of the lab

Not sure about the axle; maybe they just wanted to include it so you'd have a pair, but I have no idea what it's supposed to represent in the build.

I'd like that too. It'll never happen given the amount of drinking and smoking that occurs. Fawlty Towers has questionable content as well. Get Smart would be awesome except it glorifies violence. Not that I have a problem with any of it. But LEGO does.

Still may buy it. I mean, I HATED Big Bang Theory and I still bought that Lego set. Because, like this, it's full of unique minifig parts and brick colors.

Whoops sorry anon, turns out I didn't have time. I'll dump what I have in the morning, but looking back on them quickly rn a lot really aren't nice enough to show. Fucking shame too because the worst images are all of the nicer stuff. I guess that's the price of having a four day old phone and never having had to really use the camera so far.

Parts all came in, r8 my Radium. I think he fits right in with the RR crew, and I'm super pleased how the goggles match his suit color and the visor matches the other minifigs.

In Stunt Rally it's stated that he's a former Rock Raider that got booted from the team for experimenting on people with radioactive materials. I had an empty slot on my RR display case shelf and I thought he'd be a good fit, not only because he's part of the caon but because I had no other Stunt Rally references anywhere and I wanted to pay at least a small tribute to it because it was a part of my childhood.

I built a weird little forest creature. Not sure where that idea came from, but I think there's a bit of Nuzleaf and Shiftry influence in there.
Also I'm happy I found a use for at least some of those leaf pieces, I got a ton of them at the Pick-a-Brick wall.
And I wish the parts between shoulder and body were brown, but 1x1 plates with horizontal clip in brown are stupidly expensive.
