Somewhat unexciting wave. I like the little fixes. MF now has better fitting pieces on top, Kylo's shuttle can now angle the wings and the walker has finally a goddamn driver cabin again. Still can't believe how they greenlit the headless one for TLJ. Everything considered though, I think you don't need to bother, if you have the classic predecessors.

Well, the movie scene started out with a complete walker, whose head section then gets torn off. Lego should opted for the same and made an entire walker, with some play feature to detach the head or let if fall apart with a button press and reveal BB8 underneath. It was idiotic to deliver basically half a set and hope some shitty lifting platform and a Phasma figure would make up for it. I still see the headless set on shelves at local stores for 50% off and still nobody wants to buy them.

Anon, Lego often does this. Do you remember Arctic theme with space creatures frozen in ice? It was non-obvious nod to The Thing. Lego designers are just people and movies are often inspirations for them. Adventurers were obviously based on Indiana Jones, sure they changed Johnnys hat but you know the deal. Doctor is pretty much Sean Connery from The Last Crusade.

Do you guys think this means I should get the old AT-ST and Y-Wing now before they get expensive since it will take a long while for them to get remade in the Original Trilogy version? The new AT-ST is also dark bluish gray so you can't just buy it and replace the new parts.

I've got both of those sets, and they're pretty good. I'd recommend it since with the Mandalorian AT-ST, they'll technically have already released three in as many years.

I bought #60224 for the 2 45-45-90-triangle tiles.

I messed around with some work on the front. The bottom is closer to the real car but sticks out half a brick to far. Prob keep it as it is in the top pic.

Scooby Doo's Gang has the Mystery Machine

In the Lego multiverse/timeline/etc, we have a schoolbus that had a baby with a ufo-chasing conspiracy theorist camper.

Plus, it comes with all three main characters in the set, rather that splitting the gang up in three different fifty-one hundred dollar sets.

It's pretty great.

Call me a heretic but I like the way the red Y-Wing looks more than the original. I never liked the color combination of yellow, white and grey. The cockpit has better shape than the rogue one version. Too bad the detailing is all st*ckers.

Hey anon, I haven't seen this movie yet (not a big Tom Cruise fan) but here's sarcophagus based on the movie prop I saw in Universal park. You can open it and put the mummy inside. I hope you like it.

It's been a consistently solid theme for like seven consecutive years, with a great focus on playsets and rebuildability, as opposed to endless vehicles. It's pretty good at capturing the spirit of the game as well, and has done sets that AFOLs would normally go nuts for, like a fully enclosed castle, an actual, sizeable mountain, and an enormous medieval farming village.

However, there aren't any interesting building techniques used in the Minecraft sets, the parts palette is extremely basic, and the number of useful molds the theme has produced can probably be counted on one hand. There's not much reason to buy or even discuss the Minecraft sets unless you really like Minecraft, and I get the impression most folks here aren't all that interested in it.

Ninjago, The Lego Movie 2, City, Friends, and Creator are still pretty big right now, and Hidden Side seems to be this year's big bang theme (possibly to piggyback off of the popularity of Stranger Things), but there are a lot more licensed themes than before since that's mainly what sells. Lego should bring back classic space or agents or castle or other historical themes, since there does seem to be quite a bit of demand for that kind of thing however.

I think they'll keep releasing Ninjago sets as long as they sell well. It's not intrinsically a bad theme, it's just that it's gone on for a really long time (nearly a decade) and is taking up investment that other, newer themes could use. TLG should wrap up the story soon imho.

Sorry, I left them at home and I'm at college rn, and I don't have any pictures, and they weren't so great anyway, but for Naruto at least, I think I used Deep Jungle Ryo from Exo-Force for the torso and legs, the tennis player from CMF's hair, and a Batman head with the white headband thing that doubles as his eyes for the head (You can carefully draw on it since it's blank). I also used a chi crystal from Chima as a Rasengan. Sorry about that, but I hope this helps you just a little bit to visualize it!

This isn't her real face, it's a funeral mask. Egyptians believed that human soul splits into parts after death, the most important are personality soul (Ba) and body double soul (Ka). Funeral mask was supposed to help Ba (personality) to find their Ka (body double) after death, so they can reunite and the deceased can live forever. If Ba is unable to find Ka, or Ka is destroyed (that's why they mummified bodies - to keep them in best possible condition) the soul won't be able to reunite and Ba will be stuck forever in bird-like form.

Very good point. Ba was alble to go through stone, walls and everything but mummies were protected by magic spells written on wrapping and amulets placed between each layer. Here's a piece of bandage, with spells and magic formulas written on it. Ba couldn't see through this, hence the use of funeral mask, so it could see who's there. The idea was to protect the body from evil souls, gods and other demons.

Yes and no. Of course they weren't placed in golden coffins or something but even peasants could have wooden funeral masks. Egyptians lived their life constantly preparing for death, and what was even more important, the afterlife. Families often had smaller mastabas or tombs where they buried each memeber, for many generations. The funeral ritual was mostly the same as for pharaohs and queens, the only difference was the budget. Pharaoh had funeral boat and massive "celebration" (they didn't celebrate his death, they celebrated his ascension and becoming the one with gods) dozens and dozens of Ushabti (small figures that were supposed to serve him/her in afterlife) while peasants had just smaller funeral. Let's say compare a modern funeral of a president with a modern funeral of a random working class person.

No not really. The cost of mummification meant only the rich could afford it. There are examples of home-made mummies though - some poor people attempted mummification themselves on their dead relatives, with varying degrees of success. The most famous example of this is 'ginger', a mummy found buried in sand which was hot enough to remove the moisture from his body and preserve him.

You could actually build a car in full detail down to the smallest 1x1 round plate. They could implement LDD as an in-game vehicle creator. They could even make it physically accurate so that the weight distribution and aerodynamics of the cars change based on the pieces you use.
Not to talk about how many more characters and themes we now have compared to when the original game came out. They could make a game with only the currently active themes and then release DLC with tracks, parts packs and character packs from vintage themes.
Also it would be a nice change from the usual lego games that are all basically the same.

As a sidenote that's actually a thing in the Forza Lego DLC, their physics engine automatically makes it so the Lego cars are just slightly worse than the real ones.

The little magazine robot is indeed built like some anons thought.
Also he’s actually integrated into the comic, which is neat. Didn’t actually read the whole story, but it’s something about loosing the robot parts and when they find them you get a page with little puzzles and the instructions and then the story continues with the astronauts putting the robot together.

like the other anon said, it's because of the shape of the brick. Normally the "lip" of the pin wouldn't fit against the inside walls of the brick, but due to the studs being hollow the lip has enough space. It's actually very loose when you try to turn it, but won't fall off the brick.

Definitely. I'm about 60% done with them. There are a lot of nonstandard stacks that I haven't photographed because I want them to be a surprise, but at this point I'm mostly building up generic "background" stacks (although at the moment I'm working on a really crazy one).

They go with these hoverklocki if that helps visualize things

So at the indirect suggestion of many LG posters I've finally watched the Mummy movie everyone seems to have gotten all hyped about.

The mummy herself is quite the qt and the movie was enjoyable although definitely weak. You really have to want to go along with it.

However, having seen it, I can see why so many anons are having impure thoughts regarding the upcoming CMF mummy and I fear for their safety.

If you had the space, how big would be a good size for a city block? I'm thinking 3x4, or 2x4. 2 wide seems to short, but 3 wide has a lot of empty space in the middle of the block. Though the road base plates are so big that the town would be mostly road with small blocks.

I'm on a project to remount the modulars on big plates rather than baseplates, letting me trim off all the waste space on the back and sides. You're right that road plates waste lots of space (and look a bit low detail), one day I'll build my own custom roads but I get that it's a lot of parts used.

I'd say 2x4, the buildings are too tall to see much that you put inside the block.

Maybe dual-purpose at best then? I'm pretty sure that there is plenty of well-documented, difficult to fake, evidence of the pyramids being built for the express purpose of being used as tombs for pharaohs. Either way, it's quite an achievement to have built it in antiquity solely with ancient building techniques and manpower.

Got a bunch of replacement parts from Lego today and decided to do some tests with the broken ones.
It seems like none of the rampant cracking issues are in any way the result of hamhandling your sets and are definitely caused from the parts themselves, be it the stress of staying connected, issues with certain colors or something entirely else.

The upper left part is one of those flag pieces and the thin cracks are the ones that developed over time while the thick ones were deliberately done by me by prying the unbroken half of the clip apart with my fingers.
As you can see they look vastly different and I've yet to see an example where the cracks looked like the purposely done ones.
The nougat-brown brick with clip, well, is a brown brick with clip which crumble when you just look at them - just a tiny bit of force and it broke.
Now the bottom ones are pretty much the same pieces (although the flag here is a triangular one, not the square one) but in a different color and I simply couldn't manage to crack the unbroken half of the clip like with the other two no matter how hard I tried and I also noticed that unlike the other two those cracks weren't clean cuts but slightly rough with the clip still being partially connected by small strings of plastic.

In terms of age, top left is from 2017's Ninjago Water Strider, top right from 2014's GotG Milano, bottom left 2016's King's Mech and bottom right from 2017's Ayesha's Revenge.

Thanks! That's one of my favorite stacks. That's an old picture; I've filled in the open spaces with 4x4 macaroni tiles.

Ninjago City uses the same window piece in the same orientation, but I sketched out my version before the NC leaks, and personally I like mine better because it doesn't leave those gaps on the edges of the glass.

You're wrong. There are many girls willing to put up with a LOT of things that you might consider "weird". The only thing is that you have to be successful or "chad" enough for it to not matter.
As funny as it sounds it's like those comparison memes where "chad" say something and it's super cute while if an average guy does it it is creepy.
Women work like that. If they consider you to be high-value and a good catch then they will put up with almost anything - starting from odd interests and hobbies and ending with absurd amounts of abuse and violence directed towards them.
So long as their inner biological drive tells them you're worth it - they'll put up with it. I've seen this so very many times.
Is this gold digging? I would say no - because women look for more than money when assessing a man's worth. If you are a man of worth women will bend over backwards, forwards and every other way to cater to you and please you.

Here's my suggestion what to look for if you want each fig. Not complete yet, some are tricky.

>Pizza guy - pizza headwear
>The mummy - scorpion
>dog trainer - dachshund
>cyclist - bike
>johnny thunder - hat
these are kind of confusing
>bear/blacktron/fox - all have headgear with 2 small things on side
>bathing guy/football player - very hard to tell apart
>granny/programmer - both have similar headpiece

I for one like your shots with real life environments. I would feel like that other anon, and feel pressured to make environments out of lego. But your pictures help me realize that isnt necessary to have fun with lego. Heck then I see lego's promotional material and none of it uses brick built environments either. Lego (company) knows it's user base largely doesn't have the lego count to be able to build environments. You can substitute with real life to have fun and build imagination.
