Normally after two years I think (goes for every set), but yeah, some sets, especially in the creator expert line, can exceed that limit by a lot. I guess they just really sell well

There's a new UCS model soon, 99% Star Destroyer. I think both will be on shelves for a while since it was such a big investment for Lego.

It's not worth it btw, helped a non-Lego friend build it and it's just tedious with a shit interior.

But you throw in a ton of blue, red , yellow, green and maybe some gold on some surfaces as hieroglyphics which double as the surfaces where you find greebling.
Tan is actually a perfect colour because no other faction uses it and it was introduced during the years of ufo and insectoids after which space took a break (or even ended, depending on what one considers space), so a tan faction would actually be a logical theoretical continuation in that timeframe.

Is there a real job role?
I went what color would do what.
In pic you can see that white is flying = pilot, red is mostly driving = driver, blue is operating science arm and equipment = scientist, yellow drives a tool car = technician and green is the later space cop color.
Honestly i just went with color coding, white = astronaut, red is like ferrarri, blue is always a scientist color, yellow is "achtung" color and green is the space cop color.

Might as well repost this. Maybe I’ll finally add to it. Or I’ll make something for Egyptron/Mummytron.

Desertron:
A group of explorers stranded on a harsh, uninhabited planet mostly comprised of a barren desert. In the heat they struggle to find water to both sustain themselves and cool their vehicles to keep them functioning. Thankfully, aside from the conditions, they seem relatively safe, as the planet is only populated by small critters.
Though the team’s main engineer claims to have seen insect-like humanoid silhouettes on the horizon. But that’s probably just the heat…

white, red, gold/yellow and blue/azure

Egyptian buildings were mostly white, they are tan now because of time passed but at the time of their glory they were white, decorated with colorful paintings. The tomb of Queen Nefertari (19th dynasty - wife of famous Ramesses II the Great) is one of best preserved and just take a look inside.

Also pyramids were covered in white casing stone too, with golden top.

I love desert-punk (the anime's good to). How about they're from a small society of ruin hunters that crash landed on the planet, and have been stuck there for a generation or two (think Trigun), and it turns out there's an ancient insect race underground hibernating for centuries waiting until the right time to come up while protecting all their re-terraforming tech and people from any potential threats.

A while back I made a Seatron faction. It's based on this picture here: https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/lego/images/f/f5/Seatron_Monorail.png/revision/latest?cb=20110102030019

The picture depicts the fabled SeaTron Monorail and since that's what the main build was supposed to be I'm going to consider the rest of the things to be "placeholder" and as such not indicative of the faction's true intent in design.
You can clearly see some Futuron astronauts there, and some ships but I do not believe that's indicative of the final color scheme.
Instead I feel the theme's colors would have been: Trans dark blue, yellow and dark blue.

At the bottom left you can see the "Number 4" guy - I think that's what the astronauts for this factions were supposed to look like.

I've tried to replicate them in my build, and also stuck to the colors I think the faction was supposed to use.
If you can tell what the "Number 4" astronaut is wearing on his head please let me know.

What do you guys think - is my take on SeaTron accurate? Do you have any more info?

I actually think they weren't translated that way. If they were, there'd be traces of those translations visible somewhere. Rather, I think both the scandinavian versions and these english ones exist separately.

Is there like an archive of old scans somewhere? I'd really like to compare them.

But no, I wasn't aware. I'm only gradually learning about this stuff now. It was the Benny's Squad set that got me thinking about legos again. It was so hilarious to see them on the shelf, because it's been over 30 years since I've seen those classic spacemen around.

Looks like an opaque yellow version of the aquanaut visors or a similar custom piece. They also made custom prototype heads for that theme's aliens.

You know what's funny?? Diseny has made some interesting SW designs, but they won't get released into sets. For example the new animated series. So many interesting ships and yet the only things from that we are getting are the two TIEs. Also I will bet my left kidney that we will never get the new Starhawk (an actual interesting design, yeah it's just white but the design is cool as hell) but instead just get another rehashed OT vehicles.

Picked up a huge collection of minifigures today. I bought it off a family member who got it earlier in the day. They kept about 30 Star Wars and probably a dozen various other figures.
He let me have the series 1 Castle & pirate figures. Probably a dozen early space figures such as black/mtron, space police. 20+ Ninjago figs and a fuck load more.

Absolutely without a doubt, sort by type, not color.

If you don't have a lot of pieces, it might seem like a good idea to sort by color, but you set yourself up for a big headache later down the road. The Lego General is full of people who complained that they had to spend a bunch of time reorganizing because they initially sorted by color and ended up realizing that sorting by type makes more sense.

I disagree. Wheels can be used for lots of things besides cars. I keep my tires sorted into a few separate size categories (large Technic, medium standard City stuff, and tiny Mighty Micros-size)

You know what I liked the most about Adventurers series? These small sets. You could get several small ones and spread them all around your room. It was much better than having one massive set. They also had huge variety of small sets.

Annon, I completely agree on the colour thing, back in like 2009 me and my family sorted all the loose LEGO I had at the time into colours. Big mistake, I’m still trying to fix it, today I sorted all my black parts. Huge pain but worth it, im gonna start rebuilding all my older sets and hopefully have parts leftover for Mocs.

Its the same reason you get steaks in family-size for one person.
You make more money to sell one customer one big package than trying to appeal or get many customers that buy many small sets. And complete packages sell better than plan and buy many small ones.
Even if you miscalculated interrest, if a handfull buy a big set you get more money if they bought one small set.

I tried sorting by color first.
It was a huge, useless disaster. The absolute biggest issue that sorting can help alleviate is pieces of different volume being all jumbled together, which color sorting doesn't address at all. Just imagine trying to find a red 1x1 plate in a bin of all red pieces vs in a bin of all 1x1 plates and cheese slopes.

Anyway, this is pretty good segue into posting battlestations. Everybody post your battlestations!

For some reason the protag was called Iku Avaruuspoika (finnish for "Spacekid Iku") which I always found odd, because Iku isn't a real name at all (unlike Jim).

I think the robot is built upside down. The proportions are a bit off and the arm connections are fudged in the drawing.

I got it as a gift from a friend and I'd say it's a neat build. I don't know why they put a tiny bathroom in one of the compartments, but I thought it was funny little addition. If definitely go for it at that price unless you're being overwhelmed by your own collection. I mean, it doesn't take up too much space.

Just got back from Italy. It was my first visit to official Klocki Store!
it has shit ton of build a figure pieces and A LOT of figs and bigfigs selling separated from sets.
But the coolest thing i bought was this dino mech sold separately from the set (i dont wanna buy an ugly volcano and boat and figs that i dont want and i already have a t-rex).

I collect and upgrade klocki mechs so adding this fantastic mech to my collection is awesome!

Good choice, that mech is incredibly dope.
I like how they used the og explorerer colourscheme to make something original and WILD instead of just nostalgiabait models of things we've seen before. Both toyish and realistic in a sense.
