I take minifigs I don't want / need and sell them off in little bundles on Ebay, really saves money and doesn't take too much effort.

Not bad but aren't these little too 'massive' for minifig? Cadillac could be 2 plates lower to get that flat landyacht look they are known for. Pickup seems to be twice higher than a standing minifig. I know offroad cars are big but 1.5 minifig size is something I'd aim for. Again, it's just my opinion.

Well, let's apply some logic to this situation. We know that these things are true:

>The BAM bins at the Lego Store contain both exclusive recolors, and overstock minifig components from CMFs and other sets that are intended to be assembled with other pieces from the BAM bins.
>The BAM bins contain pieces from licensed sets (such as the torso for Snake from The Simpsons).

Based on these facts, we can assume at least one of the following statements is also true:

Browsing 90s sets I noticed that this one particular car was oddly popular among citizens of Lego City. It came in two versions - compact and convertible. Compact was used by civilans or road assistance but there was even Dakar rally version of it.

Any other examples of Lego reusing same car model in many different variants?

The four in-production ones will run you something like $750 total I think. Bank, Pet Shop, Palace, and Detective Office all run $250-300 so that's another grand at least. The rest run $500 to the moon. Good luck.

I honestly hated this design. It's way too short for a helicopter, with very ugly, nearly vertical fuselage. Check his bigger brother instead. Possibly my fav 4-wide classic copter, still simple but these side windows and 'waterdrop' fuselage design give it a lot.

I've built a few of them, it's more a money or not wanting to compromise on colour selection thing than it is stability, although there are typically issues with any build simply because they can't be tested for digitally.

The carrier has a solid internal technic frame (since I wanted to model the actual hangar space - there will be a cutaway at some point) so the hull should be sturdy at least, but I'm not rich enough to blow $7k+ on a model even if the parts existed in the right colours.

Tilted how? It's got a lot of odd angles, the landing gear is a weird tricycle design with the main gear having some sideways play due to technic pin rotation, and the lighting definitely wasn't centered, but it's not unbalanced or asymmetrical that I can think of (other than the propeller looking odd from some angles

Oh, yeah, I see what you mean. It's on a technic connector that doesn't have much friction, so it like to rotate sideways. Doesn't really upset the balance because the skids on the bottom of the tail fins ate what keeps everything level.

Super cute build Nice use of the mighty micros base and the pieces for the fueltanks. And in case the airtanks rub they also made a thinner halfplate version of that 1 x 1 with knob (albeit in og gray instead of lightbluish)

And don't worry about not building what you want. Builds usually kinda grow out of whatever pieces you have/know off and the specific possibilities you think up for them.

Would be odd but plausible that Sega is still sort of involved, but that didn't stop them from Sonic figures.
Maybe becausethe series is considered to have a 'violent image'? I dunno, it'd be kinda true. The biggest problem in the end imo is that the series is just 'too niche' outside of Captain Falcon falcon punching people in Smash. As much as i'd love to see another racing title I don't think it'd have the appeal of other mass-nostalgia phenomenas.

White is the old design, vertical bar is a little further out from the studs.

As to why, I'm guessing it didn't cost much to correct a minor error when a set of old molds ran out. I can see how adding up to 3 plates when combined with the female version (brick with clip) is 'neater'.

This is kind of the opposite of ending up as a mech, seeing as it can't transform.

The sloped pieces are attached to a black one of those 1x1 knob plates (basically invisible thanks to my phone camera), this gives it a footprint of exactly 2x2. This fits nicely in the mighty micros fender piece.
On a related note, the pieces that make the "head" are not attached to anything. They are only held in by the smokestacks, It's an exact fit and they don't rattle.
With enough fiddling, you can get the canisters in a position where they don't rub, but it's not easy.

Does anyone else get precious about their creations? I used to find it impossible to break stuff up, but now I just recreate them in LDraw and push them to a git repo. This way I can always rebuild at a later date if I regret it. I'm halfway through "digitizing" the breadsmith, once that's done I'll have a bunch of grey available.
Since LDraw is just plain text, version control sort of works for digital first mocs. It would be interesting to see if a larger collaborative project would work. Open source lego sets would be cool.
Any other anon's have strategies for moc archiving?

Also I cannot unsee the fact that the tail parts on that plane are connected with just one stud. I am a very structural-stability focused person, it's very hard to look at and accept that others can build less than "brick strong" builds.

As for Moc archiving I did the same with LDD for smaller ones, but the bigger ones I'm too lazy to archive. Also I'm not really happy with a lot of them and probably won't rebuild them ever. A few pics from different sides feel sufficient.

Cool to see you made that medieval cornershop, that little striped sun scaffolding and brickbuilt segmented window is super cute. The very compressed proportions have a very nice toy/videogame feeling to it!

I just move on. No regrets, nothing. When I need parts, there's nothing stopping me from tearing other creations apart. It's LEGO, it's meant to be assembled (unless you are talking about glued stuff in LEGOLAND) and rebuild all the time. I rarely keep MOCs, if I was able to make something once, then I will probably be able to recreate it with improved version anyway.

OK here you go anon. These are some of the newer ones that haven't been photographed much. I just remembered why I try to never shoot on a white backdrop. Yuck!

A lot of my hoverklocki are based on marine life, but #5 is based on a tractor, specifically the Minneapolis-Moline G-series.

That's actually very understandable to me, I planned to use my Flickr mostly as an archive for myself, with the added bonus of sometimes getting some nice comments and hopefully giving others some ideas. But due to the permanence of it I always feel like I have to put more effort into taking pics than I really want to and keeping it updated becomes a bit of a chore.
Posting my stuff here feels less final and If my pic isn't that good or a piece is misaligned, then so be it and it'll be forgotten within a few days.

That said you shouldn't worry about the quality of your pics imo, aside from some harsh lighting they're pretty good.

Nordstrom shipping boxes. There are various sizes, I've got ones that comfortably fit builds from 200-2000 part count.

The important thing is that the structural flaps are at the back corners of the box, not the bottom, so you can store loose pieces in them while waiting for the other bricklink orders, without worrying about them falling out or getting stuck under flaps.

Thanks anon but most of it is just forcing myself to build car after car until I started to not suck as much. Top pic was the best I could do five years ago; bottom was made this summer (still a wip obviously). I like to look at classic hot rods and muscle cars whenever I see them, and old tractors too. They make great inspiration.

This is Ninjago's fault. We got the hood with hair poking out and everyone goes crazy. They even reused the mold for that Red Riding Hood. Y. I miss them and they are so rare now. I remember using this one to create WW2/Africa Corps style trenches diorama. Square hole was for commanders, the rest of soldiers were in that L-shaped one. Adding some fences and stuff.

Have to say, this looks like THE falcon to get, even tough it's Nu-Star Wars. The UCS falcon is way too expensive and WAY too big to be able to display properly. This looks really nice, happy that they finally managed to get rid of the gaps in the hull.

Something that has always bugged me about the Falcon and SW freighters in general. There never seems to be much room dedicated to actual freight. Between quarters, commons area, cockpit, and engines there's not much of any room left for any kind of cargo.

Yeah there's a little cargo pod that goes between the front forks but that won't hold much.

I remember reading somewhere that it's actually meant to tow / push a string of cargo 'barges' like a tractor, hence why everyone assumes it's a slow piece of shit.

Maybe it's just me, but I honestly like how modifiable the Falcon looks. Would be fun to really outdo the interior by adding a ton of stuff, fix up the side panels on the forks at the front by using clips at an angle to give it a fuller look, and more. I'd go for the Falcon during the battle of Endor when there were a bunch of rebels hanging out in it.

Not him, but I loved BURPs and baseplates as a kid for exactly those reasons. You can quickly build a decent looking castle/mountain/building/etc and don't really need to be talented.

Now that I'm older, I'm less keen on BURPs (they make good starting points, but a row of the same BURP piece looks bad) and I'd much rather prefer to build rather than use a baseplate.

For reference, in line with my space base build, the floor is intended to be light bluish-grey tiles, but I'm running too low to make it so. So I'm building what I can, then transferring the build to a sort of black bordered, grey blast pad.

This is not representative of the final build, as I do have SOME sense of colour coordination.

Thank you! I'd like it a whole lot more if the bricks behind it weren't so aged. I might get some of the wall element pieces, and rework it. If my License Shit self was taller, I'd ideally like to make a launch way for my bigger Classic Space inspired ship, but it's slightly too long for that.

I might just dump money into various greys, blues, and trans yellows. (Yes, my wallet just flinched)

That said, I know a Lego dealer who does an absolute steal on brick bags. Easily half the cost of on-line ones. I got a good few classic space specific bits from his bundles.

Since there are a few pieces there that would probably be too high priced to produce, I'm okay with them substituting for new pieces, you know?

Like, let's say, the vessel's bow, it seems to be a piece that wouldn't need to be remolded, specially because the Pirates of the Caribbean sets do have a similar piece.

I wouldn't have a problem with that part of the hull updated in the "remade" set. There's even a part like that in this new pirate set. If not very similar, they could be the same.

That blue botanic high priced piece is not being produced... but the element, itself, never stopped being produced, it's just a change color thing.

And then there are the sails, which is probably not a real problem, since they continue to produce clothed elements, like the ones from these set:

I thought so. I believe it wasn't even an in house thing, some can clarify me on that? I think it was a third party that produced these baseplates.

IIRC Bayer made the raised baseplates. AFAIK they were discontinued for cost cutting and fragility reasons.

Been a while. I'm not sure if any of you remember a grey X-wing posted here some time ago. I still haven't fully finished that but I started on something else anyway because that's how i roll.

Lander 2. This thing is a beast. 20 metres long, it doesn't look it in the movie because the mockups aren't quite 1:1. Luckily the cheese slope angles are just right to get the geometry on the cockpit front spot on. The rest is going to be a bitch to figure out, but fun.
