I think they're bootlego because the shoulders are too angular for Lego minifigs, and the CMF bases are clearly knockoffs because the studs are flat and don't have the LEGO logo

Rebuild anon here. Thanks to /lg/ Adventurers nostalgia (I can't believe Johnny and the pack are over 20 years old already) I started rebuilding my sets. Here's update and progress so far. Previously finished Johnny's car, so it's not included.

While Johnny had headstart in the race to the Ruby (I finished his car much earlier) his arch-enemy is almost ready to go too.

I found many missing pieces such as guns and pins to attach them. Baron has a hook and white epaulettes now as well.

As you may or may not know, for some reason Baron's plane never had any kind of steering in cockpit. I don't know why LEGO didn't include a simple steering wheel or just a stick but this way there's plenty of space in it and I think it's a perfect place to store Baron's pith helmet. It wasn't included in this set but since Baron is wearing it almost all the time, I decided to put it in there. There's enough space for other small items too.

While I'm generally pleased with results, I can't say it's finished yet. There's one tiny dark 1x1 plate missing on right bottom wing. It's ridiculously rare piece for something seemingly that simple. Maybe I will find the last one, maybe not. Bricklink'g it would be stupid and not really worth the cost.

This mini figure makes me angry. Not because I have anything against it being a license or what the license is, even though I do hate licenses in Lego, but because this hair is absolutely perfect for if you want to do a female fig with no volume or the like in her hair, but it ONLY comes in that red brown because it’s a new piece. And I highly doubt it will ever be used again.

Aight, I managed to find one of the last SC sets I wanted and I was missing. I got it quite cheap in fact, from the local equivalent of craigslist etc. we have here. The seller was some lady who didn't bother with any external shipping materials for the set, it just was shipped as-is! Fortunately it didn't break. Also there were post office stickers on the front. Do you have experience of people doing this?
Now I just have to keep my hands off of it for 2+ months, since I'm going to gift this set to my dad at christmas. Setting up a tradition here, last year I gifted him the Ford GT40 + GT set and we built it together. Quality times. So I had to 1-up it this christmas.

If that hair doesn't get used on a Ginny Weasley figure in the harry Potter line I'd honestly be surprised. You never can tell what LEGO will do with any given piece. I'm really curious if we might see the supposedly cancelled Overwatch sets after all.
Apparently the Wrecking Ball and Junkertown ones are selling like crazy, I just got the last Junkertown one in my Lego Store and Wrecking Ball was sold out for a few days. Spoke a bit with the manager and she said she was surprised about it too, especially Wrecking Ball is apparently selling really well, with 60 sets sold on the first day.

The idea to base things on the maps and payloads was interesting to start with, but it's clear to me Lego should have just stuck to small playsets and display pieces, which is why Bastion was probably the best set of the first wave, and why these two new ones are even better. I would imagine an Orisa and a Zenyatta would sell incredibly well based on the pieces they'd offer alone.

I think you're onto something, from what I heard Reinhardt and D.va were the best sellers from wave 1, followed by Bastion. Seems like sets based on or around the characters do sell the best

honestly, probably not that much. The two most comparable ones are the fishing shop and the treehouse, both of which turned out to be very close to the original idea and Lego doesn't seem afraid anymore to make Ideas sets fairly pricey if needed.

That has got to be the worst Lego set I've ever seen. It's mostly technic and special parts that have limited use, and they're in sand green, a feminine color. On top of that, you don't even get a real figure. Instead you get a hamster statue with no articulation. The hamster looks like some cheap junk you'd find in a bubblegum machine.

I love the use of sandgreen as corroded copper personally. I think it would also be a good colour for older english cars that got a faded patina of sorts.
I remember being kind of peeved around the early 2000s and just coming out of my darkage many years later. There were so many 'too specific' colours in my opinion as i was so used to the palette of yellow/red/blue white/black/gray green/brown.
But now i've learned more about what Lego pieces are made and are available i've embraced them as a larger pool of options and a challenge.

Starting with a big pile
Pick big parts first
If you already have your part categories sort by those
If not, sort into many little piles.
Combine little piles in a way that makes sense to you so they fill one storage unit.
Its easier for the eye to find a color than a shape, so no color sorting.
Its hard to search for a small part when there are big parts in the same drawer
For small parts use sorting inserts
Don't put verry similar parts in the same insert

First thing I did was sorting out all the 1x1 pieces and sort them by type (tiles, rounds, clips etc.) Then I went consecutively bigger. The biggest pieces can stay in the large container as you can easily discern them at the first glance.
Sorting by color is only a secondary consideration as it's easy enough to tell red or yellow pieces apart even if they are lumped together. If you have rare colors that might get lost in a big pile then put them in a separate compartment.

Huhhhh. But here we can see that whatever makes sense to the person doing the sorting (and, by extension, the one building with those parts) everything can work. The total amount of parts also isn't very high here so it's good to combine different types.
I personally put all plates and tiles with clips together.

I kinda use this guy's method, and then I sort into tupperware, and ziplock bags. I also have tons of unsorted large tubs, and some drawers for minifigures, ziplocks, and common use parts. I also have some translucent craft sorting boxes for technic pins and bits, other small parts, minifigure tools, etc.
See-through bins and a label maker make finding parts pretty easy, honestly. I wish I had the space to sort everything into their own drawers along a wall, but my method works for me.

So about a month ago I qualified for the juice bar, and took them because its free. Except when I looked at them they're boring looking and the minifigs are awful. The ghost is just a normal city fig with a ghost head and hair, and the girl's design is horrific (double denim, seriously?). Why are so many guys here hyped about it? That's the idea. I'll give you a quick run down but I can answer more questions if you have any. First you type your name. That's the 1x3 brick. Then basically you can make whatever you want for the torso. The order from lowest to highest layer is torso prints, drawing, stickers/icons, and text. There torso designs can only be one per side or none. They have mostly City, but a few pirate and Castle ones. Then you can draw with most of the Lego colors. There's a few brush sizes, but it's a little hard to use. Then it's stickers. You can make them bigger or smaller and move them. You can also add as many as you want. The last part is text and you can change the size, rotate, and move it. Text is the most versatile. You again get as many text boxes as you want. The big limiting factor is that text covers everything and stickers cover drawing and so on. You just have to be creative to work around it. My design is a flannel shirt front and back. Then I drew the over the shoulder strap then added the key and then belt so it was tucked in. Then I used text for the belt on the back because it didn't have a matching back sticker. Hope that explains enough.

Bought a batch of the Ninjago Movie blindbags. Was primarily hoping to get citizens to fill help fill out Ninjago City/Docks and more Shark Army guys.

I think you'd have to go up in scale, to something like the Creator Mustang, to really pull off the Lincoln without stylizing it too much.

Just finished building the SC F40. What a fun little car. Don't know how to feel of the extra parts to change the look, but they're neat alternative. Maybe looks cool but it's a very shitty design. Rear wheels fall off all the time. They are literally attached by 1x2 plate with extra hinge. It adds weight to the whole section and makes it very fragile..

I own one. My dad was visiting one day and liked it so much he went and got his own (we used to launch replica Sat V's about this model's size when I was a kid).

The detail is great, the size is perfect, the piece count is right on the nose, the price is great, it's a fantastic display piece, and being able to display it in sections is pretty neat, too, which also happens to help with transportability.

There's nothing wrong with it at all. Get one.

If i did that, my 120 euros load would be 45 euros.

My poor justification is this:
I really like all kinds of rare and wacky pieces in many little projects. And if I push back trying to buy all of those, just per one small project ata time a few pieces from all over the world (nobody has these all unless marked up a lot)
The pieces will eventually get even more rare as time passes. And I'd be paying 9000% upmark in shipping instead of combining things together whenever possible.
So i always check whatever piecs they have in my wantedlists. (and try to contain myself withing budget)

I've been selective like that for a while now. Too expensive otherwise. And i'd rather put that money towards things i make that i'd really enjoy. I don't really buy new sets all that much.

The good news is that I was able to reduce the price of the list of parts I had in mind by almost half due to looking around and finding a store that had cheaper prices and a better approval rating overall. (Also, who knew that sometimes it's easier & cheaper to just buy 8 separate wheels and 8 separate tires that go with them instead of them assembled already?)

Of course, I went ahead and started adding more stuff that I wanted along with the two little cars, so I ended up spending the same as before. (Pic Related is the car design, except the windshield/screen is Trans Bright Orange now because that piece in Trans Black is rare and the stores on Bricklink that have it know that and price it accordingly.)

Let's take a closer look: The Hidden Side Portal looks like a dark Harry Potter version of Aragog's hideout - but without a huge spider, but with a darker tree. Exactly this tree is supposed to represent the portal. Where will this portal lead? Maybe the light blue and thus frosty-looking treetop reveals this. But the minifigure of Jake is very cold. What's a little irritating about this set are the two fire ghosts - Nexo Knights sends greetings.

The two sets, numbered 70428 and 70429, could also be attributed to the LEGO Creator 3in1 team. Because the beach buggy and the stunt airplane come in the almost typical colors blue / yellow. Only interesting should be the double-headed spirit beach buggy set.

Ever since they released this I've used it with a lot of monster builds. Also it's fun to put in helmets and mascot heads.

Yeah, that's a piece that came in a lot of Nexo Knights sets that use the same windshield.

Got the Wrecking Ball set today and yeah, I can see why.
No shitty launchers, fun as fuck to fiddle around with, a simple but effective pop-up function and reasonably priced, especially for a licensed set.
My Lego store was also almost out of it, too, and I got the second to last one while the rest of the shelf was still fully stocked.

Yeah; I looked into several models before I got the purple one above. Ultimately, there were two main reasons why I stuck with the PowerShot:

>Low profile; every DSLR I looked at was too bulky to get right up to the pieces like I want

>inability to do extreme macro shots (i.e. closeups of minifig faces) without special lenses

So I'm kinda curious, how did you guys play with Lego when you were a kid? And how old were you when the swooshing and pewpews lost their magic and you entered your dark age?
I'm asking this because I always made some way to connect my lego universe to that of my friends. In the sense that everyone's bedroom or whatever was another planet in the galaxy, and I'd develop some way to intertwine their worlds with the long-running storyline I had at the time. And I recently thought back to some MOCpages groups along those lines, members adding photos and building on the total story with their individual touch. Anyone remember what the factions were called?

I still make the swooshing and pew pews even though they have mostly lost their magic. My good friend and I used to do that same thing though, our towns were both part of the same greater universe and we would often "travel" between worlds for adventures. I miss those times.

Johnny Thunder doing everything. When I was a kid I travelled a lot with my family, Greece, Italy, Egypt and more. So obviously wanted to recreate all that in LEGO.
Now I'm 26 and LEGO is kinda gone from my life (I still play around with digital designers) but Johhny is still with me.

It's a bit hard to decipher because of all the different gold parts
is it maybe meant to be a cyborg? The triangle tatoos look slightly techy, and while the torso print does look like some kind of open robe or coat there's something weird and metallic going on in the chest underneath

Mirrorless is a thing now if you want smaller, but they almost always come packaged with garbage zoom lenses, so you have to go buy a macro lens for /toy/ distances. Which is what I'm in the middle of trying to determine but there's also an issue of macro lenses being too 'close' and capturing details like scratches and dust.

Anyway, polarizing filters clean up any extra sheen reflecting off surfaces, but you need a threaded lens. I even have a semi-compact camera with better macro range than my mirrorless, but it can't take a filter. I'll try to take a comparison photo later, but I'm in the middle of organizing so nothing is built and my lighting sucks.

I never did too much of the pew pew, atleast never alone. With Lego i just really liked building things, cars, houses, worlds and characters with their backstory. I always spent more time setting up than 'living it out' so to speak.
I still do the same in that regard. Lots of time engineering and autistic cute backstories of my characters in world.

Mainly played with my brother. We did space exploration stuff and a robot market on the dark side of the moon. Not much by way of pewpews though. I remember using my dads recliner as a giant cave. Put the foot rest up and it was massive and hollow inside. So our space explorers walked on roof of the cave because fuck you we're outer space!
