Original asker here: It was the LEGO Dimensions Raven figure. I eventually just went for it, I have disposable income now and I'm going to regret it if it's sold out when I change my mind. I immediately went for a lot of other items I wanted to complete my upcoming display.

As for Mercyposter, dude the set she's from costs a small fortune. It's either Bricklink or gtfo with that expensive whore.

I'm also going to see if I can get the complete Nexo Knights shield sets, both Wave 1 & 2. Along with that 20 drumsticks/3 turkey bodies/20 eggs for a KFC pastiche restaurant with a Stella (Angry Birds) minifig as captive in a hidden room. The Chicken Suit minifig and the little Chick Skater minifig will be the mascots.

I skimmed through some old boxes in my parents' attic, and found some of my old LEGO sets, all with boxes and instructions. Including the Neptune's Lab in perfect condition.
Dang, my kid's currently 3, so I guess he has to wait 6 more years before he can get it.
There are multiple sets there. Some Technic sets, several Space Police sets, and my favourite - UFO ship, with those super unique, predator-like minifigs.

I'm pretty sure these boxes contain some deadly virus that my niece and nephew spewed in it. Almost done with the last box, after which I need to get smaller boxes and sort shit more accurately and the basic bricks by color.

At this point all the money I spent on new LEGO feels more like a reward for putting up with this bureaucratic antfuckery called 'sorting'.

I miss the Service Packs that Lego used to sell. I'm glad they're doing the Xtras line now, but the pack of cool minifig accessories, or a bunch of neat lighting elements, or a fistful of stopsigns and pedestrian crossing signs, were really helpful, especially living in the middle of nowhere where the closest store that sold Lego was 40 miles away and only carried the small-medium sets.

Pic related; I got one of the Lighting packs as a kid, and the POLICE, TAXI, and RESTAURANT signs have seen heavy use ever since. I was really sad that the lights themselves disappeared along with the battery box during my dark age. Of course, now there are modern LED lights the same size that don't require a wire and battery pack, and the signs themselves are pretty cheap on cracklink.

here’s the full cloth part. It’s folded like five or six times to fit on the tiny body and most of the inside is just one pillar connecting the head to the legs, to have space for the various folded layers. Can’t take a picture of that sadly, folding this and keeping it in place with the belt was a real pain

I don't know if you guys are already aware of this, but LEGO is polling requests for the next Ultimate Collector Series set for Star Wars and the options are the TIE bomber, the Republic gunship, and the Nebulon-B frigate. As the Republic Gunship seems to get a new set every 2 years, and the TIE bomber already has a couple, and this looks like the only chance at ever getting an actual LEGO set of the Nebulon-B that isn't just some cheap internal setpiece ripoff like "Home One" was, I strongly urge /toy/ to vote for the medical frigate.

I finally did it guys. I've finally built the set I've sought after all these years since I was five or so. Shark's Crystal Cave. And damn it feels good. Guess what? I actually swished this beast. In the meantime, I've been building aquashark mocs of my own. I wasn't going to show off this vehicle yet, but I think I'm stuck at the moment. Any tips? I'm having a hard time designing a good tail. Also I'm thinking about changing the main fins for something different. They are looking kind of small now. The bottom pic includes a temp tail, but the profile shaping of it is about what I think I want to build though. Any other thoughts on how to make it cooler might be cool too.

There's only been 2 version in the 18 years the ship has existed. That or the TIE Bomber are far better options and more interesting than the Nebulon. I could see the Nebulon costing a small fortune just because of the parts needed for whatever stand they'll implement to hold it up.

The chassis/lower hull is basically the same as the turreted version, except some of the flag is plate is flipped to accomodate the casemate plates.

Thanks anon, always appreciate the kind words. Got probably a half-dozen different ideas I want to make reality at some point (only two-three of which are the familiar yellow & trans-green heh); alongside the upcoming newest addition to the mining op is a Unitron-inspired starship for my Unitron squad. Forgot until recently that they'd been without a ship/vehicle of their own all these years and were freeloading with the Exploriens. Haven't got a pic but it's basically a flying monorail train of sorts. Because bolting wings onto things that don't normally fly is the best thing ever eh.

Your Aquasharks build is pretty sweet, best of luck with the tail fine-tuning. Don't see much in the way of Aquazone MOCs in general, always happy to encourage them, heh.

Some of the sets were alright. Some had really cute ideas.
That theme introduced a bunch of the curved wedges (and curved canopies) that are really useful for MOCs, so just for that I consider the theme good.

The final product is a lot better than the shitty images on the box but the build itself is nothing really to write home about.
It's the usual "let's cover everything in SNOT brackets" deal as most sets these days with no surprises.
The most noteworthy things about it are probably that it has knees (that due to the leg design are kinda awkward), those new slope bricks that were previously only used in the largest Overwatch set and not a single shooting function.

Oh, and one thing that I noted after building a bunch of mid-sized sets this year is that the rainbow-puke filler pieces seem to have been geared back quite a bit.
The Hidden Side subway station only has two but in colors that other parts of the build already use, the Empire Dragon has none and the Golden Mech only has a small amount consisting of four 1x2 plates in turquoise, two 2x2 plates in green, two 2x2 L-plates in sandgreen and two 1x1 SNOT brackets in nougat - nothing massive and barely comparable to something like that old Nick Fury transformable car.

SNOT just means "studs not on top", so all those pieces that let you build sideways with the most frequently used these days being those L-shaped bracket plates.
As for rainbow-puke, it's something that annoys a lot of people in recent years where the inside of a model is filled with bricks in colors that aren't actually used for the model with the most infamous example in recent times being the Steamboat Willie set that's supposed to be black and white but is stuffed with nearly every color imaginable.
The designers justify this by saying that it's to make building a model more fun and finding pieces easier but the actual reason is simply to get rid of overstock.
Personally, I can understand slipping a few pieces in here and there (it occasionally actually comes in pretty handy for my alt-builds, especially when it's smaller parts) but they often go completely overboard with it.

Got all the ones I wanted most in one go, even Batman who was incredibly hard to feel for for some reason (also got Huntress but gave her to my gf). It's still baffling that we got the og designs for Batman and the gang but not the Action Comics Superman. Also thanks to whichever anon mentioned that they're cheap at Walmart.

You made me look up the bp instructions. I forgot that thing existed. I wish I found this design yesterday. I'll give it a shot when I can. But design-wise, it's actually pretty different from my design and the one I was inspired by. In our designs, the inner circle pieces are just floating inside, not connected to anything. It allows a more compact design without any seams or holes. Mine is also more prone to exploding, making me question what am I doing with my life, go to bed, and cry myself to sleep.

Still thinking that one through. My main goal is to incorporate a nice helping of both Technic and System into the builds, but it'll take work to get that right. I might go simple for now and do something traditional like a bunch of spaceships, just to make the transformation easier and get used to the ideas. From there I might go crazier, try dinosaurs or something fun.

There were some nicer small-ish sets a few years back. The theme has gotten better as time goes on but for the most part is over priced due to using more plastic for the blocky aesthetic. The smaller sets tend to be less focused on structures and better value as result. I'm not into the game but it is amazing to have a theme with no stickers and focus on terrain instead of motorcycles, helicopters, motorcopters, and helicycles.

This wave's ninjas are very good, as are most of the villains. I like the concept of a build lite minifig pack like the market, but don't like how this wave has so many duplicates of 'unique' characters and no footsoldiers that vary slightly.

I think the minifigs are taking more budget from the builds. Both dragon sets seem reasonable for their price-to-parts but are underwhelming. The new large blade pieces used for wings is cool but without real wings the skeletal rear and mid sections really stand out.

I like the over all theme and aesthetic but wish it was less reliant on stickers. I'm not sure what the rationalization behind making a video game wave with two big wingless dragons and one small mech/jet, other than that dragons sell, but I wish they would get their shit together and make the dragon-mechs we deserve.

I think this one is the most "this should've been a separate theme" wave so far and shows how varied yet creatively bankrupt Ninjago actually is.
There's unlimited potential with a video game setting and yet it's still the same old bikes, jets, robots, dragons and asian temple, just with trans green and orange parts slapped on this time.

Really people don’t appreciate the kind of rigorous standards Lego’s hired designers are held to. I consider myself a good builder but official sets have to be really sturdy. Take any official set from the last decade and drop it from 5 feet. It will probably sustain minimal damage. Also you have to work in mechanisms for play features.

Here's a collage of the freighter, which was designed to be large enough to carry an as-yet unseen ROV (needs some fixing after a fall and laziness, someday I'll get everything together for new pics). For a while it was the largest vehicle in the operation, but the latest wip is going to surpass it, given its intended role. Not going into detail on that just yet, as I want to finish and make sure it'll be fully capable of fulfilling that role, heh.

Thanks anon, yours would actually make for a great set to get as a kid. Hope to see your team grow. As for sharkboy, yeah it's a harpoon cannon (non-functional). Uses the bazooka looking piece with an aquazone harpoon-thing jammed inside.

Also here's some pics. I wasn't sure what angle you wanted to see it from. I hope to make more cute little aquashark and non-aquashark fish critters. Picture also includes a new naval mine based on the Ninjago city fish. Still a design that's hungry for the parts I need more of.

Neat, thanks! I really like interiors and spaces for minifig use, but I struggle making a space feel like it serves a purpose or can be used by figs. When I was just getting back into lego, I tried making an subnautica-esque base, but it just didn't scream scifi or underwater-lab at all. Especially the interior. I had a lot of space I didn't know what to do with. I don't know if I should start building the exterior first or maybe start with building an interior before the exterior instead.

Which leads me into my other question, what color should an interior of an Aquashark base be? I don't want it to be just black, because it becomes to hard to see the detail you invest into it. Light grey and yellow make for such great colors for making visible interiors, and I think I'm "allowed" to use a bit of yellow, as Aquashark suits are have a bit of yellow. But I'm not sure how to utilize it to keep the Aquashark-vibe. Alternatively I was thinking of going mostly red, but I'm not sure.

I just completed Shanghai (21047) and Las Vegas (21047) architecture sets. The Shanghai set was definitely the better of the pair even if the Pearl Tower was a little underwhelming it was more than made up for with the crescendo of the set; The Shanghai tower.

I made a throne with a launch platform in front of it but I'm unhappy with the spikes (pieces to create the accurate angles dont exist in LEGO) so I'm still workin on it. It's hard when the whole place is like a flat surface, yknow? I have to raise the whole thing in order to incorporate play features.

As for the guard I'd love to include one or two but I have yet to see any good pics of them.

Sure thing anon! When I go about building something that will have a useful interior, I'll be thinking about what the vehicle's primary function(s) will be and build accordingly. This particular vehicle serves as something of a nerve center for the mining operation, as well as a precision tug for maneuvering other modules into position. One component I'm rather fond of that unfortunately isn't too prominent in the pics is the airlock/decompression compartment between the cockpit and command center area. With several of the modules I just couldn't work it into the design so they have to rely on an expanding Gungan-style bubble shield when entering/exiting (kind of a cop-out, heh).

Base-building is probably one of my weaknesses since I spend all my time on ships and vehicles, heh. I'd say think about what you would like the occupants of your base to be able to do. Communications and base defense stations, supplies storage, weapons locker, research labs, incarceration facilities, vehicle garages, crew quarters... just a few general ideas if that helps. One of the unseen modules for the mining op is essentially an R&R trailer for off-duty miners. Realistically it's too small for the number of workers on the job, but it's better than nothing, heh.

As for the color scheme question, it's really up to you. Personally I'd work within the Aquashark colors and their ratios as much as possible, which does mean a lot of black, with some blue, red, trans-neon-orange and possibly a bit of yellow, which as you said is technically present. Of course we never got an actual base for the Aquasharks so interior colors aren't an established thing, allowing for some wiggle room. Still, if the other faction bases are anything to go by, there tends to be a lot of the dominant trans- color, alongside the main and secondary vehicle colors.

Loving that naval mine btw, might have to "borrow" it heh

Apparently the reason sand red only appeared in half a dozen sets between 2001-2004 is because it was especially expensive to produce. But that probably wouldn’t be an issue any more

I build sets as I imagine Lego would have back in the 80 and 90s, so yes, with a lot of them I try to build something a kid would enjoy. I also build for sturdiness.

Their team will grow, probably in the coming year.
Using the base colors of a faction is the best way to make a MOC for that faction - I'd use a lot of blue for the interior. Maybe a bit of yellow.

That sucks, would be interesting to see that. Glad you're liking my builds, here's another one. it's primary function is the initial intake of raw materials: everything gets dumped in, robotic arms pick out anything of value and the rest gets dumped back out through a floor hatch. The vehicle can also serve as a tug for other modules.

Lighthouse and the little haunted fishing boat are the first couple lego sets I've bought new in a long time, they're really great. I think the pop up monster faces or whatever are really shitty play features, obviously I'm an adult but even as a kid I think I wouldn't like those, however it's easy to leave them out and the buildings themselves are pretty much really good across the board.
