The knees have always been double jointed, but it's a cleaner sculpt now, also they removed the upper bicep swivel leaving it only at the elbow, and the tail turns at the base.

Not him, but I'd guess he means NECA releasing better versions of their figures not long after people purchased the originals. I came across that when I shelled out about $200 for the comic con movie Ninja Turtles set, just for each additional Gamestop release to be better than the ones I paid top dollar for and had to go out of my way to obtain. (Donnie's belt having the ribbon to hold his staff, Ralph's teeth painting getting fixed, etc.)

That's not their fault. There's tons of people that missed out, and being able to draw people in with a re-release makes sense. And if they improve on it, so be it.

I also have the SDCC Turtles and I don't feel bad for the Gamestop versions being slightly different. I'm just glad that they were able to get out to everyone.

The old one on the left just looks bad with how low its comes in the middle, making the whole thing look too long as well as just goofy like a chimp and not threatening like a Xeno should. The Alien 4 figure has this too, but not as bad. The Warrior still have the best mouth sculpt tho

I saw a Duke Nukem at TRU that had a hand broken off, rattling in the bubble. They break when not yet opened. Naturally after handing it to the front desk and showing them it was broken, they stuck it back on the shelf to try to sell it.

A friend of mine received the Ultimate Gremlin from another friend and all the accessories broke instantly because they didn't actually fit. Something's going on in those sweatshops. I actually stopped buying NECA because I had so many issues with them breaking. I think a lot of people have this weird tribalism with toys (just like politics and everything else). They just don't like calling out companies for their shitty practices. It's well know NECA has some very bad quality control issues.

I only pick them up still becau no one else makes Predator or Alien figures that arent fuckall tiny. It's just frustrating how Neca doubles down on the shitty quality issues rather than trying to implement what seem like should be rather simple fixes to figures, even if it bumps up the prices a few dollars. I'd rather pay $35-$40 for a good figure than $25-$30 on one thats a dice roll if it'll break or have some other defect

I agree. If they could set a price that would guarantee quality control, I would start buying NECA again. I think a lot of it has to do with their factories and how the people making the toys, just don't get a shit. (not that I blame them, China has horrible working conditions) SHF, Bandai, Figma, ect, can figure it out, so I am sure NECA can if they actually try.

So I bought this part 6 jason in stores. Is it possible he’s a bootleg or just a defect? His wrists are completely unpainted and are green, and his knee joints turn grey halfway through. His box had circular tape over it and the hanger wasn’t clear plastic but instead cardboard.

The wrist there, yeah, looks like it missed a paint app. I would say return it for another one, but honestly that's such a small area, you could easily paint that up yourself with the required browns and a little bit of black wash, IF you wanted. It's probably just as easy to do a quick return.

It def. is. There’s a slight wash, like paint was there but it’s gone. It’s less noticeable than the knee joint. If I every find a better one I would consider a swap but eh, it’s far from the end of the world. Still a rad figure.

I’m extremely happy so far, and need that dock and rock set. I’m dying for a part 2 figure, and a part 7 (though I don’t know if that exists outside of like 2004 neca). This is my favorite current jason, FVJ is number 2 only because I don’t like how static he feels. You can get great poses but nothing too dynamic imo. Plus there’s no Freddy to pair with the damn thing (specific to FVJ at least).

They’re damn near identical. Nobody really knows how bootlegs from knackered come into existence since they’re so close, but the rumor is a bunch of people who work at neca just ran extra molds after hours with their own plastic supply. Phelous is super in depth with his bootleg zone videos, and this is a perfect shot by shot minuscule detail of the small changes if you’re interested.

That's pretty much what all the Lost Tribe were, just extra parts thrown together for the scene. They even reused the Gort mask unused from the first movie.

Yeah, as much as people rag on NECA for reusing stuff, for the Lost Tribe it is completely true to the suits used in the movie, since the Preds at the end were all made piecemeal out of the the City Hunter suits they used throughout the movie, as well as raiding prop storage from the first movie, and Stan Winston's studio for any unused Predator parts.

Though none of the predators are ever officially named in any of the movies (not even in the credits I don't think but they might have in some later movies) but the Lost Tribe had unofficial fan names for years but NECA didn't use all of those names for the figures. Like the Scout Pred here >>7968557 had been known as the "Lost Hunter," because in Predator 2, it used the exact same prop biomask as the Jungle Hunter from the first movie.

As mentioned too, the unused prototype "Gort" mask from the original Predator in the first movie was reused for another one of the Lost Tribe Preds.

Anyway, for the figures, it should also be noted that aside from the Elder, all of the other figures were on the City Hunter body the first time they came out. Elder was on the Jungle Hunter body. It makes me super happy they're redoing these guys, as 3 or 4 of the Lost Tribe are among my favorite Predator designs, and I sold off my original Lost tribe. So these guys being redone on the newer, more articulated bodies is great

So I just got my 1/4 scale Big Chap in the mail from BBTS... and the head is all banged up. There's what looks like a knife puncture wound on the back under part of the head, the front of the dome over the "eye sockets" is dented in and the mouth is slack jawed.

This is the last time I order a Neca figure online. Just don't get it, why can't they fucking care about QC like the japs?

Should I contact Neca or BBTS?

I buy all my neca figures at Target or specialty stores because every time I get one online, (I haven't selected it myself) there has been an issue with the qc. I'm not willing to take a chance anymore. I've never had this issue with Figmas or cheaper toylines. I had one issue with two Figuarts but that was once, with neca it's a constant problem trying to make sure I get the best (least fucked up) figure from the lot at a store.

I like Neca, that's why it's so frustrating.

I have. Amiami is understanding if you provide the pics and don't abuse it, but I've had issues with casting errors, misplaced paint on the faces (where the printing just went on wrong), and broken wrists, to name a few import related issues.

Nothing at all like that for me. Buying online or buying in person, and I buy a LOT of shit, I just do it and I get my stuff. I think the only "problem" I had recently was a loose joint I fixed up with some Elmer's.

I've had Mafex figures I paid $80 for with problems, $50-$60 Revoltech. I've got STATUES that I paid hundreds for that of fucking course had a paint or tiny broken piece.

With all this talk of breaking, I've only ever had one figure break, the Chrysalis Alien's elbow, which others had that issue too. Usually i get figures warped, wrong parts, or most commonly paint in the joints. If i try to move something and it doesnt, i just run it under hot water till it does since Neca uses a pretty soft material

I'm not the anon you were arguing with but to answer your question since I got the Big Chap.

I have well over a hundred Neca figures but I don't buy 1/4 scale usually. In this situation I love the Alien so much I wanted to get a big one. And I think they look so impressive they're worth it if only for one or two of my favorite characters.

I have the figure and I remember the problem being that the cut of the joints were shit, which is kinda true, since I can't get him in as cool a pose as the other figures. Although I believe a guy did break his shoulderpad and that was it. The same problem with Batman and Psylocke was that the joints were obvious and break the sculpt. I do have all 3 and I have to say I personally love them though so it's mostly a difference in aesthetic taste.
