B&R restocks are suppose to be rolling out now. Shredder and Krang 2-packs should be on shelves already. Now that ToyFair is over, what figures are you guys mostly excited for?

Same, I feel like the expressions they have are really too angry for the cartoon honestly. I mean its the cost of them being repaints I guess but it sucks that they are otherwise pretty much perfect representations.

I'm always down for Gremlins, but Tokka and Rahzar are top of the list for me. I only managed to get Leonardo from the first wave of Turtles movie figures, so Raphael and Casey are looking good too.

With the release of that Gamestop classic 4 pack I'm diving back into the world of vintage TMNT. Reclaiming some of my childhood.
Just a shame figures like Mona Lisa, Dr El, Sandstorm, and most of the Toon line are so expensive now. I'd love to have my entire childhood collection again. I even owned Scratch. But I'm not gonna get that deep into it. I've already picked up Bebop to go with my Turtle boys and soon I'm gonna pick up some more essentials, and some figures I have real fond memories of like Mondo Gecko, but I'll leave most of the variant Turtles and the more expensive stuff to other collectors.

They are pretty exagerated but I still like my SHF. This new toon head from NECA looks more like a vanilla goofy face. I just wish they would be released as just swap-able heads for the 7in figures. Unfortunately I don't think that will be happening as the heads don't pop off.

Well the body itself is an upscaled 1/10 body.
The neck and new heads could be downscaled with no issue and then BAM.

The only thing I envy the neca versions for is the more cartoon accurate font on the belt buckles and Mikey's motion blur nunchucks. Otherwise shfs are nice.

Correct, but they way they made the 7" scale turtles, the heads do not com off unless you heat it up. So more than likely NECA will release another set of turtle with these heads. I haven't opened up my set of bright green Turtles, so I may sell those if they do indeed put out new toon Turtle version.

Do you have no reading comprehension whatsoever or are you just unaware that the 1/4 scale has multiple heads?
Because the retooled neck is designed to swap heads, which when downscaled would just replace the old neck tooling, allowing for easier head swapping.

They will more than likely just release a new set of 7" Scale Turtles with the new neck joint.

I have to get the rest TMNT was such a big part of growing up for me. And loved the movie as a child. I haven't had any QC issues with these so far, the only thing I got was one of shredders shoulder sleeves was glued to his arm, I gently cut it out. So yes I'm in for the rest of these.

They have SNES Slash for the video game line, and cartoon Slash for the cartoon line. If you're looking for a toy version Slash you'll likely have to look into the Super 7 line, they're doing updated versions of the Playmates toys so I think NECA isn't likely to touch those.

They have MOTUC style articulation, you can see it on some of the prototypes. Relatively outdated engineering for modern toys but it’s still a huge improvement over the originals.

87 and the 90's movies always had a bigger following, and anyone who grew up with them is now old enough to have disposable income they can spend on collectibles. There's people who grew up on 2003 that are also now old enough to spend on nostalgia but 2003 never had anywhere close to the following that the earlier versions had.

The only reason 2012 has gotten anything is because it was made in an era where high-end collectibles were more common, and 2012 also played heavily into 87 nostalgia to begin with so there's some overlap there.

The only problem I see with it is studios who really don't give a fuck trying to gain sympathy points from the public. We should all be wary of this and keep in mind that corporations don't care about us little people.

The end result though, I do agree with. Film and TV in America have been majority white for decades despite the fact that we're supposed to be a "melting pot." People are finally stepping up to change that, so yeah, some disproportionately high minority casts are gonna be a thing for a while, and that's great. They deserve their due after all this time.

It's advertised as such but outside of the easter eggs in Splinter's trophy room the movie doesn't really have much to do with the original movies. It may as well be its own continuity. Even the trophies don't really fit, since Shredder's original helmet was rebuilt into the buzzsaw affair in 2 (and apparently mutated with him somehow when he became Super Shredder), and the time scepter was a smoking wreck at the end of 3. So apparently they just rebuilt them for the sake of keeping them in a closet.

Yeah, TMNT was kind of its own thing. It was successful but it never really gained a huge following, and I think part of that is because people were either more invested in 2k3 at the time, or because they saw it as part of the original movie series instead of appreciating it as its own version of the turtles.

Speaking of which it took me years to realize why Mako sounds so terrible in the movie. I thought it was because he was already ill and dying, but it turns out that a good 80% of his dialogue isn't even him, it's his understudy Greg Baldwin. I was always put off by the art style, dialogue, music, and just a lot of its stylistic decisions, but I've been giving the first season a shot this past week and it's kinda growing on me. I don't think it's a great cartoon but so far it's not terrible. I like Casey and they often do some pretty funny stuff with him. I like that he's a main character. I like the parallels it has with the first movie. April and the antique shop, the farm, etc. I like this Shredder. Hate this Baxter Stockman. I like these Turtle designs quite a bit though, even if they all look the same, for what it is it's a good design. I wouldn't mind having accurate toys of those Turtles. I like this first season more than I like the later seasons of the 2012 show anyway. But if I were told that it all goes to shit later on I wouldn't have trouble believing it.

I don't think I was overly smug about it, but I guess that's up to each person's personal interpretation. I personally think I replied with the appropriate amount of pushback and calmness to someone who didn't seem to have watched the show and was making claims based on buzzwords they'd heard.

"Shoving it down peoples throats" is subjective too. Here on 4chan, hostility and aggression are generally assumed to be the default, so anytime anyone has a thought that's not in line with that, it's going to be seen as "getting all preachy" or "shoving it down everyone's throat." Do you not see the irony there? It's just as insular and circle-jerky as the people you think you're complaining about.

Funny you should mention that, because Casey never actually appears onscreen with them. Even in the scenes where they're interacting, it just cuts from the turtles back to Casey and they're never in the same shot. It makes me wonder if they even had the turtle costumes available when they shot Elias Koteas. Maybe he went through this entire thing without ever seeing the wonky non-Henson costumes.
