True, but it was also when minifigs peaked, every profession had 3 different torso patterns, but they were still simple. There was a variety of prints for every kind of face too, women faces, moustached faces, everyday clothes and so.

How is it possible for a bricklink seller to have almost 400 of a relatively rare and expensive figure from 6 years ago and sell them for like $6.50 each? Are they knockoffs that look really good or something? This seller also has well over 1,000 orders and 100% feedback with ZERO complaints so wtf.

I would present a theory based on all the knowledge I've gathered. Lego makes lots of each figure and then they don't give them all away. If the figure was part of an event where Joe Everyman was in close proximity to the figure, he could pocket a few, but he might be given a box or whatever is left over. Basically the figure isn't that rare and this seller is just the only person to end up with them.

those aren't actually new, but they only came in two sets. It's on top of the trains. A great piece, but severely underused. I only know of it because it was featured on New Elementary, never seen it in any other context. It's great that it's becoming more available

One of the small minifigs from the big Nexo Knights castle was selling for $6+ on cracklink because sellers were parting out the expensive castle set to get him, but I checked and he was about $0.50 on Lego's bricks and pieces site (and you could order up to 200 of him guaranteed)

Case in point, these mammoths were something like $40 each because you can only get one of them in the largest Arctic set, but you can order them directly from Lego for less than a third of that. Same with the big cats; they're all $10+ on cracklink but they're only $6 each when ordered directly from Lego (and again, you can order as many as you want, up to 200 of each).

could just be be SNOT with regular tiles hiding the upside down plate that the 2x1 slopes are on. Possibly an inverted 2x2 in the middle, or just a regular tile, maybe longer, held by studs behind it.

I'm going to guess it's for an action feature, so they might have done techniques they wouldn't normally do just for shaping.

I like that they did a location set. The generic suit guy looks good but I'm sure the white print on black will be mercy posted. I will consider getting this is the panels aren't stickers. It would look terrible without stickers applied, and they are supposed to look too uniform to not have one of them slightly off. It really feels like there should have been a better option here, even a large vinyl piece would at least cut the price and look acceptable.

That can't be right. The whole reason the giant super hero and star wars sets sell is because of the exclusive minifig you need to complete the team locked away in a giant box set with guys and pieces you don't care about.

The one in the pipe starts the course minigame, then you get coins going over other spots until you reach the flag. Still unknown if there's any other 'rules' or if retards are going to boast about lining up everything.
The Mario also has a bluetooth connection, but usage still has to be revealed.

Me too, first game I tried playing was SMB3 and my first console was a SNES with the All Stars + World pack. I've been playing Mario games for 27 years.

As for what I do when something cracks or breaks:
If it's my own fault: pay for replacement parts on Bricklink or Pick a Brick
If it's one of the many, MANY cases of Lego's currently shit quality: bugger them and use their part replacement service to its limits and make them aware of how questionable their plastic quality is

As for the parts themselves, depends on what it is.
Something like a broken clip on a 1x1 plate or brick can be cut and sanded off so you can still use the plain brick.
Parts that become completely unusable like small flags end up in the trash or I dick around with them to figure out just WHY this stuff breaks without any obvious outer influence.

Compound hinging, basically. There's a pair just behind the canopy that gets the "V" angle from the front, then another hinge between each of those and the 4x16 wedges to get them to meet at the nose. The other pair are hinged directly to the first pair rather than the hinge block. I can get some screencaps if you want. Trickiest part was figuring out the specific angles - I do a lot of incremental stuff to get the closest fit possible

Amazon doesnt have this Lego set yet. Its exclusively only on the Lego website and not even in Lego stores because they are CLOSED due to the covid19 outbreak caused by China and Italy and Spain and all the other countries that Lego is probably shipping the Pirate ship to (and not America). Gave it a listen and it's good. I like this kinda stuff too. Actually I jumped the gun by classifying it as synthwave though. The parts that I originally jumped to had some synthwave influence. But there's definitely more there than that. I agree it's a challenge to find. It's hard to classify because I feel like this kind of music gets so many different labels, because there's no one scene for it. So you might find bits of it labelled under "vapor wave", "dreampop", "synthpop" or "progressive house" etc.

I've used it for years to order dozens of minifigs, accessories, rare parts, and printed bricks that only appear in a single big set. For example, last time I checked, every part exclusive to the Bookstore modular building was up on B&P, and I imagine when it gets up and running again, most everything from the Pirates Ideas set will be there too. Be warned that the prices aren't great, and they're actively bad for common parts, but it beats Bricklink for minifig stuff and those odd rarities.

As noted, though, the licensed selection is very limited. I've scored some droid parts and superhero helmets on there, but those were flukes. Only some CMF stuff makes it on there as well. It's mainly useful for in-house themes.

If you're really curious, google "nostalgic wilson b2026b" for a full index of the online catalog, not that you can order anything at the moment. If you already know what you want, take LQ's advice and phone in your order.

How do you guys decide what sets to buy? There are a lot of sets I find neat but I am not rich and I don't have a lot of space. I also don't want to become a lego hoarder who just buys a set and then it collects dust. That feels like a waste and I might as well then buy figurines. Like I think to get the most value out of your lego you have to build stuff yourself. For example I like this set because of how detailed it is and I thought that Ghostbusters is a good movie but I am not a fan or anything and I also am not really interested in building cards.

And how do you deal with LEGO FOMO? From time to time I see sets being sold for a very good price but they are not must have sets for me but at the same time I fear that if I don't buy it I will never find a deal that good again since sets tend to just become more and more expensive with time.

Not minifigure related, but I'd recommend some more base plates so you get a uniform green bottom instead of half green half shelf. A second 32x32 and 2 16x32 may work well.

For a while I had a list I would add to when a new set that interested me came out. I would list the set name and MSRP and rate it out of 5 stars based on how much I wanted it. The list didn't help so much as forcing myself to settle on a rating. Anything 1 or 2 star I wouldn't really add unless it was a very cheap set and I very much wanted a certain figure or part(s) but it would be hard to justify buying the whole set, even at discount. 3 star sets I would pick up if I saw for 20% off, but not really seek out. The 5s and 4s were mostly to prioritize spending. I usually, but not always end up paying very near MSRP for those unless they are huge sets and I know I'll see them for at least 10% off at some point. Some sets don't even make the list because I go to the store specifically to get them on or close to release date.

Practice is definitely a big one, and an sure an engineering background can help make something structurally impressive, but sometimes it can just as important to have those couple 'eureka' moments where you come up with a really solid technique or design that just really sell it.

Like for example with the MOC you posted, the little things like the offset tiles as cooling vents and the technique for what I assume is an air intake on the front of the wings.

Also don't be afraid to fail. Sometimes you will have those builds where you get halfway through and decide its dogshit, but along the way you pick up those couple techniques that you carry to the next build. For example I built this spaceship basically to see how the little engines on the wings locked.

t. someone struggles with comparing their builds with others, especially as I just recently came out of my dark age.

i have an engineering background so i think a certain way with construction and design but i know amazing builders whose background is graphic design or kindergarten teaching so its not a prerequisite.
ive said before on these kinds of queries, put restrictions on yourself or find a contest to enter so you have rules to follow. having a theme or a parts limit to follow will focus you on achieving a target rather than procrastinating over a pile of bricks.
and dont be discouraged, everyone gets better. my first posts online were definitely figs on a plate but ive come a long way baby.

I see he only came in two sets, both Jungle. The big one, Amazon Ancient Ruins (5986) at only 420 parts and 8 minifigs, is rather expensive (cheapest $199.00 on bricklink,) compared to the big Desert Adventurer's set, Pharoah's Forbidden Ruins (5988) with 668 parts and 10 minifigs. Pharoah's Forbidden Ruins can be had on Bricklink for only $145.00 and arguable looks like a cooler set.

Why is this? Because of the raised baseplate unique to 5986?

There were two different main time periods: a high-tech version of modern-day Town/City that blended Town and Space, and a post-apocalyptic future with pockets of high-tech remnants that blended Space and Castle.

The Town scientists had invented a wheeled robotic time machine (the closest I came to having a sigfig) and were engaged in efforts to cause the bad-end future to never come about.

The post-apocalyptic future blended Castle and Space, where the castles were full of Futurons fighting with swords and laserguns.

Pirates were a separate time period and didn't mix with any of the other stuff, as it was simply the shared past of the other two timelines.

Haven't seen it posted here yet, but the 2 lego minecraft summer sets we knew about were officially revealed. Redstone Battle (shown) is available for pre-order available June 1. Not pictured is the crafting box 3.0

Redstone battle is listed at 504 pieces (45£), and Crafting Box 3.0 had 564 (75£). Both seem over priced to me, but I'm not familiar with amazon pre-order prices. I really hope we don't see a permenate price jump in lego from the corona.

Eh, not really. Generally when playing with lego as a kid, everything existed in its own sci-fi universe. Everything had a fairly interesting backstory, at least for a kid. The friends I played Lego with had their own factions and such, and each of our bedrooms was its own planet. I actually had basically forced my friends' lego universes into the same universe, before that they didn't have much backstory to their worlds.
Invented historical plot connections between our worlds, any sleepover was just an interplanetary mission, etc. When it came to more fantasy era things like knights and pirates and such, it just kind of fit into the same universe. Different worlds with different technologies, different factions with different goals, etc.

Was forced to move a lot as a child, going from America to New Zealand at age 5 where I was introduced to lego; bouncing around so much gave me the story that a space colony was flung off into distant space, and were working their way back, or to a new home that could sustain them, so mixing sets and stories was always encouraged as "finding new locals"

There would always be a miniature city in a shelf in my room as the actual current colony, with my room as the main planet, rest of the house was a solar system (Living room TV the sun, little brothers room was a separate society dealing with their own shit unless we were at war) and outside was explorable -as-fuck outer space.

Shit was crazy when I got lego star wars for Christmas, and recall at one point I even set up a kaiju war against the interdimensional horrors of the k'nex
