LEGO Space Pirates. little is known about the theme, but it centered around low earth orbit piracy shenanigans.

In reality, this is my entry for the competition. Shoving the 90's pirates into a space setting is a bit of a cop out for creating an original theme, but the new Barracuda Bay set has got me thinking about pirates again.

I wonder if area light and clone army customs have seen their sales drop in recent years. Back when SW only released very limited new molds, they were super popular. I spent hours looking at all the figures on the wheels. Even played games with them, because the instructions last page always had this overview of all the different wheels with a star-rating or something. Swanp was the best rider. Still should have those katanas somewhere lying around

The Great Lego Space Quarantine contest of 2020 is underway.
The core concept is this: Design your own Space Theme. General guidelines are pretty loose, make something that could have served as a Space faction for LEGO in the late 80s and early 90s.
If you need inspiration and a sort of guide you can have a look at existing space themes from that period – Futuron, Blacktron, Ice Planet 2002, Exploriens, etc.

The rules:
1.Each participant may submit one build as an entry to the contest. A timestamp of your creation and the email I will then use to get in contact with you will be required when you first submit your build. To submit just reply to this post with a picture that contains your build!
2.Modern parts and complex building techniques are allowed but the end result should look like something that could fit in with original sets and themes from that period. The idea is not to try to give the guys at Neo Classic Space a run for their money but instead attempt to do what the guys building the Space set prototypes from the 80s and 90s did.
3.Bonus points are awarded if the builds are stable and have play features (although these are not hard requirements they will help your build leap/zoom/swoosh ahead of the competition).
4.A submission consists of one build of any size. That means very small builds do qualify. I have decided to make this change at the request of a poster who asked for this last thread and presented solid arguments. There is no limit to how big you can go but this is not Shiptember. The emphasis should not be on number of parts but rather on the overall result.
5.Adding lore and backstory to your submission is strongly encouraged. Heck you can even make boxes and put the sets inside if you’re autistic enough. More effort is always better.
6.Digital builds are allowed but will start off with a severe disadvantage when judged.

One of the earliest LEGO castle models produced was a retailer display model from a 1959-60 retailer brochure. This model was also seen in a 1961 British magazine LEGO advertisement. It was a white castle that fit onto two gray baseplates taking up an area of 20x20 studs. The castle, known to LEGO retailers as #0746 had four towers, with wavy LEGO flags on top of two of the towers. The word LEGO embossed on 1x1 white bricks were spelled out on the front of the castle on either side of the entrance. Use a bowl and scoop a bunch of pieces into it, then sort by type of piece (bricks w/bricks, tiles w/ tiles, etc)

It'll take some time but you can slowly chip away at it

This is the mechanism that I came up for shooting the cannon by extending it. Turns out the 'ball' at the back is the same width as a stud, so it has clutch with the inside of a technic hole. Moving the cannon forward leaves the back stuck in the technic brick, once you get to the full extent of the travel, the back is released, firing the cannon.

'Fleshies' for most people indicate a decay in quality and original LEGO content, a period where official licensed stuff (like Star Wars) started selling more and more.

No, I don't race war, I purge and convert. The only non yella fellas allowed are aliens and Lando. But I hate them for two reasons. One, they don't aesthetically fit or match at all, Lego people are yellow. Second, it's because it's when Lego changed. Baron was my 1st Adventurer. I had black plane and then small tomb set with Doc's truck following. That was enough to complete the pack, even without big sets. The girl joined then when I got tiny Jungle set with her and small shrine.

I remember plane had enough space to squeeze both bad guys in it anyway, while all 3 heroes could use Doc's truck, with one of them sitting in the cargo compartment at the back. Red stone was included in truck set and gold sundisk in small Jungle set so you were all set up. Extra stuff like camera and scorpions too.

This review is so full of nostalgia, damn. I love the way he introduced Baron via telegraph message there.

This is a pretty simple method but not quite what you had in mind.

Lego has made a few 2x2 tiles with studs on the underside that you might want to look into. That would solve your problem right away.

I had several variations of that design on the table. The print I went with is the spinning arrows. I have several of the same prints, so it would be nice to be able to use them. The solution I've decided on for now is to just spin the print to the camera side. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll keep tinkering.

30 fuckin dollars for two minifigures and some heads all because people "can't" ship cheaper than $5 for one part. Like fuck, half of that was just shipping alone now that I think about it, cuz I had to order from three separate stores. One jogger told me he couldn't ship a head in an envelope because it gets stuck in the sorting machines, when for work we mail documents thicker than a minifig head all the time in regular ass envelopes.

Going clockwise starting from top right:
-Brown chest thingy: Bootlego
-Gladiator Murmillo helmet: Maybe real, check underneath for the small LEGO logo. if real that's awesome anon.
-Wide brim helmet: Probably real. I have these.
-Helmet: IDK need better pics anon.
-Shield with eagle: Collectable minifig warrior girl shield. Probably real.
-Random melee shit. Probably fake, check the knife though.
-shield with indecipherable stuff on it. Check if its real. Maybe is.
-Brown woodshield: definitely bootlego.
-Red shieldshit: bootlego.
-Helmet crest: bootlego.

Helmets are all real (not too sure on the gold gladiator one though). Eagle shield is genuine and so is the small knife. Rest is bootlego but maybe put it on eBay? I've had bootlego in a lot before and 3rd party accessories seem to sell well.
