Funny that you posted this because I literally just opened this exact figure an hour ago. I was debating keeping it and the concept stormtrooper in the box but I opened them cause fuck it, who cares? They deserve to be free. I have a lot more trouble opening the 30th anniversary cards than any other though, the figures just look really comfy in there, way moreso than in TVC.

so i just got this in the mail from BBTS.. and it's great, besides the couple stickers you have to put on which are a pain, and for some reason mine's wings won't stay in the "flying" position? are they supposed to lock or something? mine just kinda shift back down after a couple seconds

I did that for too long. I now have a closet full of boxes that I have no use for. I'd reasoned "Hey, when I move, I can pack all my figures up in their original boxes and they'll be super safe!" but then I seriously looked at the amount of work that would be, and how much more space they'd take up in their boxes than they would all wrapped in newspaper and stuffed in one box, and then I realized my folly.

The sad part is that they're right. In spite of how much they may complain about repacks like the rest of us, their autism compels them to keep buying them because it's on a nice new card. They vote with their dollars and the only lesson Hasbro takes from this is "now matter how much they bitch these idiots will still reward us for doing this"

I 3D printed one. Still need to sand and paint it though. The biggest issue I had is that I can't find a completely hallow model. Just one that has the blankets presculpted in. I guess it's time to learn how to 3D model.

I'm thinking about making my own toy universe based off of the original concepts, scripts, treatments, and concept art for the sequels, which was all better than what was eventually made.

>In all of the early scripts to The Force Awakens, as well as art prior to the casting, Finn's character is named "Sam" and he's a white guy. Descriptions of Sam's character was said to be a charismatic Han Solo type character, who was a pirate who was a former Stormtrooper who deserted from the "Neo-Empire" and essentially was similar to Alden Ehrenreich's Han Solo, since Larry Kasdan worked on the scripts for both Episode 7 and Solo, and likely recycled Sam into young Han Solo. Sam as it turns out is force sensitive and witnesses the "Neo-Empire"(likely just a working name) kill some captured Rebels/New Republic soldiers.

>Sam encounters Poe(he's listed as "John Doe" in the script since they didn't have a name for him yet), who's a black guy and also a jedi who had a wookie side-kick in some production material. Poe is described as being Mace Windu like, and is drawn as Samuel L Jackson in production art. Sam, helps the captured Poe escape, freeing Poe and escaping in a Tie Fighter. Together they're joined by a small hovering probe droid named "Surely" who escaped being melted down in an incinerator.

I'm thinking of using one of the TVC Solo figures for Sam, since I don't have one and don't really need one. It's not that I hate the movie Solo, I actually really like the movie, but if I'm getting a Han Solo figure, it's probably going to be of Harrison Ford. For a movie it makes sense to recast, because actors age, but for toys I can have Harrison Ford-- so why wouldn't I?

Even within TFA, he had to cut her role down. She was supposed to tag along and go with everyone to the Resistance base but JJ realized he had no idea what she would do there so she stayed behind. As it is, all she does in the movie is give Rey some fortune cookie advice that she doesn't even really listen to, and give them the lightsaber. That's her entire purpose. She was supposed to be a yoda type character, and she had Luke's lightsaber. All that stuff was gutted out. Poe at one time was going to be downgraded and changed to a bounty hunter instead of a jedi, before they made him some Resistance pilot. Then they removed all the stuff about Sam being a jedi also, but kept the stuff where Finn uses a lightsaber. Rey also becomes less important if Sam/Finn were a jedi.

Ironically, TLJ is the only movie that gives her any kind of purpose. She's the one who points them to Canto Bight, so she kicks off an entire subplot which is more than she did in TFA. Then JJ is back with TROS and... still has no idea what the fuck to do with her, so she just stands around the Resistance base with nothing to do (the very thing he had tried to avoid in TFA) and just narrates some stuff about Leia since Leia herself can't say anything that wasn't pre-recorded. But there's no explanation for why she's there, why she even knows Leia, or why if she has Force talents and all kinds of underworld connections she's not doing a damn thing to help.

So the most important things she does are give Rey a lightsaber (that we'll never find out how she got) and send two side characters on a pointless side quest that goes nowhere.

What an absolute waste of Lupita Nyong'o. Turn her into a CGI goblin and then do absolutely nothing with her.

The only way TROS makes any sense is if you assume that Sheev's clone body also had a rotted brain. 90% of the idiocy in the movie comes from his inconsistent planning and just having some ideas that don't make any sense, so the only way TROS works is if this guy who had been notorious for his master planning skills managed to somehow lose those skills and is now making nothing but idiotic decisions. But then when Leia uses the Force to turn Ben good again, Sheev claims that she disrupted his plans, so apparently Kylo WAS part of his plan, so did he need Kylo to try to kill Rey and that would inspire her to come to Exegol or something? It's not possible. The problem isn't that Sheev's plan is convoluted, it's that the writers decided to change it up in the third act solely for the sake of a plot twist. You spend the whole movie thinking Sheev wants Rey dead, but gasp it turns out he wants her alive so he can tempt her with power and inhabit her body. Neither Abrams nor Terrio put any thought into how this is supposed to fit with Sheev's earlier plan, and they basically assumed the audience wouldn't care.

True, who doesn't love Ian's portrail of Shev? So yeah, i'd get his figure too.
Basically all i got from the new films are some Troopers and Kylo before watching TFA as i always enjoy troopers and bad guys in black capes. I wish i cared more about the characters though.

The Solo name was a stupid gag, but the issue with Rey Skywalker is that she names herself after a family whose only members she has any real connection to don't identify as Skywalkers. Leia and Ben both reject the name. She only knew Luke briefly and had a contentious relationship with him, and barely even knows who Anakin was. So her swiping the name doesn't really make any sense.

It's a lot like how Han and Leia naming their kid Ben doesn't really fit either, since neither of them had any real connection to Ben Kenobi, and hell Leia grew up knowing him as Obi-Wan. Luke is the only one for whom the name Ben really means anything.

That's not too unrealistic, they did show a bunch of failed clone things and Palps was pretty much undead. If it was up to me i'd let the brand rest for a bit with just series and such and, if i need to make a film after TROS i'd toss somewhere an info like "the sith resurrection cloning tech corrupts the mind beyong recognition, the resulting dark-side-spawn is basically a mockery of the original that only lives to cause chaos"

Hey guys, being meaning to ask your opinion: so not long ago i started collecting TVC, i only had a few BS figures and wanted to try a different scale. Turns out i love the little guys, how they are cheaper and fit vehicles (got the Tank, the Tie and and was planning on getting the AT-ST). Problem is with the whole pandemic shitstorm the (already awful) economy in my country went to hell and beyond and now buying TVC is almost as expensive as BS, also the vehicles are absurd and i just can't afford to imporr them, which sort or ruinned 2/3 of what i liked about it.
Do you guys think i should just go back to BS (they do have a lot more characters to collect) or wait for the shitstorm to end and keep on with TVC?
I don't really want to collect both.

The "Rey Skywalker" thing isn't quite so bad it retroactively ruins the original trilogy, but it is pretty stupid. Rey's relationship with Luke from what we saw was hardly familial. Her relationship with Leia allegedly was, but due to real life circumstances occurs entirely offscreen between TLJ and RoS. The only members of the OT cast she's shown really spending time with and having any sort of bond to are Han and Chewie. If anything she should have taken on the Solo name.

In an ideal world, characters like Maz would have had ties to Luke's rebuilt Jedi council. The reason for these jedis having scattered is because of Ben's fall to the dark side. In my mind, Luke's council wouldn't have collapsed as much as it would have dispersed and gone into hiding. After all, Ben is Vader's grandson, asking Luke to have killed him would have ultimately proved too much for him, he would have failed, and ultimately become disillusioned with the Jedi way as a result. Any order which makes it so that you must kill your own kin should they turn against you can't be entirely correct right? What's to be said of redemption?
Another character I wish they had done more with is Phasma. Phasma could have been the bridge between Vader and Grievous, acting as a grounded amazonian muscle of sorts to contrast against Kylo's awkward, emotional, and rocky transition into becoming Sith. An ideal Phasma would have provided the same presence Vader had in ANH while carrying with her the sheer killing capacity of the 2D Clone Wars rendition of Grievous.

Kylo is such wasted potential. I love the idea of an adolescent, punky, trouble maker who steps out of line and fails his way upwards into Vader's shoes. Because Rey poses a threat to Kylo's potential rule since she is now "the last Jedi".

But I think the takeaway here was that the ST was basically fucked no matter what. Both options for Episode 8 were bad, and now that we've seen the Trevorrow script, both options for Episode 9 were bad as well.

It's less implicit in the film but in the ROTS novel Anakin was feeling jealous that Padme and Obi-Wan were spending too much time together which sort of boils over towards the end where he accuses her of having an affair I think.

Rey being Sheevs daughter would have been a good idea if they would have actually let her be as conflicted as Kylo and used that idea for all three movies to its full extent except for only just hinting at Rey being evil and full of rage.

There was this one shot of Rey walking like ROT Anakin and it would have been great if they had worked off of that in TLJ culminating in something involving an evil Rey and good Kylo in the third movie by switching that dynamic earlier than the last fucking hour of the series. They basically have hit all the points anyway, just in the most boring, stupidest and least interesting way possible.
It seems all those moments foreshadowing her dark side like screeching in the Praetorian fight, the evil hole being ominously stretched across half the movie unlike the Dagobah cave that only existed for one scene, are not in there to show her dark side influence coming through but because the feminist commissars demanded making her look strong, not realizing that this comes across as evil, villainous behavouir in this universe. They never understood the Star Wars universe and only always thought about the reactions they could get out of people that feel insulted when you tell them they should watch 6 movies prior to having to understand a film with the number 7 in the title.

From the leaked scripts in September I understood it the way that Palpatine wanted both to be at Exegol at the same time so he could absorb all of their living force to become Kaiser Sheev, killing his only two rivals, solidifying his rule and become the most powerful being in the galaxy.

But then in the finished movie it looks like he accidentally absorbed their living force because they got to close to him, as if he didn't know it was possible.
So in reality he only planned for Rey to kill him in anger so he could posess her body and Kylo was meant to be betrayed from the start, only useful to get Rey to Exegol. Rey was also only able to connect the dots and wanted to search for the map after Sheevs resurrection was announced so Sheev hiring Kylo to get her makes sense.

Thing is he could have posessed Kylo from the start and kill or posess Rey that way. I guess he just didn't want to or was frightened of fighting with a sword again because he didn't do it in the OT.

They love their repaints but I need to remind you that both IG droids have subtle differences. IG-11 is based closer on the IG-86 from the Clone Wars which was a highly stylized, less mechanical version of IG-88. But it really doesn't. None of Kylo's actions do anything to lead her to Exegol. The only thing he ever does that in any way helps her get there is bringing his TIE to Kef Bir, which she steals after stabbing and healing him. Turns out he had the wayfinder in there, which she didn't realize until she went on her tantrum trip to Ahch-to. Even then, Rey was connecting the dots on her own anyway and had already found the second wayfinder so even if Kylo hadn't gotten involved at all she would've still come to Exegol. Kylo did absolutely nothing to affect that plan.

Think about all that happens in the trilogy, close to everything the characters do, villains and heroes, is eventually either irrelevant or detrimental to the given characters goals. The issues of every character can be blamed on their own shortcomings, not because an enemy does something that hurts their goals.
The longwinded Star Trek style chase, Canto Bight, all of Sheevs plan, actually deactivating the Starkiller shield are highly dependent on the adversary characters idiocy instead of an actual plan and on luck or rather the will of the force which is synonymous with the producers.

I feel like Rey should have been more like feral child. Not like over the top, but she should be slightly immature and be a little aggressive towards at first. The best scene in TFA is her by herself in the AT-AT shoveling food in her mouth and chewing with her mouth open. And through that you can introduce a real fear in her turning to the dark side cause we can see her get into a combat situation for noble and just reasons, but at times she gets feral and takes it too far. And Luke, for instance would be scared shitless by that. Anakin was raised under the jedi order, Luke was raised by a family. That defined how they used their power. Somebody powerful who was raised by nobody seems like an untapped idea that could lead to them using the force in more chaotic way. I don’t hate the sequels, but just seems like a bunch of new ideas were right in front of JJ but he was more entertained by small meaningless bullshit like putting Wicket in the movie or Chewbacca getting a medal.

I go to stores and toy sections and look in their clearance aisle for anything that looks like it could be a Star Wars character. There was this game a while ago called Evolve that got some passable action figures made by Funko, during the brief period when Funko tried making actual action figures (a tumultuous time with what must obviously be a tragic backstory, judging by how much work and love went into their design and how little work and love went into their production) and I bought almost the whole set of those to have as Star Wars figures. In the attached image, the Jedi chick is an Evolve figure, the smuggler chick is another Funko action figure from Firefly, and the big chick is some wrestling figure.

I've recently bought a 4 pack of Overwatch figures (for 7 bucks!) with a similar thought in mind. The heads are maybe a little too anime, but I can pop those off and put something else on.

Best way to learn imho is to browse the early works of top diorama artists out there. Their early works are very rough, lack the finish and are totally do-able.

On top of that it's unlikely JJ did full treatments for 8 and 9. He was vocal about wanting to bail after 7 (which he didn't really want to do to begin with and had to be talked into it), and he and Rian have both stated there weren't any pre-existing plans for 8. The notion of JJ having had a plan in place that Rian tossed out only emerged after the backlash to TLJ and people wanting to make Rian's actions seem outright malicious as opposed to just idiotic. The only source for JJ having had any plans for 8 was Daisy Ridley mentioning it in an interview, but given it contradicts what Rian and JJ himself had said at the time it's not clear what was happening there.

JJ didn't start claiming he had plans until the marketing for 9 started. At that point he went from "nah I didn't have any plans I told Rian to do whatever" to "no no I had all these plans laid out I planned this all along"

The design of Zeb as just an alien is fine, it just didn’t work for Chewbacca. It’s no worse than devil cantina alien, or the ghost cantina alien, or the grasshopper cantina alien. Well I actually managed to secure a Skiff Guard 3-pack for only $10 over MSRP which I am pretty happy about. So I guess that basically settles it then, may as well buy it. I'll be a few figures short for a while though since I don't really want to spend $80+ on the Weequays and Jedi Knight Luke isn't getting repacked until December.
