The gun had the ability to detonate shots once they reached a fixed distance programmed by the shooter using a laser aiming module in the scope. It's a very unique and cool gun that was well liked by the soldiers who used it. Unfortunately, due to complications with the US Army, the MX25 is no longer in service.
It's only ever been in a few video games but was a blast to use in every game where it was available.
Very interesting gun, I recommend you research it more if you have the time.
