my favorite dead theme of all time would probably be lego dino, the dinosaur size of dino attack was too big for what i wanted and the classic rex was too small, these dinosaurs just felt like the perfect size to me.

Anyone else just not really like modern lego? There just aren’t any themes I can really get into. I don’t know if it’s because I’m just nostalgic for the old sets and themes or what but I really do miss the old lego. The lego aisle now is nothing but license stuff like Harry Potter, Star Wars, marvel, etc. I miss all the old themes of theirs from the late 90’s and early to mid 2000’s. Am I just a boomer? That's how I've felt. Any time Lego puts out something Halloween or spooky, I go nuts for it. Monster Fighters brought me back in, and while I've only bought the graveyard Hidden Side set I plan on getting a few of this year's like the castle and the one with the lumberjack ghost.

I really like Alpha Team because throughout the theme's run you can see many of the changes down at Lego
>wave 1 has relatively normal minifig faces
>wave 2 introduces wedges and some weird faces that would never be used again (except the skeletons which nearly replaced traditional skulls)
>wave 3 has bley, minifigs with white on their eyes (save for Ogel who was the same all the time save for his hands), and changes every red thing the villain had for dark red.

What even was more of a mistake was how the handled that change. Not only new ice drones had dark red printed on their torsos, but had it in an even darker tone in order to introduce this spider emblem, so it ended up looking even darker against their black torsos.
However, they got it right with the Super ice Drone, the one with the Black Skull on the right. You can see his print is closer to the color of his arms.

Classic skulls because they looked like Lego minifigs' skulls. "Evil" ones were obviously odd.

Side note. Was Ogel's Army made of remains of dead lego people? I mean they are reanimated skeleton drones so I think evil mastermind would probably use corpses for that. Creepy.

Just people who are transformed by mind-control orbs into obedient drones. Who knows if they are actually skulls or just look like them.

Also the reason the Ice Drones chests weren't the best print may be to being rushed. Maybe they were the last thing to be desifned and produced, as some early Deep Freeze pictures have drones with their classic bodies.

You should probably look into parting it out on BL. It can be much cheaper with older sets, depending on the parts used of course. Some retired parts can get expensive. Not sure about that set specifically.

I only had the Deep Freeze Alpha Team sets (except Scorpion Orb Launcher) but knew something about the previous iteration by visiting the website in 2002 or 2003. It was weird to me how they were all underwater sets. The only thing remaining from the 2001 line online were the flash games and comic. So I didn't have much idea of what Alpha Team was. Maybe that's while I found the Deep Freeze redesigns weird, they didn't seem as shocking to child-me.
Then again Ogel's Fortress was pretty cool with all the stuff you could do with it.

My headcanon is that Ogel sends the evil orbs and these release a mutative mind-control gas, then the orb acts as some kind of array between his main base and the drones. Maybe the drones are not very bright, and in order for them to act independently of Ogel, he sets up a couple as commander or super drones.

I accidentally really clicked /toy/ on my way to sneedpost on /tv/, but since I’m here I’ll say the old west ones were my favorite. Gathering up a firing line of LEGO not-union soldiers and massacreing Indians was always fun. O grew up pretty poor but my mom was from a big family and some of my aunts and uncles were loaded. Through gracious birthday presents and handmedown sets from cousins I accrued a very nice collection through the late 90’s/early 00’s. What’s neat is that my mom was a school teacher and even as I outgrew legos she kept them for her kids in elementary school. Now I’m successful, married and got two young kids myself and there is literally nothing better and sitting down and building stuff with them, legos are so fucking cool for kids.

Yeah. Cars weren't really that strong point of LEGO. New designs have much better proportions (apart from Speed Champions which for some reason are way off) and overall shape. The worst cars were ones LEGO used in early 2000s with one single massive chassis piece. These were awful.

Man did hey look neat in toy stores. Like this one which had by the entrance some shelf cabinet specially for the Knights Kingdom ones, with a picture in the background showing the combination of the sets with the shining armour pieces.
Though this was by 2005, already a dead subtheme, so it was the shelf for all small sets from every theme.

I'd like to say we will, every now and then a passion project gets through. Space Police III wasn't too long ago, and the effort and soul that went into those sets was immense.

Well, I think it’s pretty likely they won’t be making any new police-related themes anytime soon, for obvious reasons. But I’d really like to see new Space Police at some point. There’s so much potential for cool vehicles, like the ones you posted.
