What's a good Psylocke figure to potentially replace the Revoltech one? I impulse bought her last year and ended up being underwhelmed, primarily with the stiff joints, dysfunctional eye gimmick, and her faces constantly falling off. Would the Marvel Selects be any good? Or that Legends one in the amazon 3-pack? Different qualities I know, just curious I suppose.

I forget which other ones, but they're probably minor characters i'm not a big fan of.
I'd include Dr Strange, but i won't, because i want to replace him with Mezco's One:12.

Personally, I don’t like the Hasbro or Toybiz iterations of Sabretooth and Juggernaut. I’ve stuck with the Selects for those. They have the look but I’ve accepted the articulation is trash.

Paint is exceptional on Toy Biz's. Shading, highlights, and real eyes. Flesh paint where needed. They're not cheap looking glossy plastic toys like Hasbro's.
As a big MU fan, seeing the MLs look barely any better than Hasbro's 1:18 is really really disappointing. Paint is practically the same quality and they're not all that more detailed neither.
This is why i've mostly just switched to collecting Mezco's figures instead, because Hasbro doesn't cut it 90% of the time.

>>8603560 >Hasbro's Sabretooth (both the 1:18 and one of the 1:12) > Diamond's I'm just not seeing what you're seeing then because the Select Sabretooth looks as though he was pretty much ripped from Jim Lee's artwork and the Legends looks like a gangly, janky approximation. I could only see preferring the figure on the left if articulation trumps all for you, and even then that articulation is a mess by today's standards.
I could understand preferring some Toybiz figures for their more intricate paint, more unique sculpts, etc., but for the particular image you posted you have to be intentionally ignoring problems to prefer the Toybiz version.
Anonymous
>>8603567 oh, i don't like the one on the left either.
Just chose that image because it shows the vast differences in paint and how the Hasbro one looks great despite the size difference.
Big difference with their Omega Red too. Aside from the rubber armor paint's going faint, it's waaay better painted, making him look sickly and the cherry red metallic armor was amazing.
Whereas Hasbro's barely looks better than their MU version, which actually had shading. Nevermind the shit effort with the tentacles, which are just thin hard plastic. Nevermind the reuse of that body.
Very lazy efforts when compared to the more quality lines.

I think you're confusing the cartoon with Jim Lee's actual artwork.
That Diamond Sabretooth is extremely cartoony. So cartoony, i can't even say it was based on the TAS. Could be Jeff Matsuda's XFactor Sabretooth or maybe some Joe Madueriaera's version i don't remember.

>>8603629 Just buy a paint set and learn thin them. I'd only go with gundam markers if you want some metallics, and even then you should brush it on.

>>8603629 I wouldn't recommend them. The paint from gundam markers is fine but not when applied with the marker itself, usually. Just stick to cheap walmart acrylics. You'll get a lot more bang for your buck.
Anonymous
>>8603629 they'er shit.
The felt tip is awful to work with and will leave streaks.
Most real paint markers aren't meant to be used on plastic either, so i'd stay away from them.
Actual paint and a brush is best way to do it. Go to a hobby lobby and any ol brush will be better than a marker. They also sell Vallejo paints, which are a quality acrylic brand.

>>8603629 gundam markers are the best
it bring out the details and good for small touch ups
Anonymous
>>8603657 If you're just touching them up, you MIGHT be able to get away with just adding paint straight from the bottle.
But a proper thinner for Vallejo paint is just cheap alcohol and water. 50/50 ratio added to your paint where it's thin enough that it brushes translucent on paper/pallete
When painting, you want to add your color on layers, so it'll take you 2-4 coats before you get a satisfactory finish.
Most acrylic paints behave the same way. Japanese brands are a little harder to thin, because they evaporate too fast. I would not recommend a Japanese acrylic if it's your first time.
If you go with some other paint type, like enamel, you'll need a proper enamel paint thinner. Shit smells toxic, because it is, so you'll want to use it in a well ventilated area. I have masks for them. It's much more durable than acrylic, so this is the stuff you want to add to areas where the joints will rub together or will experience heavy handling.
Oil paints are great if you want to weather with. You can go straight from the tube, but you'll need very little. ilke a dab onto your brush and then you brush that shit off onto a paper or napkin until it barely shows up. Then you add that to your figure.

The yellow around the straps on his legs is also sloppy. But I personally don't have an issue with anything else. Some say he's too bulky for most depictions of Scott but most of the time Jim Lee drew him bulky and that's my vision of him. He should be taller, but he's about the same height as his ML counter part and I'm not a stickler for height as long as it's close enough. You can also drop his hips for some height at the cost of gaps in the groin. If/when you do get him, be careful removing the visor piece. It's really tight in there at first.

>>8604416 I'd say it's because of two main factors, the first being economic, trying to find stable full-time work, or work that pays enough (wage stagnation) to afford housing, is difficult. In Australia both Superannuation and welfare assume that you are either living with someone else (be that parents, friends, or in a relationship).
The second and I think main reason is the increased infantilization of younger people. Everything about the world has become tamed down, softened or removed, to protect the sensitive feelings of younger people.

So that's why it's no longer an option to go to school, then get a decent job, work hard and save up to buy a house. damn.. MODOK will be the second marvel legend I buy. just like with J Jonah Jameson, it's a figure I don't see import companies doing, and even if they did, I don't see them improving on it (with the former, the articulation is hindered by the design so it's all about the look; with the latter I don't care about high-end articulation)
