Just got TVC RO Vader and Giancarlo. Gideon is a very nice figure but the paint on my darksaber was fucked up unfortunately.

TVC Armorer should be coming in from Amazon soon. People talk shit about Amazon on here but they have been very reliable from my experience. I have two of the ROTJ Boobas preordered too but those won't be out until May. I also picked up some old legacy collection ARC troopers from Ebay.

It wouldn't bother me so much if they had bothered to update the rest more. Better hips and ankle rockers combined with the new head sculpt would have been enough for me even with the reused arms and plastic robe, but as-is I don't see any point in getting it. For new 3.75" collectors it's probably a good release, but even by those standards it could be better. I've pretty much given up on TVC. Even its glory days were more of a mixed bag than I think some people remember, but it's clearly beyond saving now.

They'd be better if they had knee joints but I think they're okay. The arms come off really easily when you try to pose them. I guess if you are really into vehicles it would be worth getting into but I like the GoA or Toybox more as figures.

It's been a while since I watched it but I remember thinking that it was boring and completely unnecessary, the sets looked like shit, the costumes looked like shit, the cinematography was shit, and the tank design was nonsensical. Also the garbage at the end with Vader walking down the hallway and then CGI Leia saying "Hope!" was really cringe.

They make good Dragon Ball figures but it's very apparent that DB and Kamen Rider get all the love while American properties don't. As for Star Wars stuff, I think for the most part the line is overpriced. They do have the best R2-D2 in 1/12 scale though, so meh.

The Resistance is literally just a rebranded Rebellion, complete with a lack of official Republic support to keep the same underdog dynamic. Because a well funded New Republic vs. Imperial Remnant Groups would have been too different from the ANH clone JJ wanted to make.

Well first to clarify, it's the Darksaber from JohnWalkerCustoms, not the one that comes with Gideon.

I did a coat over the whole thing in satin black, then painted the hilt with multiple thin coats of gunmetal. Hit the edges and details with silver after that. The blade I just did titanium white with a small detailing brush to make the crackling energy designs. Started with a layer of thinner paint to let the black show through and then another layer of opaque white on top of those to give it some depth (kinda hard to see in that pic though) and then went over the edges with the white to give it the outline. I still need to seal it with a glossy finish.

This figure pack has the best Palpatine you can get. The figure itself was already great, but with this release they gave it face printing. Because of Palpatine's robes it was always difficult to get a decent looking figure for him, so they're sculpted here, so it makes sense for him to be a 5POA style figure. he also has interchangable hands which give him additional articulation, and he comes with a cane.

Their quality varies widely but they are on average better looking than the black series. The face printing especially looks way better on a smaller scale. There are some shit figures like the garbage upcoming repack wave with Padme, peasant disguise Anakin, B1, and TIE pilot, which are all really old molds that should be replaced. Some older figures still look good but are lacking in articulation. However the figures made in the past 2-3 years are excellent in both articulation and appearance, and only get better the newer they are. Figures like Mando and the famous RO stormtrooper are some of the best Star Wars figures ever made. The head sculpts on the newer figures are amazing too, particularly on figures like the stormtrooper disguise Han and the x-wing pilot Luke.

Yeah... I agree but there are not to many other options in that scale. I was eyeing the bandai model kit 1/6 stormtrooper to semi army build but I can't find a comparison between them and a hot toys to see how they fit in a collection.

Black Series will never have the sheer fun factor that the 3.75 has. You have a catalogue of compatible figures dating back to like, 1995. 1977 to 95 is a bit different, with diff pegholes and the old kenner style, but in 1995 to like, what, 2011? there was a figure made of pretty much every motherfucker in star wars. that's what made it fun. you could buy the cantina guy that no one wanted and give him the coolest backstory you could think of, because in the movies, he was just a cantina background guy. you get to enter the world a bit more, with the vehicles, playsets, etc. it's something black series will never achieve because they're stuck in this "collector scale". vehicles like the BMF, the at-at, the slave 1, the upcoming razor crest, are sights to behold and landmarks in the toy industry. even the little shit, like the $20-$40 ships of old (granted, they now go for like, $80 retail), were insanely detailed for kids toys and very high quality.

with the tvc line just now becoming Unfucked by hasbro (besides their piss poor distribution which plagues most of their products), there is not a better time than right now to get into this line. you can get the TVC clone wars obi wan and anakin for like, $15 a pop and these figures used to command hundreds. Black series will always play catchup while if some motherfucker who was in the background of episode 2 appears in the mandalorian you can just go get the episode 2 release of the figure for your display. 3.75 star wars defined the toy industry for a long ass time, to a point where other lines were scaling their stuff so kids would be inclined to buy it, because they went together. you can see how this kinda goes with the whole "everything is 6 inch" plague in the industry today, but 3.75 has so much character to it that it just felt different. it's just not the same. you won't get perfect articulation with like ankle rockers and fuckin butterfly joints but you're going to get a fun figure.

And as someone else pointed out in an earlier thread, even people who thought the movies were bad could see value in the setting and lore that they created. Compare that to the ST, where there's zero enthusiasm for the setting. This isn't even a case of the haters being louder, I've legit never seen anyone anywhere express excitement for it.
