I think jawbreaker has a more pleasing colour scheme and the bigger spikes are cooler. That said I like ankylosaurs better than stegosaurs...
I think I might actually end up with both of them.

Honestly I wouldn't entirely doubt Stryker to do this but it's definitely a long shot. Would absolutely buy the 6 pack (or however many there would be) like the recent zoo-based release if they did it. Just have to recolor the Godzilla mold for the green dragonzord and you'd basically have the entire set

Honestly I think they'd make more money without the exclusives, or bare minimum make them limited runs so you're at least still "rewarded" for collecting the line at a given time. Could also make it easier to be a part of that VIP program if you're not China-based so other people outside the country could have an easier time collecting them as well but that's just a personal opinion right there

Couriers and forwarders start shutting down their services the week prior to CNY. There's a chance the package would get stranded in some transit warehouse for 2~3 weeks...and things can go missing.

I also see it's the 12th of next month which means by what you said the 5th would be roughly the last day for forwarding services to move things around. Should be enough time to get from the store to the outgoing plane/ship by the end of that week if the 29th/31st is to be believed from the TMall pages right?

It's possible to get it shipped out of China between 31st~5th especially if your forwarder warehouse is in same province but everyone else will also be trying to do the same, so there'll be a logistics jam and that 6 days would be cutting it close (e.g. 2 days to get to the warehouse, 3 days to clear customs and get onboard a flight). It's just not worth the risk if you can wait till post-CNY to order. Main colorways like these are available in abundance.

See I already ordered the Ankylo before knowing this and just got Thunderhoof ordered as well for those preorder bonuses. I know Covid has slowed things down a lot once it gets to the states so fingers crossed 52toys either holds off on shipping these guys until after the New Year or I can get them on a plane before then

Do you know where your forwarder warehouse is? If it's some GuangDong province city, it should very safe. If Shanghai then it's 50/50. If it's some Northern province then it's risky.

Checking my Taobao history and they mostly if not entirely appear to go through Guangzhou so I'm assuming I should be good? Rarely has it ever taken more than 3-5 days to get to or through export customs so I'm hoping I'm fine lol

Awww shit. The long sideways horns were one of my favorite parts, I guess they couldn't figure out a way to integrate them into the transformation? This is kind of a bummer. I think I still want it, but I am surprised at how bummed this makes me.

My Deep One had 1 copy of the instructions and 1 sealed baggy with 2 plastic strips plus 1 catalog inside. It's the same for the Alien Queen but with only 1 plastic strip since it's 1 container. It seems MEGABOX releases don't normally have trading cards. You seem to be missing the sealed baggy.

I just got my longneck buddies (which took ages since they were part of a bigger Taobao order). Super cute, I love them! The way the neck joint connections are done is pretty awkward though, the heads always look strangely disconnected from the neck. Also, the jaw feels like it's too thin or placed too far forward or something, which gives them an underbite impression. Oh well, small nitpicks on otherwise excellent toys!

I'm not too familiar with that mold's transformation, but it would have been cool if they'd figured out a way to rotate a lot of the segments 90 degrees to get that sideways bend instead. That seems much more sharklike than this "ab crunch" style bend.

There's a transformation video on the tmall page. They almost got it right since the segments are separated by big ball joints, the problem is that the ball joints only have enough clearance to bend 90 deg downwards. It might be possible if they just tweaked the joint design a little, such a shame.

I wonder if I have one of the bigger collections of these in the States. The amount of money I've spent on these figures grabbing up exclusives and stuff makes me feel pretty silly, but at the same time I used to put a lot of that same hobby money into other expensive figure lines that would end up disappointing me quite frequently. At some point I just felt like I was pretty much always happy to get in a handful of new Beastboxes compared to most of the other lines I used to collect much more stringently. On that note I have Great White, The Goodluck Panda variant and the Green, Black and Red Dragon all on the way and I'm pretty excited to fiddle around with them.

Wartale Ghostdog still the best.

Started collecting with Wartale Ghostdog first (and still is my favorite), I've gotten all I could apart from the neon blue ones (still got Frosty), the blue/pink scented ones, Nuclear Jojo, and the early Dio exclusives. Figured if this was the one thing I waste/throw my money on I'll allow it given they're fun things to collect and make a cool color collage to look at

Plus, I've always wanted well-articulated animal figures, and this was the first line to really make that dream come true for me.

Have a lot of mixed feelings about this one. I wanted a mantis beast box so badly so I'm glad for this figure regardless, but the aesthetics are possibly the least "Beast Box" of them all so far. It looks extremely deadly, more like an insecticon than a Beast Box. While I can totally appreciate that its a cool looking design on its own, it leaves me a tiny bit disappointed. A good example would be the Spider box. An even creepier Insect (Arachnid) than the Mantis by most accounts in the real world, but the spider box is a lot more charming and has some cute little elements to it that make it fit with all the other boxes. Even the crab has expressive tough Crabby eyes. The Tigers look pretty tough and are a bit further from the origins of the toyline than I'd like but even they still have somewhat exaggerated eyes that soften the divide a bit. I'm still going to get it because its a rad design as a standalone product and I really hope we do get that Orchid Mantis colorway but yeah.

I get where you're coming from, but this sort of thing is kinda inevitable given that Beastbox designs and sculpts are sourced from all over, from a multitude of different designers. It's kinda like Busou Shinki in that respect, everyone tries their best to stick to the overall theme but there are gonna be some big deviations from time to time.

I believe this is a product of their design team improving. If the role was reversed and a Mantis came out when the Spider did, there would be more simplified design elements and ultimately that would lend itself to the cute aesthetic. A spider designed today would probably be a lot more complex and detailed because of the technical achievements they've made in cube design.

Still, it is quite interesting that both basically form bodies (in beast and box mode inversely!) by splitting in half. It's like their transformation schemes are even a nod to each other.

Holy shit BBTS is driving me nuts.
The dragon and spider finally went to my pile of loot and i logged on to send them to ship.
Great, they were shipped. But the next day i couldn’t access my account because of their stupid message when i try to log in. Now the items are shipping but i can’t access my account. And they don’t respond emails. I’m not from the US so i can’t just call them.

This account thing happened before, and once i had to cancel the tiger pre order before it even got to my pile of loot, and some other bbs that i had some issues happen. After this I couldn’t access the account again and when i talked to them they said they deactivated my account.
After all that, i had created this new account that i can’t log in again now, which the spider and dragon dropped. But i had preordered the dragon on the old account too. And to my surprise, it got charged!
I explained in a email and they canceled that order but that shouldn’t even happen because they “deactivated” that account right, that i can’t even log in to...

Anyway now i have 2 items that will be delivered, no way to log in to my account, and if i ever want to buy anything again i would have to create yet another account.

Seriously, what a mess of a system. “Hurr something happened call us”. (Nothing happened) No, fuck you. Don’t block me from my account. You don’t respond to emails anyway, waiting since March 12th. I can’t call you.

This keeps happening so I don't know why I'm surprised every time, but so often I end up really liking a Beast Box that I'm a bit down on from the photos way more in person. Like the green dragon looks so much better in your hand than it does in pictures. Just got the White Shark, all 3 dragon colors and the transparent Goodluck Panda in. For some reason I just love this version of the panda so much more so I'd say that if you even liked that mold, you shouldn't be sleeping on Goodluck because the smokey plastic and painted features add a ton to this dude. I really, really need to take pictures again, but its just a big undertaking to take all the boxes out, transform them to take pictures and then transform them all back again when I have like 70+ of them. Maybe a summer project once my kitchen table isn't a fucking work space because of Covid. Outdated picture of the stack. Easily another 10 figures added onto it.

It should be about the same as Taobao if you manage to find a proxy for it. But JD is newer and doesn't anything much over Taobao so less forwarders bother to service it.

Anyway these POs go up around the same time on the taobao shop at https://beastbox.tmall.com/
It's just that Taobao doesn't display listings that are not ready for orders.

I think some China-based aliexpress/ebay/.com sellers carry it. Otherwise the JP shops (amiami/HLJ/hobbysearch) get it about a month after the Chinese release. Yeah it's usually not worth forwarding just one because most of their postage starts at 1kg.

Look, I personally think these are cool as hell and would buy instantly, but I can understand why they shelved them, at least for the time being. They're not based on anything, they're just random poppy recolors, and for a franchise-based figure, it just seems very random and out-of-the-blue. Up to date picture of my current BeastBox wall. Really trying to think of a better Display setup than on top of my desk. Might see if I can get a really wide sliding door display shelf I can put on the wall as a long term thing but I feel like the display is only going to get bigger and bigger and is certain to outgrow that as well. funnily enough, neiter, I got a Thrashard en route to me. I agree though, the stego's colourscheme is glorious and Zilla looks quite fun with the new additions. Depending on how much I like Thrashard I might actually get the others too. I normally don't do that, but I love everything 52 is doing with this base body.

I honestly think it's their best work at this point. The side to side wiggle is genius, and even his stumpy little legs give him a ton of character. I didn't think I was going to like the colors on thrashard, but I absolutely love him.

The problem with my reasoning is that those suits are now sold out. I've also bought the Nurse deco of Hippo as a companion to my powersuit Medic team. I might pick up the Chimelong white Rhino if I can think of something to pair it with too.

To be honest, the Rhino/Hippo molds are a little weak on their own. They were one of the first molds made with accessory-play in mind so if you have some 3mm or 5mm-peg toys around, they have much more play-value.

It would have been incredible if it’s storage box was designed to look like an old computer monitor to go along with the “blue screen of death” theme. I might try making one out of Lego.
