Glad to see i helped inspire the thread challenge.

Reposting because I made more modifications to this set. Here's a list of mods:

>added yellow stripe on the roof of both vehicles.
>reworked the "lab" to make it into its own tank like vehicle. This includes adding engine and spoiler to roof, reworking the front to give it lights, a grill/bumper, and texture, and adding details and weaponry to the roof
>added wall with an opening door the the back of the main vehicle (very hard to do!l that also accommodates the second vehicles new grill
>built an armored buggy to fit in the 2nd vehicle
>rebuilt the alien pod into a mini boat that can be stored in the first vehicle

Lots of mods, and I'm really happy with this set.

Its a modified (of course) version of the mech made by chubbybots using parts from a ninjago dragon.

Today’s haul from Barnes and Noble and Target. My local Target said they had 2 X-Wings but couldn’t sell them because they were “in the back” and “dated for the 10th” so I had to go an hour north for the X-Wing.

I’m interested in the new Imperial Shuttle, does it have a lowering access ramp? That’s the make or break for me. I regret selling my Tydirium.

This was 60080 but I struck the red and bley out of the shuttle to make it all white and more realistic looking. I also rebuilt the crawler to be tractor treads, and motorized. Then built a launch tower out of pieces from my long lost childhood 6339 in the same style as that set. The yellow thing holds the rocket, and clicks into the tower so the blue crawler can drive away.

I also have maxed out MOCs of 60228 Launch Control in the background, the Haunted House tripled into a Tower of Terror, my double Disney castle everyone's already seen and sick of, and the BACK side of main street station, which I rebuilt entirely as a full modular.

Absolute garbage. The side buildings are too small. No police car. Bland exterior. Lacking interior. Lego hasn’t released a good modular since the Diner in 2018. The police station on ideas was better than this one.

Sketch out your design ideas and either order the exacting pieces you need from Bricklink or source the parts you need from Lego sets and add the extra parts to the pile for future mocs

there's multiple kinds of angels, including the ones that look humanoid, all biblical. there's essentially 2 ways to approach MOCing:
either have a general idea about what you wanna create and make a sketch, or just make it up as you go.

Either way, the second step would be to play around in studio a little to get a feel for what you can do with which pieces, maybe even finish your MOC there and then order the pieces you're missing. good luck

That sounds like a good idea. I just finished rebuilding and checking the inventory of my brother's four castle sets, and while doing so noticed just how little space there is on the 6059 for the minifigs and how little the layout makes sense. I usually buy a set or two that is similar to the style I want to make then start a rough design. As I build I get an idea for what other parts I would like and can either look out for more sets or start a wishlist on bricklink or maybe see if a visit to the wall helps.
I haven't been able to do any of that so my main build just gathers dust.

I'll review them as I build. As of posting, I have only built the Trouble on Tatooine and TIE Fighter sets. Me and my girlfriend are saving the X-Wing for a "rainy day" but my buddy got one too and built it with us and his girlfriend, so I'll tell you what I know about it in depth.

Trouble on Tatooine originally felt like a "bend over and take the $30 assfucking" for Beskar Mando. I was hesitant to get the set but we only found 2 (my buddy passed, more later), so I decided that I would regret it if I passed. The set is actually really fun. The speeder bike is a nifty little build that's not too overscaled but is still detailed enough, you get a baby yeed (I have him from the Crest, so I wasn't as excited), and then a tusken raider (never had one before), and a currently exclusive beskar mando. overall that minifigure selection is really good. Beskar Mando really shines and when you look at him and really have him in front of you you go "oh yeah. that was worth it".

The tusken raider camp is probably one of my favorite parts of the set. The box makes it look very gappy and spindly but when you build it it's more compact and nice, reminiscent of the 2004 yoda's hut in design, just thinner. I don't care much for the big ass crossbow cannon but it is a good build and it's nifty how they pull it off. I got mine for $25 at Barnes and Noble because my mother has an educator discount she lets me use lmao

The new TIE Fighter is definitely a great set, especially for $40. It is obviously downscaled from the previous versions of the TIE, none of which I own due to me not wanting to shell out $80 for a fuckin TIE Fighter. The figures in this set are great, you get a TIE Pilot (according to my buddy they've got UCS printing or some shit?), a Death Star droid, and a Stormtrooper. This is my first of the new modern Stormtrooper helmet and it's pretty damn good, I prefer the old one but this new one almost reminds me of a black series figure. TIE Pilot is great and the Death Star droid has a really nice silver printing on the body that shines really nicely.

The build process is good, if repetitive. I'm not a fan of repetitive builds so I can't say I enjoyed building the wings but the cockpit was fun to build and is really nice. I love that it finally comes with lime missiles, I know these are worth their weight in fuckin gold. That always bothered me about the older sets. For $40 you can't really go wrong for 3 great minifigs and a good ship. Hot take, I prefer this new scale as well. it's almost like the soul has come back, just a little bit.

For the X-Wing, I love it. The mechanism was super interesting to see my buddy put together and the way it works seems like something somebody would've figured out years ago. You have to manually "reset" it but for that satisfying click into fighting position, it's worth it. Honestly, the X-Wing looks BETTER than other years. I felt that the older years, especially 2019, were way too big and out of scale with the minifigures themselves. This new one felt like it was much more in scale and the build was really pleasing to look at. I can't say much for the process, I'm just the sticker guy on that one, but I'm excited to build my own. The minifigures are all great, the Luke actually has new printing on the torso, and it seems Leia's buns are a new sculpt? Anyway, I'm out of characters, if u guys hv any qstns ask

greebling, detail and builds in general should be sturdy enough to withstand you flicking them with your finger at any point without them breaking.

just finished building the 501st battle pack, and i have to say i disagree with >>8677323 . The figures are all excellent and actually had 1 more clone than i had previously thought but the main standout is the walker. i love this little thing. it looks cool, it's got a little moveable turret on the bottom (stud shooter but cool nonetheless), etc. it's just well designed. the barc speeder is nothing special but i don't have one so it's cool. my set was actually missing a sticker, the 501st logo sticker that goes on the side of the front-shield of the walker. on that note, i think that there are way too many stickers in this set, especially on the speeder, jesus christ there's 1 piece with 3 separate stickers on it. i'm just not a sticker fan but hey at least it gives it some detail. the clones are superb and the battle droids are, well, battle droids. again, i cannot emphasize enough how cool this little walker is, my only gripe is that i wish it swivelled at the midsection. very good set and honestly i would say it's not quite worth $30. you look at this and then the $40 tie-fighter and it really makes you think "wow, the difference $10 can make", but i get it, this set has a lot of minifigures and 1 exclusive one. overall, it's a good set especially if you liked battlefront 2, which it seems to be inspired by (i love the game).

I've been trying to make a semi-small wolf, and boy have I been agonizing over it.
This is what I've come up with. Please give me some feedback, because I only think it looks okay at the moment.
It's ultimately for D&D, to be used as a Winter Wolf, so this is about as big as it'd be.

Maybe put a 1x1 round plate under the muzzle, and make that tile on top white? It looks a tiny bit thin there. Those 1x1 round plate + bar pieces might make decent paws.

Why do people always make cities and not towns, rural areas, or islands? Seems like all three would be more cost effective than having to make a bunch of essentially empty giant downtown buildings (they could have stuff inside sure but you never see it). Yeah, if I wanted Skyscrapers and highways I would choose a different medium. Still haven't seen a downtown skyline that looks good made out of Lego. They always just make walls of windows, with shitty little cramped plazas at the base. Then the modular sets all around on tiny little two building blocks.

Im building Lego spider army myself.
You will need that amazing new 4 arms connector.
Then stick spider legs in that. With that all your spiders will have 8 apendages.
Pic related - in sets they used neck bracked + brick with stud on all sides

This is actually what I'm working on. I buy the small buildings from the 3 in 1 creator line, and the various campers and beach huts as well as every boat set that has come out for city. My layout is set up on a glass table to represent water, under which I have a small collection of various submarine sets building up as well.

The hell are lego's rubber bands made from, and where can I find them in bulk? I have a bohrok from 20 years ago, with the original rubber band, and that shit aint dried out or lost its elasticity. I the city monster truck uses the same rubber band for the suspension. It sits on a shelf, supporting the weight of the truck without sagging over time.

I did this built some time ago (already deconstruct it for other mocs) but i didnt post it. Its mostly made from legoredo fort parts, i used whatever i could, because my spare parts mostly come from 90s sets from my childhood. I made crane with greys because i didnt have any more parts sadly.

Picture from the other side, as you can see i just builded on top of what is left after you build barracudas bay ship. I modified structure a little bit, so two plates can still be linked, but otherwise the two buildings can be just removed very easly.

The statement was that you get less for the same money, which in case of this city set is absolutely true.
Inflation is not an excuse for shitty car design, no helicopter or retarded little buildings without a baseplate.
They had police stations with 750-ish parts that were WAY better than that trash in the past.

This set actually made me think about the junior city sets because both cars and buildings look that simple and boxy.

Neither am i, but i like things to be consistent. Roads have a defined width in the Lego world since forever, and if something is in minifig scale it should fit.

Previously you got 2 road plates for 10€, now you get 4 (+ accessories) that are the same size as one of the old plates for 20€.

There is a difference in height so you can't connect it to old buildings on baseplates etc.

I like the look of the new roads. They are nice.
But the flaws are there: They are not wide enough for two bigger trucks (he shows it in the video, in comparison to the old plates where the streets were wider).
There are no curved plates in the new system, so its either a T-crossing or a straight line.

These two aspects would annoy even a new customer.

Then there is the aspect of the different level of height. The new roads are 2 plates high, so its not compatible to all existing baseplates Lego ever sold.

In the video he brings up some customers of his (he has a store for Lego and other bricks). These customers apparently have 5-digit-euro worth of Lego at home. Entire cities.. etc. Its a slap in the face for people like that because now the new stuff is not compatible with their entire collection any longer.

Right, but that doesn't justify the difference in height. Just measure the height of the baseplate +1 flat brick, then manufacture the mould accordingly.

I also hate how narrow the plates are. Sure, you could stack them together in a 2x2 plate layout and use some of the excess space as boardwalks but doing so means you're essentially paying 4 times the price of one baseplate.

Who else is pissed off about powered up. It is dumbing down technic and adding a shitty mindstorms type functionality. The whole technic hub is the biggest middle finger to technic. A imprecise stepper motor is driving up the price of a motor while simultaneously going against everything technic stands for. I just want a battery box and a high torque motor.

As it turns out, my shelf is exactly 70 studs wide. So for now, I only have 8x16 left to populate fully. I'm still tinkering with the exact layout, but the only real solid addition I'm planning for the future is a dock for a few small boats. Maybe a market would be nice.

I like the walker design it's much more poseable than the 20th anniversary one.
Ended up changing the style to match the 2005 version.
The speederbike is garbage but I've never liked the clone wars speeders very much.
